Well, their insurance is jerking me around. Says they won't do anything until they get a statement from the other party, which common sense dictates they won't get since they hit me and ran. Apparently they absolutely must know who was driving because it's a limited policy so only the registered owner is allowed to drive the car. I think it's time to call my lawyer.

Yes, a report was filed with the State Trooper that responded. The other driver's insurance said friday morning that an adjuster will call me within 24-48 business hours, so I'm still waiting for that call back. As far as the lawyer, I have legalshield so the lawyer won't cost me too much.

So on my way home last night a guy came over into my lane and hit my right front fender. Messed it up pretty good, I'm fine and the car is still drive able but the plastic inner fender rubs against the tire when I turn. As the title states, the guy took off. Myself and a witness followed but lost him. The witness got the license plate number and the state trooper was able to pull the insurance information on the car. However, the car is registered to a woman and the driver was definitely male so there might be a hard time there. I contacted my insurance company and they said I can either contact the other insurance company myself or have my insurance company do it for me at the cost of a $501 deductible, which I can't afford. Waiting to hear back from his insurance (they were closed last night when I called). So what are my options, especially if his insurance is uncooperative? Should I go ahead and contact my lawyer today while I'm making calls?
