Tron, RG Tron specifically, is so far from Control it isn't funny.
Aggro? Sure.
Ramp? Also sure.
But when you concede to ramp, you're kinda conceding to combo; ramp's pretty much a combo tactic wherein you attempt to amass an overwhelming resource advantage and power out things far more powerful than anything has the right to be at that given turn of the game.
Tron - Combo/Ramp
Splinter Twin - Combo
Splinter Twin - Combo
Living End - Combo
Living End - Combo
Affinity - Aggro
Infect - Aggro
Jund - Midrange
Where's my ideal top 8 would have 3-4 less combo decks and put control and tempo decks in those spots.
Brisbane also had 0 control or tempo decks in the top 8, as did Detroit.
It stands to reason that if you're missing 2 whole popular archetypes, something is wrong. Variety is the spice of life, and saying "If you like control play another format" is wrong, since control keeps combo in check.
You don't play rock paper scissors without paper.
"If you want to play paper then go play another game, this is about rock vs scissors!"
Then again, just looking at the top 8 is a bit misleading, I should probably look at the top 16 decks, but the data is harder to find.
Nah, the RPS cycle's in full swing.
See, Jund is secretly a control deck.;)
I have half a mind to go back to that THS spoiler thread and quote a lot of people who said Master was bad in Modern. I'm on a very high horse right now in regards to that card. 9 Merfolk decks on Day 2, almost all of them probably packing Master? Lots of people eating their words on that one.
If I haven't said it enough already, it's a proven fact that people are bad at card evaluation.
And Magic in general.
You'll see one day, when Duskmantle Seer is vindicated!
YOU'LL ALL SEE!
On topic, I figure someone'll be driving that Wescoe-Sullivan Boros nonsense, failing to realize that what Boros needs is more maindeck Searing Blaze and Grim Lavamancers.
Stall.
Stall.
7 is Tron mana.
Stall.
It cantrips.
Aggro? Sure.
Ramp? Also sure.

Haha, time for me to jam Triple RIP in every Wx build!
Muh Lavamancers...

Eeewwwwwww, gross.
I will annihilate you for suggesting that.

We should really just measure metagames in units of Deathrite per pile.
Or Esper Zur become a full-fledged thing.
Anyway I guess I'll set up the No Punt Zone...
