It's just that Skyknight Legionnaire is pretty underwhelming. It's been in Standard three times and never been Constructed viable. Also I think Stormchaser Mage is easy to make as good or better than this elemental. So while I think this is good enough to be playable, unlike its Limited-viable-only predecessor, I don't think that warrants disgust. I'm saving my disgust for things that have a negative impact: bucking tradition alone isn't enough. Because some traditions are wrong, especially in Magic. I'm glad the Serra Angel bar was passed by Baneslayer Angel and Lyra Dawnbringer. The inverse is true too, that Lightning Bolt needs to be replaced by Lightning Strike . Essentially, I don't think it's a party foul unless they push a tier 1 or 2 card into being a tier 0 card. Like if Red Deck Wins is the best deck already, then they reprint Lightning Bolt, that means Standard is going to be less fun for sure. I just don't see how Lightning Stormkin threading the needle between Goblin Guide and Storm fleet Sprinter creates a power spike that is going to hurt the game. It just feels like course correction to me, like Skyknight Legionaire could have been a 2 mana uncommon for the past 13 years and would only have seen fringe play.
Isn't that a bit over the top wave of vitriolic?
