I am very saddened to read the news on MTGSalvation. I have strong empathy for the site as it helped to get where I am today. Thanks, everyone for reading my primers and I hope we can continue our journey together on my website and discord server, where I still continue to post content frequently!
Do we like Leyline of the Void more now with the new mulligan rules? I’ve been living under a rock and just found out about the change. The odds of finding one are pretty dang good if you really wanted to dig (i.e., 78.3% for a mull to 5 and 87% to 4). Is that enough to convert any of y’all that were not in the LotVoid camp, or are you going to stick to your other hosers? Obviously it’ll be just as easy to find them too, though they won’t be present on turn-0. I’m just curious what y’all think about it. It scares me a little that combo can dig like that though.
The new rule is not implemented yet and will be tested to figure out if its safe. So nothing fixed yet.
Concerning Leyline, I don't think there is more incentive to play it based on the mulligan than on the actual metagame. Leyline will always be a strong option if you expect many GY based decks. In the case of Dredge now, it makes sense to play it.
Oh I understand you. I personally am pretty uncertain how this will shape up for us. In theory, Tron, Amulet, 4c Whir and Affinity will rise again. And I really don't want to see Amulet in particular becoming even more strong now. Nevertheless the ban was necessary.
For Jund specifically, its tough to say how it will shape up though.
I think Ishkanah is a great way to stabilize the board, if you get that far to speak. At 5 mana she can of course also rot in the hand.
But I get the idea behind her. One reason for it is that for example Finks, is imo not a great card anymore in Jund. A lot of threats in modern are flying atm, especially since phoenix is a deck. Finks doesn't block at all here. And this observation has led me to the desire of a great flying stabilizing creature, which is actually able to block. unfortunatlely I haven't found any creature that is good enough. Ishkanah is a similar strategy I think. She can block flying threats and provide needed time threough chump blocking. Recurring her also seems valuable.
I personally am a bit higher on PKN though, which has similar purposes. But I like the cheaper cost and the possibility of removing a threat or 2 in addition.
Anyone here tested Jund and Rock ? Any feedback on that ?
My MTGO leagues results are pretty average with Jund (42-45) so i guess it's a fair reason to test Rock now, anything to help me (and us) to think about that ?
By the way do you think, even if player is experimented with BGX, he have to switch on other archetype ?
If the meta demands that sometimes its the right choice. I also do that from time to time even though I am hesitant. I usually switch to Shadow or Storm.
The light of hope is growing really dim for this archetype, which is saddening me greatly.
In other news, I'm hoping there are going to be cards with Spectacle that Jund could make use of. Spectacle as a mechanic has some promise.
I think spectacle is quite hard for us to enable. It rewards proactive play which is stronger in aggro decks usually. If it would enable upon dealing dmg to ourselves then I think it would work nicely. But not sure how we can consistantly enable spectacle in our deck other than wasting a bolt or being ahead on board already.

Might be playing her for fun, because why not.
One other interesting idea would be Bitterblossom. I was given the tip by a Jund grinder, and it kinda makes sense too.

How come? And where did you read that?
EDIT: Just saw the SCG article, yeah thats sad, but she will be a great addition to the play design team for sure.
