I am very saddened to read the news on MTGSalvation. I have strong empathy for the site as it helped to get where I am today. Thanks, everyone for reading my primers and I hope we can continue our journey together on my website and discord server, where I still continue to post content frequently!
It is disadvantage, but most of the time you'll have something you don't mind getting rid of- discard spells, Traverse without delirium, excess lands. It helps shave dead cards as you segue into the mid game and let you keep the pressure on longer. I have had to adjust my mana base and spell distribution, it's really hard to make everything work when playing 4 colors. If I had the cards I'd try Grixis shadow with 4 Looting instead of Serum Visions.
It is true, the drawback of negative CA is probably not that high here since the deck wants to kill the opponent fast. The extra card selection could help to do so. However, investing 1 mana into it could also be a problem, especially since the deck does not seek longer games. It could restrict the development of your board to a certain extent.
Looting has some advantages over Manamorphose, which have been stated, but keep in mind that Looting not necessarily helps fixing our mana and is actually card disadvantage, wheras Manamorphose helps with the mana and is even in terms of CA.
For me, the delirium aspect is probably the biggest factor that makes Looting interesting.
Is Souls really that good against Humans? I am not so sure about that. If the Humans board builds up too quickly, Souls only functions as chump blockers.
Against Hollow One it can buy you some needed time, but if I am pretty sure Hollow One will board out Burning Inquiries which will make Souls less apealing.
I like your Manamorphose build Spooly. I think its the right way for the deck, since I hated delirium as it is soo dependant on the matchup. With Manamorphose, getting an instant into the yard is the right way.
I think those things will get into the primer as soon as I am able to update it. Need to rethink sideboarding though.
Did you have any matchups where you sided out Manamorphose for example? I feel that those and Bauble never come out.
Travers Shadow will also be worse imo. Control is always good vs the deck and Jace only makes control better. I dont know if BBE will have an impact on Traverse Shadow though.
I'm trying to get back into Magic and looking at this deck. Does it play out more like a Tempo deck or more like a Midrange deck?
Its more tempo than midrange. But it can theoretically do both depening on your list. Its highly customizable. However, its strenght lies in tempo plays.
I think you mean Lingering Souls is not great vs Control in our deck. Generally, if you play Abzan for example, Souls is amazing against Control. I agree though that Souls does shine alot less here since the nature of the deck is to kill the opponent fast. I would not call it bad still. Unless in the worst case (which is Verdict always) Souls almost certainly trades 2-for-1 or more.
Yeah I think if you play 4c with blue you just dont stand a chance against a good GBx pilot. Having something like the cards you mentioned is for sure mandatory.
Running Snapcaster to traverse for seems really sweet, but I cant really think of why I would not run white honestly. I feel we just cant conceed against Abzan and Control decks.
I'been running 4c version with blue and tbh I don't miss Lingering Souls against control that much. Sure that card helps against control but I can do it most of the time with the combination of discard, counter spells and Lilianas. Midrange decks are more problematic from that aspect in my opinion as think that Lingering Souls is stronger against them but I've still been doing fine against them although Abzan is different story.
I like 4c version since it has better mana base and it's easier to build sb with it comparing to 5c one. Among both options I prefer the one with blue splash over white so far. White gives you Lingering Souls which is cool as the card helps you to beat control and midrange decks. As I said you can still win most of games against those decks without it though. With playing all 3 versions (4c with blue and 4c with white splash and 5 color) I like 4c version the most (so far) for the reasons above. Also when I played the version with white splash I was missing Stubborn Denial more than I'm missing Lingering Souls when I play blue splash but that's just my opinion though.
At first when I decided to try blue splash I was worried about the lack of Lingering Souls against fair decks and that this would be too big of an issue. As I said I've been working fine against fair decks most of the time so far. Not saying that Lingering Souls doesn't help but I think you can do without it, more so than without Stubborn Denial.
What does your list look like? Any Manamorphose and or Snapcasters in the deck?

A 5-0 list from MTGO leagues.
Here is a 5-0 list running 4 BBE and straight Jund.
Its more tempo than midrange. But it can theoretically do both depening on your list. Its highly customizable. However, its strenght lies in tempo plays.
NO way, JUND is going to rise again
