No, don’t apologize. I’m with you. I still think there’s some mix of Battle Screech / Sephara / Force of Virtue that could give us some juice, but for the most part we’ve stagnated where the rest of modern has evolved greatly.
We matchup like everyone else does, lol. The deck is so flexible with Altar that even if you gain a million life, they’ll mill you out if you don’t have the answers.
On another note, why does WOTC hate us? Is life gain aggro always going to be relegated to standard viability? It seems like they throw us a bone every set, but each one is... garbage lol. I do believe there will be new lists pop up using MH cards, but no one has found the right mix yet.
A few years ago, I ran a Collected Company version of the deck with value 3 drops, and Renegade Rallier. The deck was good, but not fast enough. I’m not the best brewer in the world though, so effects like this could probably be very powerful in the right hands.
It may not be a rule anymore, but it used to be. I don’t see us becoming top tier, but Generous Gift alone helps us solve a lot of the issues we used to have.
I know no one visits this thread anymore and we can’t talk about spoilers, but... I just have a feeling we are gonna get a card to deal with Planeswalkers, and that card could also gain us a life under normal circumstances. It would be a gift of generosity from WOTC... It will probably also hit lands, but I can’t confirm this yet. It will help massively in our most troublesome matchups.
Gideon Blackblade is gonna be a test card for my Humans/Soul Sisters deck. Triggers the Sisters and Champion of the Parish / Thalia’s Lieutenant. That -6 probably won’t be much of a factor, but giving a Champion or Pridemate vigilance / indestructible seems sweet.
He’ll eat a few Trophies or Paths, but then allow a turn 4 Archangel.
I wasn’t suggesting to cut fetches, lol. I just didn’t like the interaction with those and Martyr/Ascendant in MY deck. The Shocklands do more damage than fetches, most times. I also question whether the Martyr/Ascendant Package is good in anything besides MonoW, since it’s based on having white cards in hand. Do some real play testing before making any drastic changes based on suggestions. I’ve been wrong a lot, and I am probably wrong now lol.
Joker, have you play tested? Last time I tried fetchlands and shocklands, it was nearly impossible to hit 30 life. I dropped Ascendant and Martyr, but everyone’s list is different.
I actually suggested Tribunal a page or two ago, for those of us who still run Oring as a 1 of.
I get where you’re coming from on Marshal because I’ve been running a Humans Package and considered him for my deck also. If you’re having trouble casting her, your mana might be the problem. You could either go up on lands, or drop her by 1. Running her as a 3 of with only 22 lands could be the trouble.
@Ulka, I usually don’t bother removing Bloodghast against dredge. It’s a constant trigger for us, easy to block, and once we stabilize it can’t defend.
When Archangel hits, she usually wins the game. If anything, I’d drop marshal for the Processions.
You seem to have the sideboard pretty well figured out, so how about being more specific? Only thing I noticed is you have no artifact/enchantment destruction, so you’re doomed if you face a Chalice / Worship / Bridge deck.
I should have clarified... There’s a lot of people who run Oblivion Ring as a 1-of, and I’d wondered if they tried Tribunal. We don’t have the cards to take advantage of the Oring trick, so I think Tribunal would be better.
The only reason Honor became awkward for me is I run main deck Thalia. I’m not sure I would cut it in a standard shell.
Also, has anyone tried Conclave Tribunal? When you think about casting it on turn 3, you can cast Spectral and as long as you have another creature, use your four creatures to remove a Liliana, Teferi, or other troublesome permanent.

I obviously haven’t playtested it, but it looks sweet. The creator has been playing it on MTGO, and has an insane win percentage. What do you think?
EDIT: left out Thalia and Auriok Champ...
EDIT: Socklands, lawl
