Game 1 boros slight went 2-0, i swarm him in both game
game 2 grixis delver 2-0, cavern of souls stop his counterspells. my creature is more efficient than his removal. spikeshot helps in getting rid of young pyromancer
Game 3 UG infect just kill all his creature and go for the win.
Some explanation on my card choice mainboard and sideboard. I choose not to run goblin guide because i give them too much advantage to smooth out their mana. i did not play foundry street denizen because even though he is aggresive, he force you to overextend to do more damage which open you up to sweeper. i am contemplating still on mogg fanatic but decide to go for spikeshot elder for few reason. first it is a mana sink, second i do not lose creature advantage, third, i run obelisk of urd which makes it ping more potent. i choose not to play shared animosity because it does not boost my toughness. it is more explosive, but at times without sufficient creature, it is a bad top deck. obelisk may be a bad top deck and may even cause me to skip 1 combat to cast it on turn 3, but it is better as it can somehow help my goblins get out of anger of god range with a lord. also subsequent creatures are more potent with it around. i choose frenzied goblin because ione problem that goblin faced in early days are tarmogoyf blocking our wat for attack. sometime kitchen finks as well which is a problem as it is bad trade. frenzied goblin solve that and it allow your piledriver to push in damage if they have only 1 creature. oblisk of urd solve some of the sweeper issue that goblin faced for a long time. it also allow us not to over extend yet dealing potent damage. Kolaghan's command might be a thing, but at times, they might side out is they didn't see it game 1 or it can be swap into blood moon. grafdigger's cage, relic of progenitus and torpor orb helps in the grixis match-up. torpor orb, spellskite and dismember are all for the twin match-up. against infect, the dismember and and spellskite helps. overall all, i find this build seeks to address some of the problem that goblin faced and also tried to optimise the piledriver in the deck. i hope the above information can help to progess the goblin rampage.
i run atarka's goblin last week without lord, don't really like it. somehow without the lord, i find it not sustainable. it does open some sideboard option but not enough to warrant the splash of green.
goblin piledriver is getting rather expensive. trying to get 3 of onslaught version, cost me 150sgd. i have come out with a rg list. have not decide on sideboard.
@franx13, how you find spikeshot elder? is his ability effective enough in your build?
as much as i am excited about goblin piledriver, i wonder what will be the change in the core. is mogg warmarshal still have a spot in this deck or token generator should take over his place? green or black splash is better? as much as collected company is good, i find it too slow for goblin when we aim for turn 4 kill not turn 4 collected company. as for black splash, what is the most impactful card we can run? spike jester alone is not enough to justify the black splash. i agree with sodamnlucky's write up. i have put goblin on hold for the time being, with the reprinting of piledriver, i might pick it up again but i need some convincing to invest in the build and not spending on some fringe idea which might not work. as much as i have most of the cards with the exception of pile driver, collected company and caverns of souls, i would like to see some good idea put forth that can put goblin in the limelight.
i have tried goblin tokens version in the standard format with obelisk of urd, hordeling outburst and such to some success. not sure if we can migrate the idea into modern goblins. it just seems to provide a lot of card advantage with 1 to 2 cards.
How do you fight twin with your sideboard? i suggest the cavern of soul go to mainboard and 2-3 combust in sideboard. tormod's crypt against what deck? i will prefer rakdos charm or relic of progenitus as a 2 of instead.
mardu scout help to activate goblin cohort, foundry street denizen and shared animosity. I am not playing more as I just want sufficient to activate but not too much that slow me down.
mogg fanatic is still strong against affinity, you just need to know when to use the ability. I felt like frenzied goblin might worth a place to side step goyf and other big blockers, what do you guys think?
Played against it. it is very fast, but the combo burn is not consistent. I was using affinity and had be to on the controlling side till I can go for the win. the deck I feasible in my opinion,
you can try mogg fanatic and spikeshot elder for extra reacher against those deck. I am not sure about the black devotion matchup though. blood moon works well against UWR control. you can add blood moon and goblin kingfor evation and mana denial though.
you definitely should not use stingscourger against siege rhino. the come into play effect is not to our favour. morever, if we overrun them, who cares if it attack for 4 when i am swinging him for 4 and above damage?
