That's why it is pretty disappointing, we already know Ninjutsu and Commander format was never going to work properly, and this just more or less confirm it is not suitable for constructed either.
Ninjutsu and commander work together just fine, jut not as commanders.
But that's just it, we'd (at least me) really like to see Ninjutsu work in Commander in the form of some crazy shenanigan where you can Ninjutsu your General in fom the Command Zone.
Besides this and his big cost, I really don't have a problem with him. Even though he is a lot like Wrexial, the Risen Deep...
These new Ninjas better knock my socks off or I'm gonna be super disappoint.
I for one am quite happy with the new UB Ninja Legend
I really happy he isn't UBG, as I didn't want Wizards to try and dilute the Tribal feel that Ninjas have in U and B.
I really hope they dont forget Esper & Jund. And why are they pointing out that theres a plane card for Shandalar? Eloren Wilds says hi.
I agree about wanting an Esper and a Jund plane card.
And I too noticed the emphasis on Shandalar back when this was announced, and I was aware Eloren Wilds existed already. Perhaps they intend to eturn to Shandalar soon... I doubt it, but I also now know that they plan five to seven years in advance.
Man, forget the legends, I'm hype as all heck for the new planes! Me and my mates love planechase, and I personally can't wait to up the communal deck to 85.
To be honest, I had forgotten all about the new planes. I was so excited for the twenty-one new cards and the awesome reprints that may be in Planechase2, that they completely slipped my mind! I love playing Elder Dragon Planechase, and it is the main reason I'll buy the planes when they come out.
They need a more in depth storyline to bother making characters first.
Good point... I guess now I should make the comment that they need to go back to the days of Dominara, when everything was related and just about anybody who was anybody had a card! I mean really, they even gave Urza a card (granted he's depowered, but Urza is Urza).
The legends in casual sets are most definitely designed with EDH in mind. I believe they even said that the legends will tide the EDH players over until the new commander product comes out *soon*.
Yeah, but Legends in casual sets aren't the only ones made with EDH/Commander in mind. Wrexial, the Risen Deep was actually created with EDH in mind.
so you are basically saying that a situation like this:
- hey look at the new URG card! 5URG
Legendary creature - elemental
Creatures you control have haste.
Cascade, cascade
7/5
- .....this doesn't feel blue. this is red/green
- i forgot to mentions it's called Maelstrom Wanderer, who comes from the maelstrom
- oh wow this change everything! now it's clearly red, green and blue!
is ok but something like:
- hey look at the new UBG ninja!
*insert ninja here*
- PREPOSTEROUS! this is blue/black, absolutely not green!
- i forgot to mention he is "Sippido Dippido, forest ninja", who lives in a forest!
- oh wow this change everything! now he perfectly make sense as blue, black and green!
it's forced...
I'm really hoping the Ninja Legend will be BU rather than UGB.
There are commander elements in planechase 2, aka Insurance in case pc2 sucks, at least you can strip it apart and use them in commander. That's why you see wanderer. Expect there to be cards that match the previous commander products. They may not all be gold but they will be useful.
Are you saying to expect a lot of the same cards or to expect similar cards?
We dont know this either. We just know that there will be multicolor legends in it.Theirs only four decks. We could get two legends out of the whole thing for all we know right now.
I question your reasoning behind posting the same answer I gave just over an hour after I posted the answer. Oh well, it's not a big deal. At least someone is backing me up. lol
Isn't it confirmed that we will see a cycle of five commanders? What makes you assume WGB is the only wedge combination that won't get a commander?
The average player assumes WGB won't get a new Legend because Doran, the Siege Tower makes WGB have one more Legend than any other Wedge Color Combination. And yes, there will be five new Legends, which mean one deck will have two.
Personally, I don't think these will all be Wedge colored though.
I'm fine either way, I just wish they'd reprint SOME of the old cards..
I wouldn't say there's no need for reprints (hell I wish they'd reprint all the old planar decks..) its kinda frustrating right now when most of the old planes are going for $4 each and the old decks are running upwards of $40-80 in some circles..
I was just hoping I wouldn't have to shell out for the old planes.
You can buy most of them off of Ebay for cheaper than four dollars most of the time.
I'm still holding out for a "Planechase: The Complete Package." It's an idea someone in my playgroup proposed where Wizards re-releases every plane (and I guess now phenomena) in one super set.
They wouldn't even have to include the promo planes to make me happy, even though those are the only ones my playgroup don't own as a whole.

Well, I did mention it is a depowered version of him. I'm well aware a "real" Urza card would rip apart the multiverse as we know it.

Just a random question: Before Wizards actually knew of EDH, what were Legends built in mind for?
