Phyrexian Dreadnought would allow for a Modern Stiflenought deck (I tried with the Hunted creatures and Eater of Days, but they were either too expensive or weren't worth the effort).
I kinda agree, being ok with Entomb over Strix is a bit nanners.
The only concern with Entomb really is if it makes instant reanimator too consistent. I'd say it's safe, and that making a combo deck like that better would be good for the format, but I'm sure there's plenty of people that disagree.
I don't think that looking at Strix by itself being fair is a good evaluation of wether or not it's safe for the format. You have to look at what else can go with it, Caleb Durward recently stated that he believes Deathrite Shaman, Tarmogoyf and Baleful Strix are the 3 best creatures in the game (excluding Griselbrand). I believe that if it were modern legal we would see a very scary BUG deck come out of it, which would in turn destroy other decks in the format. If people find Jund to be a problem now they'd find BUG with strix even worse. At the moment I don't think it's good for modern, maybe in the future if the power level of the format goes up, but not now.
I think this is a good time for Mother of Runes to get a reprint. Huge boost to Death and Taxes and Hatebear/Maverick variants that really need it. All the creature hate decks are making these types of decks pretty much irrelevant.
Although I'd love to see it, I think Mother of runes would be too good. It's a great defensive card, protects your creatures, and would be really good hate against twin and pod.
I actually don't mind bans, sure it sucks when you really like a deck and it gets the hammer but at the same time, it's magic, one of the most enjoyable parts of the game is putting together a new deck or coming up with new ideas for decks.
Honestly, FOW would not even be that good in the modern meta. FOW is good in legacy because it keeps fast combo decks in check, or is used to protect slightly slower combos such as Show and Tell / high tide. In modern, you're going to be crying every time you waste 2 cards to counter a Bloodbraid Elf, Lingering Souls, Deathrite Shaman, or Tarmogoyf. There is a reason why most players board out FOW against the more fair decks in legacy.
FOW would however present problems down the line for being busted in delver tempo decks or protecting combos without having to keep mana open.
Control decks in modern need more efficient ways to deal with creature decks without being a dog to combo decks. Right now, you can either go all-in on beating decks like Jund, Affinity, Delver by running lots of removal, good blockers, and some solid late-game cards like Gideon & sphinx's revelation. The problem there, is those decks are awful against eggs, storm, tron, and scapeshift. So realistically, control decks have the problem of picking between beating aggro, or beating combo, since it's next to impossible to be able to beat both with the current card pool outside of getting lucky with sideboard hate game 2 and game 3.
These are all very valid points, I just think that U/x Tempo with access to free counters would be bad for combo at the moment, this is just my opinion though. I'd rather them wait until combo gets too out of control to bring force in.
am I weird if I want FoW to be reprinted, or at least tried out in the format, also wanting a reprint of goyf in say a coreset so that it becomes more accessible, even though it's coming in modern masters
I honestly think that Goyf belongs at a price range just a little higher than Dark Confidant, $100 is just ridiculous. If they really want to push this format over Legacy they have to start doing whatever it takes to keep modern staples at a lower price than the important duals.
FoW would be interesting, I've heard a lot of good arguments for and against it. Even though I love the card, I personally don't think it would be the greatest for the format right now. Maybe down the road as the cardpool grows and if the format starts getting a little bit too fast it could be a good addition.
I was playing a little pauper the other day and had a lot of fun playing with Snap, it'd be really with snapcaster, clique, spellstutter sprite, and Restoration angel around.
That said, i have thus far a very promising recreation of Ponza in Modern. And while it may not be adaptable, it is reliable. And I can name off dozens of top tier decks from different formats that had weak at best adaptability and still worked wonders. If you can take control and force the opponent to adapt to you, you often don't need to adapt to them.
I played a match recently against a land destruction deck and it was actually pretty good. I think the archtype would be a great addition to the format, but I'm not sure what they could reprint to make it better. Devastating Dreams might be an option. I've also always been a fan of Army Ants as well. Maybe that or an improved version would be good, mono-red 2cc that taps and sacs a land to kill target non-basic. Ok, maybe that's a little too good...
This has nothing to do with the ongoing LD discussion here but i'd love to see a reprint of Eladamri's Call. Imo it has the right power level for modern
It'd be awesome to see a lands style deck in modern, but I'm wondering if Exploration would be too good in scapeshift.
I agree with all of those, unfortunately Dreadnought is on the reserved list though.

I'd much rather see Green Sun's Zenith back, but since that's never going to happen Eladamri's call would be a pretty good alternative. Either that or Worldly Tutor.
