You wouldn't want to run more than 2 copies since it's legendary and the second one is really, really bad. You can flip it to gain mana to activate Windbrisk Heights if you meet the requirements. The activated ability on Adanto would provide a very powerful source of dudes. Land hate against a silly mono white deck is unheard of so there's realistically very few scenarios where we lose an engine.
Repel the Abominable and Runed Halo are good against Valakut decks. Tron is still a nightmare matchup that we are going to lose almost every time. THC is a good enough card for enough matchups that it should be run in the main as at least a singleton. I have a singleton, but I could see 2 being good.
Guys, what do you think about Stockpile + Ayli synergy? Several stockpiles on bf can generate really good CA and help to get your gas with scry ability without loosing bordpresence?
Running bad cards to make other cards playable is not a winning strategy.
Has anyone tried serra avenger in this deck? With a single honor of the pure out, it becomes a serra angel that was cast for 2 mana. Sure you can't cast it in first three turns, but there is so much other stuff to cast those turns anyway, i don't see it being a problem, and avenger could easily win the game over the top with flying and vigilance. At the minimum it would add a win condition outside of just pridemate/ascendant. Thoughts?
It's bad without Vial. You need Vial for it or you will lose games because of it.
Hope of Ghirapur is far too slow. You have to cast it, then attack with it. It takes two turns to get online, and the effect slows down the opponent for one turn. Weak. It doesn't stop anything, it slows it down.
What are you talking about? If a Pridemate is going to eat a Terminate, so is a Lone Rider. Pridemate is the superior card because it puts on pressure significantly faster and remains a threat for the whole game. If they make a mistake they can lose the game on the spot because you've got a 10/10.
If we go on the 'No Aurioks' plan for the sideboard, I think I'd run a Grafdigger's Cage and 2 Celestial Purge. Not big on Ghostly Prison, it doesn't do a whole lot against anything but Infect.
Wrath is for big creature decks like Company and Eldrazi. It's expensive and I don't like running too many sweeper so I only have one.
Stony is good for Affinity and helps in Tron. Always a mainstay
Rest in Peace is good against graveyard combos.
Mindcensor can screw with grindy decks really well. It hurts Valakut quite a bit, which makes it super valuable there. Leonin Arbiter is trash because it dies to everything, but Mindcensor has flash, and they can't bypass the effect without killing it.
Selfless Spirit is for the grindy decks with sweepers, like Jeskai Harbinger, Mardu Nahiri, Jund, Eldrazi. Very effective against Engineered Explosives.
Leyline is almost exclusively for the Valakut deck, but is also fantastic against disruption decks.
Blessed Alliance deals with Infect, Primeval and Inferno Titan, and random decks with big creatures.
Auriok Champion is based against Jund and Grixis. Really, really good at not dying. You can also bring it in against zoo to provide further walls for their creatures. You generally bring in a lot of these.
