I am toying a bit now with Hollow One. I like the broken feel of casting it t1 (after Looting and cycling the Wraith). This is a WIP. I guess I should swap a Mountain for a Forest, this was simply my old mana base. In the Tournament Practise it was good, but that doesn't say so much. I will take it to a League at some point.
i like the birds, i played a similar version without shadow/varolz and often i wanted 3 mana turn 2 in order to cast looting into 2 creatures to reanimate vengevine
side
2 thoughtsize
2 abrupt decay
2 collective brutality
2 darkblast
2 ancient grudge
1 golgari brownscale
1 gnaw to the bone
3 molten rain
made a couple of 3-2s and 4-1s, the main feels veeery explosive, but still needs changes, without dredge cards neonates are quite poor
things i noticed
-discard one effects are a bit lacking, i want to be discarding 2 cards at least, lightning axe gets the pass
-i want 3 mana turn 2 to play looting into multiple creatures to reanimate vengevine
-hollow one its great in combination with looting/troll, its 1 mana 4/4
Q: has anyone here played both the dredge and the dredgevine deck? they say dredge is faster, but by how fast does it goes as compared with dredgevine? can the haste from vengevine compensate it?
dredgevine it's slower in the dredging game but kills faster, its first an aggro deck so it's more resilient against hate than "dredge"
"dredge" is better and more consistent in the dredging plan, its harder to interact with but its a bit slower, also graveyard hate is more effective
if you want to put a lot of cards in the gaveyard very fast try dangerous wager, you can easily put 5-6 from hand and 10-12 from 2 dredgers, so with this card alone you can have between 20-24 cards in the gy by the third turn
with the drownyard tech this deck could become a dangerous wager + drownyard combo that can win on t4
this version puts cards in the graveyard faster and has more and better threats to recur
what we loose by not playing green lotleth troll: great card, i think it compares with the skaab but dont know wich is better. once on the table the troll its great but doesnt come back from the graveyard, both discard cards
loam: crab its better
the hability to cast dredge troll and vengevine: nice to have but rarely relevant ancient grudge, ray of revelation, gnaw to the bone in the sideboard: big cards to lose, golgari brownscale its a great alternative and maybe even better than gnaw to the bone, the other cards dont have good replacements, maybe some green shockland in the sideboard?
Now that we're getting down into the gritty details, I've noticed a few lists running 2 Life from the Loam. I agree in one to help activate recurring changes. What are everyone's opinions on a second?
i've just played a few games with the neonate all-in version (no wayfinder or salvage). I rarely want to draw the turn's card, its better to keep dredging more threats into the board. without loam you cant cast the vengevine, troll or even the imp.
if you are playing with wayfinder and salvage and have more draw steps you probably dont need loam

the fifth looting its suposed to be a fatal push
personaly i prefer lotleth troll instead of street wraith

but im not sure about the last 3 slots
i'm new to the deck but it seems to me that we want dredger + discard in hand to start playing our game, aren't 8 dredgers to few?
