No Infect in top32 at SCG Modern Open Louisville is suprising and worrying.....
Anyone got some input on meta in general?
20 of 32 were Eldrazi and another 5 were Affinity. How much longer before someone wedges some Eldrazi into an Affinity deck and we have Eldraffinity?

STOP using "dude/bro" as a pejorative or insult. Grow up.
Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”
Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
Those Kitchen Finks have me scratching my head. I understand what they are supposed to do but it seems Pulse of Murasa would be a better choice in that slot in the SB. I'd like to hear his justification.

As a +2 in the SB, in a UG list, thinking about Chalice of the Void, which would you all recommend over Nature's Claim OR in addition to Nature's Claim:
I would think that if you are going to play a 2 mana answer to Chalice of the Void you would want it to be an instant so I don't really like Seal of Primordium. I am also thinking that Blood Moon is more popular than ever so enchantment removal is important too. I mention the enchantment removal if you are planning to replace some Nature's Claims. If they are in addition to claim then it seems less important.
I still think Viridian Corrupter and Wild Defiance are the main answers to a Chalice on 1, but there does seem to be some merit to a 2 mana answer also.
Thanks for the response. As it sits in my SB, I am thinking of a +2 in addition to Nature's Claim. Unravel the Aether looks interesting since it also deals with Wurmcoil. I'm still tempted to add in Tel-Jilad Justice in addition to Nature's Claim for that Scry2 ability. Playing TJJ at EoT and scrying 2 to hopefully find the right pump spell or weed out an unneeded land for a chance at pump feels VERY tempting. May have to play test it. Thanks for the tips.

the builds really do not look any innovative or well prepared for the meta at all. i really do not understand how no one is playing distortion strike oder slip through space in their 75...
Quoted for truth.
Zero innovation. Unless you consider one list that was running 3 Tarmogoyf in the SB. (Shakes head and rolls eyes) I think the Infect "Pros" need to take a look at Ross list. Slip through Space would have helped (a bit) and Spellskite should have been in more lists as well. Pulse of Murasa seems like a better call over Feed the Clan as well. Almost like they thought, "Hey Infect is positioned well in the current meta." And they picked up old stock decklists and played it for the first time without knowing how to run it. I'm with you, not played optimally from the looks of it.
Are more unblockable cards like distortion strike an Slip Through Space needed?
Affirmative on Slip through Space. Viridian Corrupter as a 1 or 2 MB with at least 3 total in the 75 may be another tactic. And I'm starting to think some 2 cmc artifact destruction in the SB to combat Chalice of the Void may be in order as well. I'm also starting to think about replacing Nature's Claim in the SB with a 2 cmc artifact hoser along the likes of Tel-Jilad Justice or another 2 cmc artifact/enchantment hoser to combat the Chalice set at one. Seems some new "tech" needs to be in order over the old standby Nature's Claim. Maybe or maybe not.

So any new strategy needed to battle Chalice of the Void? 2 cmc artifact destruction in SB? Viridian Corrupter as a +2 in SB? Stick with the main plan?

I'm not sure I like Oath of Nissa... I think I'd rather have Sleight of Hand in that spot. Digs one less card deep, but can reach pump and protection. Wall of Roots is a sweet tech that Tyler Hill has been advocating for quite a while.
A lot of people say that Slip Through Space would work nice with Become Immense. Here we see the Boss reducing the number of BI in the deck while including 2 STS and upping MOOK to 4 copies. What do you guys think of this new pump style?
Exactly what I have predicted earlier in the thread. You're welcome Tom Ross. STS grabs you another spell and the odds say a MOOK can be played more often over a BI. I'm already playing it myself. Although I will say I've jumped off the Wild Defiance main deck bandwagon and relegated it to a +2 in the SB. I've changed my tune as it seems more pump was the correct choice.

Also, if an attacking creature with a totem armor gets a abrupt decay, does it get removed from combat?
Thanks for bringing this up. I'm actually starting to wonder of dumping my 2Wild Defiance MB and going with Spider Umbra or even Boar Umbra for the protection the Totem Armor provides. Interesting tech. I'll have to play test.

Also in my games the +1 from distortion was rarely relevant to the win condition, since all our pumps now give +4 (or +6) it's common to just win on top of two +4 and a hierarch, also if you're casting become immense using a slip that you cast the same turn you may as well consider it as cost "free" (both in terms of mana and card expenditure).
Good points. Slip will start to catch on in UG lists very soon.

For me the potential explosiveness and possibility of StS ending the game outweigh the +1 you get with DS. I also run 3 Wild Defiance and the ability to chain one StS into another or into a Gitaxian Probe then another or another pump spell. It is somewhat random by nature I will admit. But I like it.

+3 Slip Through Space, -3 Distortion Strike. The cantripping into more pump or enabling a BI is really nice.

Slip through Space netted me a Game One, Turn 3 kill today (Friendly Playtesting) as it let me draw a Fetchland to enable a Delve of Become Immense for a 10 poison counter alpha strike. Distortion Strike would not have enabled the Delve. I will be swapping the DS out for StS as soon as possible.

Just saw Ross get taken down by Burn. Thought that was relevant with some posts earlier in the thread. Ross now 8-2.
