I guess I missed the days of Jura being in standard, so I scoop him up whenever possible in cube. Such an interesting card. I've never been inclined to play with champion of justice though. Even though I would like a calciderm that survived wrath of god.
Who says they can't? Apparently they've never tried.
Like, seriously, I AM NOW ON AN ARCHON CRUSADE!
Can we figure anything else mechanical / thematic about male angles (archons?)
Also I always felt like we could probably understand black's thematic place on the colour wheel by analyzing what's black about bw angles. (Kinda unrelated I know)
Not a ton, if I recall correctly. Not quite a Sakura Tribe-Elder, is it?
Hahahaha you speak my language my friend! But if course, not even the tribe elder, foremost among its kind is exactly a Sakura-Tribe Elder anymore is it?
I remember many a game where you could rely on it to kill an attacking creature and prevent 2 jitte counters or be involved in some similar silly trick. 1 toughness creatures were a poor investment indeed in those times, saving an eternal witness or the like.
@ fooligan: you forgot to add "card" after the forest bit. And shuffle library?
Thanks mate! It's important to reinforce the fact that things that aren't in play are considered cards! It would also be terrible if a search card was ever printed without shuffle. Can you imagine the sort of mess that might cause!?
Hilltop Titan4GGG Creature - Beast (R)
Trample
Prevent all damage Hilltop Titan would deal to creatures. "At least it spared our lives!"
"Oh, how thoughtful. Remind me to thank it for leaving me with nothing else."
10/10
You gotta admit though, 7 mana is a lot for a big dumb guy that even has trouble attacking properly, what we need here might be uncounterable. Trample is pretty fun though. Just remember you have like 8 cards invested in this given how many lands you've put into play so far. I hope you're doing something else impressive too.
Mindsculptor:
That's funny Mr. Bolas! My first couple months on I was only able to draw sporatically from what I like to think of as "old gold" stuff I designed and could recall from before I rejoined these boards. The rest were sort of exactly what you seem to find under-appreciated: Solid unremarkable playable cards.
For a long time I thought I was doing well, but never great, because the bulk of my submissions were boring, spikey streamlined cards I'd like to play with. Someone else would get excitement votes, but I was always a fair alternative. At some point the bottom fell out on that plan and I realized I had no idea why anyone was voting for anything.
Like the last card I had that did well was a 1/1 for 2 that let you put a land in your graveyard into play. That's such a fair card in non-degenerate formats.
I still like developing weird constructed cards, but these days often as not, I'm stuck putting out a bunch of material on whatever it is I've been thinking about designing around. For instance interacting with lands in other zones / making lands that are in play more interesting. Or something like "Black needs to be better."
I do like submitting a lot of cube designed cards, but I find when I design a cube card, people tend to get uppity, because it's either pushing something it's close to in an obvious way (duh why I made it) or it's something people won't really understand the nuance or reason for because they don't cube or have had very different experiences. The black needs to be better designs are so exemplary of people not getting it.

I guess old gideon is sorta frustrating to play against though!
