Yes legion loyalist just beats them if it stays on the field. I played him once last week against tokens in a situation where it was going to be an alpha strike for the win when he was tapped out. What happened you ask? He dismembered it. That was game 1. Game 2 I got him to 4 life then out came sorin. Everlasting torment may have won that one for me.
its modern lol. blowouts are part and parcel to be expected if you play hyper aggro strategies.
no matter how u look at it, reckless bushwhacker is a 3 drop. u either cast a 1cc spell *eg goblin guide or FSD and then surge him or cast him as he is at 2R.
at this point you have to wonder... do u want a 3 drop at all? wasn't this an issue with Goblin Chieftain to being with? granted, reckless bushwhacker grants ur signal pest and memnite +1 attack which is a factor.
but its a 3 drop. i think that is my biggest issue.
TBH, all my past renditions of Goblin decks couldn't beat Grixis Control/Delver until I tried the Kuldotha Chancellor of the Forge Atarka T3 variant and my version is suppositely the less optimized version without Goblin Guide.
"Goblins will never win on a large scale trying to outdo other strategies at their own game - it MUST leverage unique strengths to be worthwhile, and I think that would be swarming the opponent. We will never count to 20 faster than burn, and our lords aren't as good as merfolk... We rely on swarm synergies - by overwhelming the opponent."
tbh i am very sour that Merfolks get a 2 mana Lord that is clearly OP, elves have inbuilt ramp to ramp into their 3 mana lords and goblins pretty much get nothing relevant.
at this point, i wouldn't mind if R&D printed a goblin lord that looks like this:
RR
Goblin Lord
2/1
All Goblins get +1/+0 and haste
When a Goblin comes into play under your control, Goblin Lord deals 1 damage to target creature of player.
if they wanna bone gobin players even more, make it a legendary card.
Its basically a Kuldotha Rebirth and T3 Gobbos hybrid. So far its been working okay for me. Hyper aggressive Turn 1 - Turn 2 line of plays include:
Turn 1: Mountain - Foundry Street Denizen --> Turn 2: Memnite (Sac it for K.Rebirth to trigger FSD), Attack for 5
Turn 1: Show Chancellor of the Forge and attack, Sac it to K.Rebirth after attack phase --> Turn 2: Legion Loyalist / Bushwhacker play for 4 - 8 damage.
Multiple Signal Pests on turn 2 usually finishes the game.
So far Jund has been my hardest match-up. Grixis is ok as long as I play around adding more creatures on board. Watch out for Pyroclasm in game 2. Goblin Grenading that turn 2 Tasigur or Angler is always satisfying lol.
as i mentioned before a few pages ago, i finished plenty of games on turn 3 with Stoke the Flames + Goblin Grenade + Lightning Bolt when your 1/1 goblins cannot push any damage through with chum blockers in the way.
however, that is for the more traditional all goblins only deck. you can't really run it in the dedicated T3 variants discussed lately.
How often do you get Chancellor in the opening? I feel like there might be a better option to replace him that will give you that 1/1 cheaply in another way. I can't imagine you ever actually cast it.
Often enough. I only mulligan if the hand is totally unplayable (which is rarely). The deck functions straight up like a Goblin deck if you do not draw the Chancellor anyways.
I'm surprised no one has frenzied goblin in their lists. I've been playing with it a bit today and its great for when the opponent drops their desperate lone creature to try and stem the bleeding and you can just breeze right past it. I've also been playing with tuktuk the explorer as a top of my curve. Great sacrifice to goblin grenade and a high value creature against heavy removal decks.
more often than not, i find myself with no mana to pay for its admittedly useful ability and would rather burn my opponent out with Stoke the Flames, Atarka's Command, Lightning Bolt or Goblin Grenade to end the game.

i swapped her out for manamorphose and things got a lot smoother. i also use mutagenic growth as a free spell to surge cast reckless bushwhacker.
4x Goblin Bushwhacker
4x Goblin Piledriver
4x Legion Loyalist
4x Reckless Bushwhacker
4x Goblin Guide
4x Lightning Bolt
4x Manamorphose
4x Mutagenic Growth
4x Atarka's Command
6x Mountain
4x Stomping Ground
4x Wooded Foothills
the deck is okay. not as explosive as the chancellor of the forge / fury of the horde build but works now as a more tempo aggro build.

I tinkered with a T1-T2 Rabblemaster deck before. Its kinda fun but totally fizzles when I go against Grixis or Jund.

i closed many games with stoke the flames + bolt + grenade when my opponent thought they stabilized the board with chum blockers and were at 12 life.

its a real pity she doesn't let you choose the r/g combination as it will allow us to chain into bushwhacker with kicker. =P
