Haven't played the deck in a while but was wondering the strategy to beat Terminus in UW Control? Is the goal to just hold cards in hand and not go all out?
Seems really hard to beat!

@TheThominator, I am currently running 2 Steel Leaf Champion in my deck at the moment in place of the visionaries and I love it! If you look at the most popular decks in the format right now (Mardu Pyromancer, Elves, Humans, Dredge styled decks, Jeskai), all of them rely on small 1/1 and 2/1 creatures gumming up the board as blockers... Steel Leaf is unblock able to every Lingering Soul/Pyromancer token as well as a lot of the humans
I've won a lot of games with just one of them and 1-2 lords in play

Yeah I think Elvish Clancaller is definitely the correct route now a days.. When I first saw the card, it's second ability of tapping (6) and itself to tutor for another seemed cute but irrelevant yet from the week I have played with them I find 80% of the time I have access to the mana and it works really well.
I think Visionary was only there as a placeholder until a better 2 drop became available. Plus I run 3x Lead the Stampede mainboard which is far more efficient at keeping the hand full and is better at protecting against board wipes and loss of tempo

Hey guys, just a report from going to the Starcity Worcester event:
My friend borrowed my deck running 3x of the new Elvish Clancaller and 2x Steel Leaf Champion and both were over performers for him the whole day (he played against: Jeskai, Elves mirror, Mardu, Humans, Knights, Scapeshift, Jund)
Those Steel Leaf Champions are almost always unblock able right now in the format because there are so many low powered creatures.
He ended up going 4-3

From the look of your list, you would probably be better off running Green/Black since you aren't running the GW combo version with Devoted Druid/Vizier combo
With that you could run like Thoughtseize/Inquisition in the sideboard as a good option to take their Sorin planes walkers and whatnot.. There really aren't that many good white sideboard options for that matchup..
Although essence warden would allow you to race them with all the life gain

Sorry for the double post but do you guys know if M19 is currently modern legal?
I want to run those Elvish Clancaller (im thinking 3 at the moment) for this tournament on sunday

Yeah if you go to GB you will definitely have more flexible room.. I feel like when I first started playing elves a while ago there weren't strong sideboard options that fit in the colors and provided answers to multiple decks in the format. But now we have damping sphere and heroic intervention which really smooth things out
Let us know how things work out!

That is true.. I might end up switching that to just a forest... Looking at my sideboard and only having the 4 Shaman in the mainboard, there aren't that many spells that require black mana..
EDIT: however, if the opponent is on a blood moon plan.. it does shut off a lot of my mana sources so it may be nice to keep the swamp as a way to keep the colors

The reason I run a single swamp is because a lot of decks are running Ghost Quarter/Path/Field of Ruin
so it is a non-green source that I can fetch - since all of our mana dorks take care of the green department haha

Okay so I'm going to post this here so I have record of it haha.. This is the list I plan to bring to Starcity Worcester this weekend (it's a GB shell with some fun stuff)
I totally understand that! There are a lot of really good sideboard options now a days - I think it comes down to what you think you will see the most of. Like if there isn't that much Tron in your area you can probably safely cut back on damping sphere.. You don't necessarily need to show up with answers to everything if you know that a good majority will be playing Jeskai lol
As for play style - I usually try to race because the more mana they have the harder the game gets.. This usually involves playing out my mana dorks/nettles/and a lord (leaving a copy in hand if I have multiple)...
And currently I have cut Chord of calling (a lot of winning lists have done the same). it's gotten to a point that unless you are playing the combo GW it is just better to run lead the stampede to keep your hand full
And for the Elvish Visionary - I don't think they are that big of a deal. I used to run 2 but never liked them.. Like when you dump your hand and end on a Visionary it definitely feels anticlimactic lol.. Right now I am experimenting with Steel Leaf Champion in its place because it avoids chump blockers which is really good given the amount of young pyromancer tokens and tiny humans running amuck haha
Hope this helps!

I agree there are a lot of board wipes now.. but luckily jeskai/UW Control are the only decks in the top tier format right now packing a lot of board wipes since humans/Hollow One/Mardu rely on board presence.
I have went up to 3x Heroic Intervention in the sideboard as well as increased my Lead the Stampedes in the mainboard and it has helped a lot in play testing.. It allows you to dodge and recover from their wraths lol

Hey, i've been away from elves for a while but am planning to let my friend borrow it for an upcoming tournament next weekend.
I was wondering if anyone has tried Steel Leaf Champion? It seems incredibly good as a 1-2 of given the amount of low power creatures in the format (ie pyromancer and tokens/a lot of the humans/etc..)
Was thinking of running that in the filler place that usually goes to Elvish Visionaries and whatnot
