I had attempted a list that was heavy control. It is likely 5 pages back or so. Maybe further. I can upload my more recent list that I was planning to test if I ever get to play modern again.
In all fairness we weren't getting a better Liliana than of the Veil. The benefit of the new Liliana is that she actually ticks up while protecting herself and allows us to sit on removal and counterspells so we always have answers and drawing cards is once again great since we will hold them.
@w7west
Sulimgar's Command seems really good in this meta. I don't know that I would drop it, unless you were playing something like Maelstrom Pulse or Hero's Downfall to answer Planeswalkers.
I will note that the 2 damnation in the main with the additional creatures doesn't make a lot of sense to me. If you were lighter on creatures, then it is likely fine. As it stands if you ever have to cast it, you are likely losing more than you should. I wonder if it just shouldn't be a sweeper like Infest or Drown in Sorrow. Perhaps more spot removal?
@Argomok
Take inventory likely isn't quite good enough compared to something like Think Twice with gives us instant speed draw and with flashback a total of 8 cards drawn if you see all 4. If it wasn't for the sorcery speed I think it would be great since you can draw up to 10 cards drawn if you see all 4.
My guess is because running nahiri and blood moon are too hard to avoid that people switched or are hated out. There is a modern pptq coming up and I'll likely play this deck as my swan song out of modern since I don't really have time to play modern anymore
Discard turn 1 of often fine, but any deck you want to discard early are the combo decks and not too many of those actually go off before turn 2. On the play I would lead with vision and on the draw leading with discard is likely fine. Dropping a goyf turn 2 isn't necessarily ideal. Since you want some disruption early, drop a goyf, reload with ancestral and beat face while controlling what your opponent is doing for a few turns to ensure goyf connects turn 3 to 5 or 6. However long you need to kill with it. You're a control deck, not tempo. Dropping a threat past turn 2 is fine as long as you can protect it and finish off an opponent.
Or it isn't your play style? Or you just don't have enough experience with it to really have a legitimate input on the deck. Comments like that are unnecessary and pointless to post. It has nothing to do with progress of the deck, or how to improve each individual list that is played. The single post that your account has makes you seem like a troll that got lost from under his bridge. Thank you anyway for your pointless and unnecessary viewpoint.
She seems ok as a win condition, but likely just as a 1 of maybe a 2 of. Both of her abilities are relevant. I just think you want to be able to run more forests if you play her, so I feel that counter magic isn't quite the way to go.
Jace could definitely join the shell somewhere. But my actual list is much different. I don't think thought scour is correct mostly because we don't have reach like bolt and k command to help us close out a game in short order. We rely on either creatures or other things to help us close a game.
She's been fine. They can't really attack her profitably and she answers chandra, liliana, outpost siege, creatures etc. I like her. When she hits ultimate she is bound to end the game barring an Olivia already on board and active, which you would have already answered.
With all the aggro in my meta that is why I have a few of the sideboard options. I changed it around a bit for you because you don't like gimmicky cards. Maybe you just don't like bug or can't run it because you like bolt and k command too much? They are great cards haha
Infinite Obliteration is an interesting card. I like it for the fact that it is a proactive answer to a lot of decks. It's relevant a lot of the time. Even naming Tarmogoyf against jund can be a way to proactively answer their best threat. We already have Disfigure to answer dark confidant, scavenging ooze, huntmaster and can kill tasigur with liliana etc. Against twin naming exarch is great since we can kill their other threats with Disfigure and various other removal spells. It's been an awesome card to help supplement removal and not overload out counter magic
The extra Islands are there for the assured Island count since the deck is primarily blue and because of Vedalken Shackles. Siege is there for the loot each turn to ensure that we draw everything we need and cant filter our draws. Infinite Obliteration can hit Twin decks, Kiki Chord or Tron whatever you may feel. It is decent in the respect that it can proactively handle any problem we may face. It easily could just be more discard if you prefer. You don't have to like my deck though, I have had great results locally and I will likely continue to play and test on and off. If you feel you need to find a list that you want to play, why not try building it yourself and play around with numbers to see what feels right for you? Ultimately it comes down to your play style and what you are comfortable playing with.
