I went 4-2 at a team tournament and even though I lost the last one, I just threw it for the sake of fun (since our team had already lost).
One event, I know, but this has serious game. So much am I convinced that I decided to buy all the pieces necessary for Abzan, combo elves. Grist (for the black) is the real deal.
Finale of Devastation. It’s a fixed version of Green Sun’s. No more turn 1 ramp, but it is 1 green mana “cheaper” than Chord. I don’t know if it is worth it, but certainly worth a try. The x=10 clause may be relevant in some games. But, ultimately, it is a turn 2 x=1 at fastest, so I don’t know if it is worth it. One tempo slow, is my guess, although it is one turn faster than chord.
Being sorcery does hurt though. It might be better in WG combo elves? It seems like it is half a turn faster. You can combo off turn three fairly consistently.
EDIT:
Wait a minute. Why does it say “and/or”? Does this mean what I think it means? Is this the busted card that Elves has been looking for?
EDIT:
Upon further research, it seems we only get 1 creature out of the deal. It becomes, suddenly, a worse Green Sun’s.
I am the guy on Sultai. My only record that is worth noting is a top 8 on a mid sized event here in Japan. I really love the list (still), but it suffers from the saturated lightning bolt market we have now.
Just to note about the Sultai list, but the touch blue works primarily because of Phantasmal Image, not Nissas. Phantasmal copying Shamans was the reason why I created the list. The full list is in the link below, if the link still works.
Vivien might be useful. Flashing our creatures and having a choice on which creatures to “draw” is something. Making opponents wonder what is coming out makes them question their plays. This all for lead the stampede mana makes me wonder for sure.
Ya, I’m trying to evaluate that new glimpse. Four mana is a lot, like coco level, but going back to a chord deck and having the glimpse as a one of to Chord, I tap and go nuts might be a thing. If not, I can only see this replacing the coco slot as having 8 4 drops seems a bit much. I’ll test this though as I tested all other potential cards. Might be a thing.
I use Nissa, Vital Force. I won several games with it, but it is not necessary. I use it because 1) I have a foil one and I love it, 2) flavor and 3) it is good vs control/grindy matchups if it is drawn. I don’t think its something that is a silver bullet for this deck, but I have played this deck for a long time to know that one sideboard card I insert because I love it won’t ruin my chances for winning a tournament
I am Cavernless for a year. Sold it and never ever in tourneys felt I needed it. Even against chalice, I have not felt the need since I usually go down in number of 1 drops and add rec sage. I think the need for more color is better than caverns, especially gb and with spell sideboards.
I apologize for the late reply. I have been traveling and have finally settled down back home (for a month) in my wife’s parents’ lovely home in Minnesota.
I do indeed have three ts and four tks. I side them in against control, spell combos, sfaepshift and tron. TKS, I bring in against burn as well. I don’t bring them in against Aggro, midrange or creature decks since most creature decks(aka humans) I can beat without much trouble.
Honestly, it’s my “twist” that transforms my deck after sideboard and often times, it’s the surprise that gets the opponent as much as the card themselves.

Kind of excited for this archetype again.

@mapccu I think the golgari lists are our best bets. The 2 black mana elf that helps vs sweepers is a nice upgrade against wipes.
I'm going to bring a list tomorrow to a team tournament. Will report if I do well
