Interesting which Walkers did you replace in UW and UWR to play Splicer. Cause I don't know a constant token generator seems pretty good with Walkers for protecting when you don't have a wipe or want to save spot removal. Against little Teferi they cannot counter at all and to a lesser extent big Teferi helps you get mana to keep splicing.
Now on Force of Negation I agree the main use seems to be saying nope to their Walkers.
Oh yeah that justification was simply awful. Also it messes with the color pie if Blue is not allowed to have good counterspells and White cannot have good answers cause what it invalidates bad cards? Funny cause it seems Green and Black are always expanding their Color Pie while getting basically exclusive access to discard and ramp.
I mean the only time Force of Virtue cost reduction helps you is if your opponent full swings all their creatures when your tapped out (so they don't expect the trap) with a bunch of creatures on your side as well so its what a Human vs Human/Spirits mirror breaker? Cause the most likely thing a person does is reach for their boardwipe of choice of which most of them care about CMC or are unconditional.
Well I make the case obsoleting all other 2 CMC counterpsells is the point.
Logic Knot can be fine late game sure but early game the cost reduction from delve aint helping you much. Especially against anyone with mana acceleration be it guides, dorks, tron lands, etc.
Well, tell my a cycle where all the cards of the cycle are high power level.
What does Force of Virtue actually answer in Modern? Blue? Any noncreature spell while allowing you to tap out for and still hold interaction. Green? Any lock besides Lattice (which makes sense cause Lattice and Karn weren't in Modern when this was made) or any another annoying artifacts and enchantments at 2 for 2. Black? Anyone trying to cheat in a bunch of creatures which weirdly works as foresight considering Phoenix, Dredge and Neoform running around...White answers nothing at all. I mean was Anger of Gods really so dominant 1-2 Years ago to justify this as a good answer. Cause you are still getting owned by any Wrath and Terminus.
Honestly, i would have taken anything over this in White. Even considering Green and Black took good options. Life Gain, Token Generation, Tax Effect, Tapping or if they really want to buff tokens how about an Instant that gives Indestructible.
Why is Force of White so goddamn awful. White gets screwed in a cycle again. Like at worst I thought we get tokens or life gain and we ended up with something worse. I mean I guess you can dodge Anger of Gods but control mostly drops Terminus or 4 CMC Wrath
Yeah you can make an interesting UW more Midrangey Deck with this.
I think it does its best work in some sort of GW Valuetown deck though with Vizier of Remedies, Devoted Druid, Collected Company and Knight of the Reliquary. Oh also toss in Scavenging Ooze, you can make big fat knights and oozes and swing in uncontested.
Though Geist is intriguing insofar as 6 damage every turn for a roughly 3 turn clock is pretty good.
Even if this could flip instants I am not sure it better then Company since Company gets ETBs and Some Bodies. Whereas the average UR deck probably is flipping some coumters which is situational at best. I mean it does activate phoenix automatically
