Hi everyone. Posting this here for anyone who's interested in playing in the 2018 DnT championships
Rules:
-The tournament will be double knockout. If people really don't like this idea we can change it to swiss before the first round.
- Matches are first to 2 wins (best 2 of 3)
-Submit your deck list along with a deck code by DM to me on discord, or as a pm on mtgsalvation.
-Deck submissions will be open from November 2nd to November 16th, at which point all lists will be made public.
-The first round will begin on Nov 19. You will have two weeks to play the match and submit results, if all matches are completed before 2 weeks we will start the next one early.
-At a minimum your main deck must include the following cards, everything else must follow the modern format rules:
2 Plains
4 Ghost quarter
4 Aether Vail
4 Path to exile
4 Thalia Guardian of Thraben
4 Leonin Arbiter
4 Flickerwisp
Prizes are the bragging rights of being the best DNT pilot of 2018. If we get at least 10 people I will look into getting an additional prize to ship to the winner.
Even though I'm not one of the opponents who has been quoted or exposed on a screenshot in this thread, I can understand the frustration of having to play against the same deck archetype over and over again.
There's a difference between leaving a match because you don't want to play against your opponents deck and flaming your opponent in chat before abruptly quitting.
For instance 4 Magus of the Moon are just worse for us then 8-10 LD lands. Harsh Mentor would be great against affinity and devoted druid combo but not sure it would be more effective then big Thalia or wasteland strangler. The Nalaars are also just worse then lingering souls in most cases so would be better in my opinion to just run Catmix's lingering taxes list.
Dont play 4 Magus, don't play Alesha, don't play simian spirit guide. Everyone does that in their red lists and its no good. Harsh mentor is better than ThaliaHC vs. affinity and druid combo. P&K and lingering souls aren't super comparable beyond the fact that they make 2 1/1 flying creatures.
I was thinking about this new oblivion ring vampire as a 1 of in the resto slot. Since it says opponent you can't exile your own stuff as protection, get the free pump on attacks and then get your creature back when they kill it. Is it better than the vigilance angel we got in the last block? Pumps is nice but I think flying is going to be better in the long run. Best case you exile an emerakul or deaths shadow by biking this guy in the win on your next turn. Worst case it dies to half an electrolize.
Just a note for people discussing Gideon of the Trials, his first ability prevents damage from a permanent so it fogs any valakut in play, which may make him a better choice in the scapeshift matchups over AoZ.
I though storm was pretty favored to very favored after sideboarding. I had someone actually ragequit vs. me in the last round of wnm last week because he lost so hard. Maybe you are keeping poor hands?
The best way to do Mindcensor is one each of all four versions, Future Sight, Amonkhet, promo, and invocation. Never miss a chance to tilt the thin-skinned.
That was my go to for flickerwisps & ghost quarters but WOTC ruined that plan by reprinting wisp in MM3.
Important d&t question for the thread: Which is the better Aven mindcensor? Pre-release promo or invocation?
Follow up question of if invocation, should you make sure to play with invocation aether vials as well?

WOTC has no choice now that the ritual is complete.

The exalted trigger is more important than the flying on the birds.

That option wasn't in the poll!
