Hey guys, now that I'm back in school, I'm a little busier.
Congrats Niv, you deserve the new position!
I like your new Experiment, wamyc...Very flavorful.
Future Sight is exciting. I'm not bothered by the card frames so much anymore, but some of the keywords just sound lame. I think it may be good to condense common abilities like that, but "lifelink" and "poisonous" just sound terrible to me.
I'm also going to the prerelease in Novi, MI, which is really exciting. As my first time playing Magic with people not in my town, I think I'll have a good time, even if I get smashed a couple times. Hope to play Sealed because I'd probably die in Draft...
EDIT: I'll be sure to update my sig as soon as Rocker changes the first post/starts the new thread.
Personally, the only part of the futureshifted frames that really bothers me is the placement of the mana cost symbols. If they had stayed in the upper right corner, I would have been pleased.
@ Ravus: However you do it, you should get some Damnation, man.
Burn a Bible, Koran, or Torah or something if you have to get the attention of the guy upstairs.
I have considered Damnation. But I can't get ahold of any. At the prerelease, I opened a foily one, and turned around and sold it for $100.oo cash. That must have been treacherous to it or something, as my playgroup hasn't seen any since.
I would, however, love to run some!
I had a feeling that cost might have had something to do with it. Haha, I remember you telling us about that. I can't believe how awesome that was!
Kind of weird, but two of my friends both got two Damnation and an Extirpate in their boxes.
@ Ravus...MBC without Damnation? Now that is unusual. Have you considered running it, maybe even in conjunction with the [not-as-good-in-Standard] Extirpate?
Haha, Affinity was crazy. But all in all, is was a nice block. The strategies in it were a little too straight-forward, though. "Hey you. Play artifacts. Or roll over to those who do." is the essential message, true or not.
Edit: Goddamn. Those frames are painfull to look at. Makes MTG look like some cheap knock-off of a TCG, like Dragon Ball Z cards. Those better be an elaborate practical joke, or some foreign thing.
And there has been pretty wide support for " [The Izzet] - Make it Better or Make it Explode!"
But we're waiting for rocker to start the new thread.
I'm OK with the current idea, but here's a little Mirrodin block Izzet homage:
Only [The Izzet] would ReshapeJens into Shrapnel!
Maybe we can tuck that one away for later.
Yeah. It's going to be awful to see those frames even in one set. I'd kill ten puppies if the Future Sight timeshifted frames were the permanent face of the future.
Now that isn't nice. At least ask permission first...
Well, the card frames won't necessarily look like that, according to the FS FAQ. The frames are meant to evoke a futuristic feel is all.
To call Nacatl War Band a green *** is a huge misnomer, as it can be easily stopped by even sorcery speed removal like Volcanic Hammer. Which is not to say that the card can be very powerful, given the right circumstances.
I don't speak or read French, but I have a nagging suspicion that the card is mistranslated, and that you only get a number of tokens equal to the number of untapped creatures the defending player controls. However, you'd still get in 3 free damage, most likely at the cost of the original creature.
Thanks for using a cardtag, AI. I was just to lazy to look the card up.
And yes, that card is foul. It's a win-more card. If you have that much more life, why not just keep doing what you're doing to win. Why do you need this card? I know the suspend thing helps a bit, but I don't like this cycle of cards. They're all so expensive and slow.
No prob. I always use 'em.
That' just the argument I used with one of my friends, who loves the card. "If you're winning, you're winning." is what I said to him.
Which is a similar sentiment to one of the titles I posted above, which was actually posted a long time ago by guildmaster van, a former member of the Izzet. I really like that one:
[The Izzet] Way of Life: Make it better, or make it explode!
Plus, it's short and sweet.
I liked that, but I also felt that "Make it better" doesn't really yell "U!!!" so much as my idea did...though the succinctness is appealing.
I think that PMs are simpler, as people don't have to sign up for the group and all (which isn't that difficult anyway, I guess). The upside of a Google Group is that everyone can see what the discussion is (of course). So convenience or accessibility? I guess that's the real question.
I'm all for either one, really.
Oh a rather serious note...
I was just talking to bloodydoves about the Triple Alliance merger, and he agrees with me that we shouldn't lose our clan identity, not even to save our allies. It's tough, but in the end, we need to look out for ourselves first.

AAAAAAA!!! THE BORG!!!
All Fear!!! It's a flaming Revolutionary!
Quick, pie him before his Charisma and Treacherous Urge Engulfs us all!
You're not going for gold?

C'mon, isn't one Supplicant good enough?
For a supposedly omniscient being, you need to read a bit more...:p

I knew you weren't completely serious about Nacatl War Band, but I just had to make sure that no one else got confused.

Blowing things up is half the fun...the other half is going back in time and doing it again! [The Izzet]
It might be difficult to get to Regionals, but I'll see what I can do.

Mergers might make them resentful, as they don't want to feel like they're dying out...
