I'm thinking that Innistrad is Hell, and Liliana is taking over.
That would be so awesome. If you've ever seen Rurouni Kenshin, there is a scene along those lines, and it is amazing. Now to cry tears of sadness because it will never happen TT^TT
7? Nothing says "Ant farm" like what Urza did to Dominaria...
The difference being that that was Urza treating Dominaria like an ant farm, whereas Zorn is complaining about the story itself treating planes like ant farms. At least, I think that's what he(?)'s trying to say.
Really? That doesn't seem pretentious to me. What would seem pretentious is talking about how originally the Goths were a German tribe and the name became an insult because the Goths were considered barbaric and uncivilized.
Honestly, when I hear the term "goth" I generally picture some fat chick with a pound of black makeup on screaming about how goth she is, not some snooty professor with a better-than-you attitude. *shrugs*
Ehh, just having some flashbacks to high school English, where things weren't horror, they were "Gothic". Really, I don't think there's anything wrong with the term, but it is entangled in so many associations, I think there are better word choices for whatever you're trying to express.
what if it dosent have anything of the sort, and its NOT a black themes set, and its NOT a graveyard themed set. Just becasue liliana is a black planeswalker dosent mean that the only picture spoiled thus far speaked for the entire set.
If it was a new garruk that was spoiled people would speculate a creature theme or a animation theme set...
While it is unwise to assume details can be determined from the image, it is reasonable to suppose the image will be strongly representative of the block. For instance, the story will revolve around Liliana, and the atmosphere is spooky (or "gothic" if you're pretentious). These things are put forward in the image chosen to be the central art for the set until after summer, and I do not believe Wizards chooses such art lightly.
His mindset also did not change. The way he charged Jace has more to do with his anger over what Liliana did to him, and anger is not something unfamiliar to him, as he kind of jumped the gun on Liliana too in the first place. I wouldn't like to see anything but a mono green Garruk 2.0. He is so incredibly green, it'd be a disgrace to taint him with other colours.
As much as I would hate to see it, does it seem possible to anyone else that it will just be straight sword & board fantasy flavor?
If Liliana is the marquee planeswalker, her webcomic would seem to point in that direction.
Except we have absolutely no idea what the theme of this block is going to be.
If it is graveyard based, I suspect either Threshold gets a facelift (the way Metalcraft was a remade Affinity) or we'll be seeing Delve again (which would be rather good).
What about Gravestorm? Seeing as how there are an increase in sacrifice outlets and cards you want to sacrifice in Scars/Besieged.
Note that vampires tend to empoy +1/+1 counters, which, next to a set with -1/-1 counters, is a bad idea. Tribal bonuses seems like an easy way to get around this, that way when Scars rotates out, you've still got a proxy +1/+1 theme going.
I know, right, that'd be crazy, like putting Lorwyn next to Shadowmoor or something. \(o.O)/
I doubt they'll cater to proliferate, as it was only practical due to poison counters. As well, coming from an artifact block, it makes sense to me to re-stress color, and purge the card pool of artifact usage. (even though artifact isn't dominating the meta like MIR did.)
Hahaha, yes, let's drop the best mechanic in years like a hot rock. I mean, it's only useful with poison...and -1/-1 counters...and +1/+1 counters...and charge counters...and loyalty counters. It only give control a whole new avenue of play to compete with aggro, dunno why they'd want to encourage that.
Also, why do they want to purge artifacts from the card pool? Isn't MaRo big on "inter-block synergy"? Why would this next block obsolete a block it is supposed to exist in standard with. That just seems dumb.
Fateseal, for instance, was something great in FS, but will never appear again for some reason: it creates bad draws and makes games longer - the opposite of scry. In few numbers, it might work. But in higher numbers, players will never hit that needed land (or needed creature) and players will continually get bad draws.
That would be so awesome. If you've ever seen Rurouni Kenshin, there is a scene along those lines, and it is amazing. Now to cry tears of sadness because it will never happen TT^TT

Okay, then I was interpreting it correctly. I thought the term for that was "sword & sorcery"? I dunno.Actually, this seems like a more appropriate interpretation.

Yes, truly we have seen the end of Fateseal. It will absolutely, positively, never return.

I don't see it. Do you mean the five pronged symbol, or is there another logo that I'm unaware of?
