why do I get the feeling that this Death's Shadow deck is actually terrible, but was just well positioned in this meta?
Playing Kolaghan's Command gives the deck resiliency. Otherwise, it just plays 8 ridiculously overpowered creatures for their cost and another 4 ways to find them, backed up by discard spells and kill spells. It's a fantastic deck.
Personally, I think they must unban Preordain and/or Jace if we dont have any Blue Reactive in the Top 16.
I dont believe we get Twin back so soon, so they will go another path.
Do you honestly believe either Preordain or Jace would do anything at all to help them in the current field of top decks? If they can bring back Wild Nacatl for being banned for a stupid, unnecessary, and ineffective reason, they can do the exact same thing for Twin.
I'm still baffled about why Wizards can't get this downtime coverage together. CNN spent almost an entire year filling almost 24 hours with content about the same story, even when there were no developments for hours. Almost any kind of constructive Modern filler commentary would be better than the endless downtime.

Well, to be fair, even SCG gets large breaks before the Top8 and, at the same time there was a modern match at the SCG channel.
But as was pointed out, they could easily fill the air time with something, ANYTHING. Commentary, recaps, replays, "pro analysis" from players knocked out, predictions, whatever. They don't even provide a countdown timer so people know when to return. Then, unless I missed something, they blindly return into the start of match 1 of the semis with NO introduction and no talking about the other T8 decks. It's sloppy and unprofessional.

Tron player drew like a god and punted the game. Glad to see these sloppy Tron players losing despite godly draws that would crush green decks
As a Grixis player, it always causes PTSD when the Tron player just "always has it." I mean, I play a fair deck. There's literally nothing I can do to keep up with garbage like that.
EDIT: Damn shame for both guys to draw this one. Syrus needed to dig for a Remand if he actually drew it.
Increased play pace in early games could have prevented this. Both players know their decks are slow and both players already have a draw. The outcome is not a surprise at all. :/
Well again, those where undefeated players. I'm fine with that. Turns at 8-1-1 is pretty sweet though (and his deck is all foil? so good).
I understand undefeated players are interesting, but when both the players are playing a mirror of a deck that was featured a dozen times already... well, that tells you why the SCG stream had nearly ~2,000 more viewers than WOTC... (currently ~1,000 more)
Blue is still looking like hot garbage, but i'm glad to see Copy Cat gaining some traction. Blue still needs a major piece unbanned.
I don't k now if I'd call one guy catching a room off guard by a deck nobody expected as "gaining some traction." I mean, even Jeskai Nahiri had multiple placements and an SCG Open win early in its debut.
Cool to see he's trying it, but I don't believe in the least bit it is good enough for consistent success in Modern.
GOD ******* DAMNIT, another Death shadow game v Eldrazi Tron
This is annoying, it's literally over half the coverage today, this has been serious disappointing coverage
I can't wait to see the Day 2 breakdown.... Either the meta IS as much of a mess as it looks, or Wizards is utterly incompetent at picking and showcasing feature matches.

Let's be honest, many of their choices for on-camera matches have been pretty awful as well... At least SCG is still going on.
