Tormenting Voice already exists. Instant speed does not help cast Hollow One, although it would be nice as a combat trick. This is the card I added 2 of in my deck, but I still feel it is too slow.
What about Cabal Therapist?
It can sacrifice itself, seems strong against combo/control deck and could be an interesting 0 mana discard outlet
I feel the card is limited by it's own restrictions. Not as good as thought-seize or other 1 drop discard spells. Sacing a creature you want to be attacking with is a little off strategy for the deck. The once per turn before combat is the part I really do not like. If you could use it multiple times a turn it would be broken.
If you plan on using it on yourself then it is a negitive card gain (unless you can pitch multiple GY recurrsion creatures into you yard and get out a H1 for free). Which sounds great but is a bit like Christmas dreams.
by T3 I am trying to get my H1 out or digging deeper into my deck, Pyro at T3 seems bad as there are better things to do that turn, T4-5+ is where I would look to play him to refill and to drop GY cards recursion. Skelator is good any time as it provides value in the opponents hands disruption as well as damage.
I agree with Ninja.
I would work to get into Black mana. I love the Phoenixes but can see the hesitation. They can be hard cast easy enough. I would try to get some lightning bolts, maybe a fatal push. There are a lot of nice new cards coming out that could change the way this deck works in the future. Dreadhorde Arcanist and Neheb, Dreadhorde Champion could be picked up when they release (they will probably shoot up in price first week out).
I tried it. It went awkward. I tried playing the deck like H1 and it worked well. I tried playing it as a would a soulflayer deck with more GY digging, and the deck would wind out and not regain steam. I also had some funky self auto Armageddon that should not have happened as frequently as they did (Kept a 4 land hand with loot, flyer, lore. drew into more lands and got the value cards random-ed into GY). the Flayer is too weak without protection, and there is not enough value in the keywords that are in the deck naturally. The lifelink/deathtouch was very relevent in most of the games, it stabalized my lifeloss and provided a fair blocker.
G1 mono Red Rampup prowess build. I had great hands and put early clock on him forcing him to use his burn on my Flayers giving them -1/-1. the lifelink kept me active as I rebuilt.
G2 Boggles loss, no interaction that I could muster, Hollow flayer does not put out the en-mass effect as great as H1 does. Overall a bad match-up.
G3 4c collected company good stuff. The games were close but it came down to more of a slug fest. Speed & wide of H1 would have won here, Soulflayer came out but with out words it is just a 4/4.
Overall the soul flayer feels easier to play over the Angler but without keywords is a weak card. Zepata the dinosaur is an extra card that does nothing and encourages GY hate and creates bad draws later.
relevent keywords that could help Deathtouch and Lifelink, haste and first strike.
Rampager is stackable also if you have multiple flameblades out (has not happened yet) Also give a decent discard for 2nd main phase H1.
Any card that is "not played by PRO's" tends to tilt opponents I find. Rakdos Charm has been useful, but I have been misplaying it a lot. I am not use to the card.
I did poorly at FNM this week but my mind was on other things and I just was not playing at my peak.
Overall I kept hands I should have Mulligan and played too loose. I sideboarded badly.
@Pizzap; I have not had any great wow moments with Rampager, but I have had to hard cast him as a creature. It is a versitile card casting on flameblade to give +5/+4. A downside is that it can not trigger Flamewake from GY.
My current deck. Trying out Wargear, rakdos Charm, & Ghor-clan Rampager.
So far I have not played enough games to see if these cards are worth the slots. My reasoning is that many games I SB out the anglers, and having multiples in hand of them gets bad fast.
Doomfall in the Sb is for Boggles match-up. I do not own any EE so that is not an option right now. Any advice on a better card choice for that Mu is welcome.
@Pizzap; I noticed in the past you ran Become Immense in the main board. Are you still running that and do you feel it is an improvement over Ghor-clan?
I have been doing well with my r/b Hollow one. My FNM has been a bit limited. there has been less rounds/player during summer. Also some of the players were inexperienced which made for easier match-ups. Record for last 2 weeks. 2-1; 2-1. Both losses were my fault due to bad/misplays.
Some of the games were tight with life points and came down to the last play but most I just rolled over the opponent with multiple reoccurring lines of attack.
Adepts are no joke. With out them the deck would work funny.
Other notes, Rakdos Charm has been pretty good as SB option.
