elMochaLatte, in hindsight i would change a mountain with a tar pir and mybe add sulfur falls, but I'm not really great at building mana bases. Have any reccomendations?
rlly curious why you don't run 4 tar pits. After playing a lot with tar pit personally i feel like i could never fathom cutting even 1. Its just been so good for me. I've not tried lavaclaw reaches much but thats a land that hasnt been that great for me. Wonder what everyone else thinks about the number of manlands in the deck + what types to use.
3 ebt lands max is a personal preference of mine, and i really like the diversification that lavaclaw gives me. Also, my meta does not have many creature based decks, so unblockable is not as needed. That bein said, I run mainboard seizes over damnation, but this is the list i intend to take to my next gp.

What are people's thoughts on peek and gitaxian probe? I like that they are info + dig, and they allow for great ways to figure out if you can stick an ultimatum (peek allows you to check on opponents eot, probe is "free"). At worst they are helpful plays to plan and cantrip themselves if you can't ultimatum yet.
They've proven very useful for me (I run a 3 total split usually), but I dont know if they'd be good in full tournaments.
In my opinion there are better ways to get info(seize and IoK) and dig(think twice, forbidden alchemy).
The problem is that he is neither a card that advances our gameplan, changes the board state or win us the game. If any planeswalkers would be used i think the best would be jace beleren, jace architect or tamiyo.
i wouldnt say forbidden alchemy is strictly better. while it is an excellent dig, it does not load your hand with numbers, i find myself constantly 1 for 1ing my opponent and runs out of cards/gas pretty quick, a lot of the times I just need that hand size in order to keep myself on top of the game. i understand that forbidden alchemy has a built in flashback option, but with snappy we can flash steam augury easily as well. it might seem bad, and in reality it is not a great card by itself by any means, but functions pretty well for me so far.
With this deck you should be only 1 for 1ing in the first turns, after that you use cards taht generate advantage, like electrolyze, think twice, command, snap bolt a dude and block the other... And a few urns later, the glorious carnage that is cruel ultimatum
today my buddy gave me a suggestion: steam augury. this is the closest we have to fact or fiction in modern, and i guess while not a first pick card, 2 copies do their job quite well in my mainboard alongside 1 Jace AoT. refuels my hand, has great synergy with snappy, and is an instant. a lot better than think twice. i tried it a couple of games against my own 8rack piloted by friends, hatebears, pod, and affinity. i have to say this card has earned its spot in my MB.
Forbidden Alchemy is strictly better, augury is too bad of a card for standard, let alone modern.
So, I've seen Elixir of Immortality on a few lists throughout this whole thread but there hasn't been any real discussion on it. I have used Elixir in every control deck since it was released and never regretted the decision (even squeezing it into the 61 slot in some occasions). I have never been sad to draw it, play it, or crack it. I have not yet used it in Cruel Control but maybe it's worth it.
At the very least it nets us 5 life (which can be game-changing) and at the very most, we reshuffle all of the counters, burn, and draw spells that we didn't snap back, and we reshuffle all of our dead snapcasters, as well as netting us 5 life. I think it's overall cost of 3 is negligible enough that mid to late game spending the mana will be inconsequential. And sometimes it will just save us from imminent death (if only for a turn).
What do you guys think?
