Ditto on the weekend thing - I understand that the editors need rest, but would it really be that hard three or four times a year to post an article or two on the weekend? If nothing else they can outsource it to other websites that would be excited to get some sweet spoilers.
It has little or nothing to do with rest. I guarantee you those articles are written a week in advance and slated to be posted on a timer. You'll note articles still came up on July 4th (Independance Day) 100% guarntee that's a stat holiday and Wizards was closed. Even MaRo didn't miss his 'Making Magic' Monday.
No reason they can't have writers write articles for the weekend on spoiler seasons (Other than it'd cost money to hire them.)

Rose tint my world, keep me safe from my trouble and pain.
I don't mind the spoilers on third party sites and the slowness of spoilers. What I mind (and always had) is the fact that Wizards reveal the last 100 or so cards in one day, creating this huge info dump.
This is the part that annoys me most as well. There are exactly half the set that is left unknown until literally a week before the prerelease. Often the cards I care about are in the 100 unrevealed cards. I much MUCH prefer the days when there were enough unofficial leaks that we know the whole set two-three weeks out (even before Wizards releases the full spoiler)
I would rather them release more cards each week so that all 100 are previewed before the official spoiler goes up. Combine cards so you preview a bunch in an article (that's what they used to do) I would love it if every single day I saw at least 1 card that made me intrigued with the set - rather than one every 3 days (and the rest I don't care about)
And, most of all, I want to see the commons and uncommons in a set before I see the rares. I remember the first few days all we were seeing were the rares and mythic rares. IOW - cards I am very unlikely to see in the Prerelease and don't get me excited since I probably won't be able to afford them on my budget.
