so I am hoping nothing gets banned, but that's unlikely. I do hope Wizards at least unbans SFM at the same time. we've had bannings in 2 different announcements since the last unban, they need to GIVE something with these annoncements instead of just taking our money and decks away.
Yes hopefully there are more unbannings rather than bannings but that seems unlikely
If you were to go the unban route, we could probably say that should Hogaak remain, Splinter Twin, Birthing Pod, Treasure Cruise, Dig Through Time, Eye of Ugin, Skullclamp, Stoneforge Mystic, Umezawa's Jitte, and Summer Bloom could all come off, and we still wouldn't end up with a new top tier deck.
oh, I strongly disagree. I think Pod and TC would be at a similar level, a little stronger than the rest of Modern, but not head and shoulders, can easily be fought, like a Tier 0.66 or something. most of the rest would be Tier 1-2, but Bloom is too fast without better answers, ans Skullclamp/Jitte both make almost everything else irrelevant, they are way too strong even for me and should never come off.
Also Eye could only be a swap for Temple, that deck was too brutal

As much as I hate to vote for the fella, I sided mostly with Cedric Phillips. Regarding Rampaging Ferocidon, if nobody cares, then why not unban it? I personally know some locals who actually do care.
I do not understand the Ban decision. Hogaak, Arisen Necropolis is only $4 right now. Altar of Dementia is only $3 right now. They don't need these cards to sell the set, unlike the Eldrazi.
Because both of those cards go up enough to sell packs within a week because they dodged a ban, they weren't going to be expensive while things were so risky.
Less cynical, cards that break with Bridge are going to come along again, Wizards seems to be addicted to that particular mistake. After the last couple years of Dredge, I actually think it's deliberate. But cards that break Altar and Hogaak that badly are extremely rare. Wizards made the choice that was less likely to result in more bans later. On their own, those are two neat cards that bring something new to the format without being broken on the surface. People not initially getting hyped about Hogaak is not us being bad at evaluation, it was us not thinking about taking the big obvious midrange value creature and shoving it in a combo deck. I STILL view it as more of a Tarmogoyf. Those two can exist in healthy shells that don't lead to toxic busted decks. Bridge really can't, there is no 'good enough to play with the big dogs but not a complete busted monster' with that card

solid announcement. i think many of us, including myself, were and are still hoping for some unbans; especially moreso along the lines of the precedent they set last year with the jace/bbe unbans. however for a non-rotating format like modern, and with the higher frequency of b&r announcements there isnt any rush.
if anything the format has been too chaotic as of late. better to give things time to settle
Sad Commander player asks- I don't suppose there is any home at all for a pile of now almost worthless Paradox Engine in Modern ?
its shown up as a 1-of in urza lists. other than that the card is just way too slow to be relevant in a format like modern.
if you are really sitting on a stack of them id bite the bullet quick and dump them as quickly as possible.
Tbh, that helps. I can't stomach selling them at a loss after holding them since BEFORE they were expensive. If they do see a bit of play, I'll hold them. It's super unlikely to see a reprint and if that deck ever gets around to putting up results, they may go back up to $20 in a year or two. It would still feel bad to have missed the window, but I would like to break even, which I can't do right now. Thanks for the info!

I like Altar, it opens up neat strategies, and Hogaak is one of the most creative designs in years. Bridge seems to exist only to break every few months and never just be part of a fair deck that can be interacted with the way it should be. I would have been very sad to see either of the others go, especially because they would probably be quickly replaced with a less interesting but no less powerful card, but Bridge in all the years it was legal never did anything healthy
