what do you think of a core of Matter Reshaper backed up by heavy sweepers? We get to maintain a board presence while getting Reality Smashers etc off the table.
True enough Panda. That said, let's keep brewing about SB options. I've got some Displacers on the way, quite excited about them. I feel like we now have incentive to play an increased attrition game, 1-for-1s like Strangler, sweepers, Bearer of Silence, maybe Liliana needs to be highlighted. Or perhaps we change gears and, rather than winning through combat damage, we play a more flexible game by setting up functional walls with Sower and stab away with the new pinger guy, or something of that nature. More flexibility means we won't have to abandon this deck.
Everybody talking about offloading their Eye of Ugin... It isn't so broken that it's bannable IMO, it's just a shiny new toy that has rocked the meta and will require time to adjust. Let's not be hasty here.
I think Chalice or SSG is much more worthy of a ban.
Ghostly Prison and Displacer seem to be the most cost effective way to combat the protour menace.
Could just be that we need to see what develops over the next few weeks/months.
Good thing we all have our backup modern decks right
Any thoughts on a transformative SB featuring 3-4 Matter Reshaper to angle the deck slightly toward aggro for games 2-3? I mean isn't this card just plain better than Strangler against Tron?
How are people justifying 1-offs in the SB? It's not like we have ways to cantrip or filter, so what's the point of playing 1 copy of a narrow card that you may not ever see?
In the right deck I can see Displacer doing serious work, but for 6 mana I'd rather be casting a Sower. It matters much less with the banning of Twin, but it could provide some hilarity against Wurmcoils. Might be SB suitable .
Has Spellskite gotten worse now that twin is history? Is 1 copy enough for the odd infect/bogles MU?
Your opponent's pissiness makes your victory all the more sweet. Good job friend.
Spreading Seas is a sonofa*****, I'd be one to hold back a GQ to protect against it. Fish and Tron are almost reason enough to play Crucible in the board
I've said it before, we're like the NicFit of modern: disrupt, ramp, play bomb. Only instead of SDT we have Relic
Let's talk practically, what are some of the cards in OGW that you might consider as part of a potential core? I.e. what new cards should I worry about gathering before they increase by 500%?
Can we compile a list of cards that can be countered by Warping Wail? I mean things we're actually liable to encounter. I've only got: Serum Visions, Lava Spike, Living End, Scapeshift, Smallpox? I get that Wail's intended purpose is removal, but is it good enough to also bill as disruption?
edit: also counters Thoughtseize and IoK!
4 Cave of Koilos, can't go wrong. I urge those of you who don't have them to get a set while they're still $1. This deck is growing popular fast and Caves may spike a bit.
I missed the Spellskite train when they were still $20, now they're pushing $40 and I'm really reluctant to start collecting them. Is skite considered part of the core? I mean, I know it does its job like a boss, but what other strategies can we employ that fulfill a similar role of "hoser/must kill"?
You're right about affinity, slipped my mind as my meta is more tron heavy. Someone above posted Curse of Death's Hold in their sideboard. Turn 5 is pretty slow, but it offers a somewhat permanent solution to opponent tokens/affinity creatures.
We're in dire need of something in the 3cmc range to handle this (I'm looking at Engineered Plague).
