Oh, and I'll just relate an anecdote from GP Brisbane that I thought was very funny.
It's day 2 and Dredge and Taking Turns are facing off in the X-3 bracket. The Taking Turn's player has a Howling Mine in play; on the Dredge player's turn they mill the top couple of cards from their library, which includes a Narcomoeba. They then proceed to draw their second card from Howling Mine without indicating that they intended to reanimate Narcomoeba. The Taking Turns player immediately calls for a judge and begins his explanation with "Okay, so I have a Howling Mine in play...". The judge immediately responds with "That's evil. Anyway, what is your rules question?"

Well, I can saw a woman in two, but you won't wanna look in the box when I'm through.
The Brisbane Modern scene sounds kinda rough! Jeez...
Haha, I broke (or badly sprained) my wrist the morning of day two when I slipped over in the shower; I decided that making day 2 on my first ever GP and still being in top 8 contention was reason enough to put off going to a doctor. Probably a dumb decision. As soon as I knew I couldn't get into the top 8 I dropped.

I was at GP Brisbane and went 9 and 5 before dropping due to a broken wrist; I was on RG Titan Scapeshift. 3 of my losses were to Tron decks of some form or other either because of the nut draw of their ability to search for lands. The matchup is not that great in my experience, but I could just be lacking in experience against the deck.

Were Titanshift / RG Breach well represented? It seemed at least that most didn't make it past day 1. Just wanted to know the actual situation on the ground
There were at least a couple of us that made it to Day 2. I think the prevalence of Tron might have been an issue for a lot of the Valakut players since RG Scapeshift doesn't have much of a way to interact with Tron lands or planeswalkers. I went 9 and 5 before dropping due to an injury sustained earlier in the day and 3 of my losses were to Tron decks.

I was at GP Brisbane; one of my friends was on the staff as well.
The room was full of Bant Eldrazi, Tron and Eldrazi-Tron, which isn't much of a surprise. The Australian meta is known for having a lot of Jund and other BGx decks so everyone was expecting those and turned up with decks with good matchups against them. There was also a lot of Burn, but not much of it made it to day 2. Lee Shi Tian and Zen Takahashi were the only two Dredge decks in the room to my knowledge; in my opinion it placed because no-one was specifically expecting it and because the players are both very good.
7 different decks in the top 8 doesn't seem bad to me. People will complain about how there weren't many interactive decks (or in the case of Lantern didn't interact in a way that people consider interacting)but I think that the top eight is sweet.
I made Day 2 on RG Scapeshift.

No video coverage for GP Brisbane, Australia gets shafted when it comes to that stuff.
