My response...es were specifically directed at limited because this card is too bad to be usable in standard.
1. Massive amounts of creature kill or bounce
2. Sacrificing of card advantage
3. Loading your decks with otherwise unusable cards
4. Mass of artifact kill
5. Entwine
I don't see what use this has in standard with the above being relevant.

W/e... let's cut off discussion of who was quoting who here since I don't think it has any relevance to anything and it's just making my head hurt.
Anyway, yes, the Tora is Limited... but fodder in Limited. Standard... not even worth it.
In limited, Verdict seems ok, I suppose. In standard, not a chance. In block, it may have potential.
My comments were directed more toward casual and block decks. I don't really know how you could assume I was talking about standard constructed at all.

I don't think the Verdict will see play in standard. If you think about the creatures in standard, you come up w/:
1. Spirit Tokens
2. Lands
3. Creatures w/ 5-11 power
4. Creatures pumped by Cranial Plating
5. Creatures that can be sacrificed in response to Ravager
I can see it, maybe, having some kind of block application, though, assuming Samurai proove to be a strong enough tribe.

Nice! Besides the obvious Myojin/Shoal uses it also provides for an instant creature when you're in a pinch.
How does this card interact w/ Shoals? All of the Shoals have a CMC of 2 and are rare... in fact, both the Shoals and Myojin are rare... in fact-er, this is rare. This card is very "Limited Only". At least that new Soulshift 8 creature has a use finally
Terashi’s Verdict - :1mana::symw:
Instant - Arcane (U)
Destroy target attacking creature with power 3 or less.
It's a surprise, it's Arcane, and it's cheap white creature kill. I think it kills about half the creatures out there, on average. Decent!
This card isn't all it appears to be cracked up to be in limited. Sure, it kills Throat Cutters and Ninjas and a good amount of Samurai, but it doesn't kill the bombs. The limited bombs in this set are hard to deal with as it is because all of the removal that takes care of them is limited to Cage of Hands, the Rends, and now Hirobi's Whisper. In most cases, it takes a very great amount of burn to bring down Dragon Spirits and whatnot (although the burn removes them from the game, so their graveyard triggers don't go off =p). I'm sure this will probably go in before the 20-23rd card in many cases, but it doesn't deal with the biggest threats you'd need to take care of w/ removal.

Slumbering Tora -
Artifact (R)
:2mana:, Discard a Spirit or Arcane card: Slumbering Tora becomes an X/X artifact creature until end of turn, where X is the discarded card's perverted mana cost. Chimeric Staff? This is a little cheaper, but requires you to empty your hand... although it has the potential to be nice and meaty if you discard a Myojin. I don't like it, but I bet some people will. You perverts.
Buh... no? In limited, you keep Myojin and whatnot in your hand so you can win the second you play them- not so you can play a one shot 10/10 that your opponent can block with a Deadelf. The fact that you're limited to spirits and arcane spells... most of the playable arcane/spirits are the ones you're going to want to cast while the smaller ones don't have a high enough cost to make this card useful. I think this card is better suited for comparison with that card from 5d... yano, the terrible one because it was in with the likes of Fireball. At least you had a good deal of control over how big it was without overcomitting resources to it for a potentially fatal short burst.
