This may have been answered, but is MTGsalvation going to be doing spoiler season for ELD? People are still active here, yet all the articles on the main page say the site is taken over by another company. Is it business as usual for us? MTGnexus is essentially the same just not as active right now.
MTGsalvation is safe for now. Mods have alread started MTGnexus tho, but MTGsalvation is not gonna go down for now, covering eldraine release most probably.
I lately noticed that Stirring Address likely takes place on Eldraine. Wizards likes to do that sort of thing. It's possible the queen they're referring to is Queen Marchesa, but she's not super into justice and the background doesn't suggest Fiora. I can't really think of another queen they'd be referring to, but I'm not big into the story. Just a thought.
Maybe they are refering to Queen Arthenia. Jokes aside i could see it happening. Maybe the plane is all about people getting their own Excalibur and some gain special swords and become kings and/or queens or they gain the right to fight for one of the corts or the main Throne.
How many sets will be for this new plane? Just one like for Dominaria (still can't belive we only got one) or two?
From what MaRo said we are only getting one Eldraine set then the next set is also a new plane. But if they have done eldraine like lorwyn, i mean, if eldraine is a transformative plane then the other part of the plane could be considered a new plane as well.
I think it would be better to at least have 2 sets with Rowan and Will, to develop another set of characters and see the acceptance of them. If the speculation that the story is about rowan looking for will (which may work on Eldraine but if their spark are connected and the same, then rowan looking for will in another plane would probably not work unless the planes are conected or if they omited something on this "shared spark" of the twins).
MaRo has already confirmed there are three planeswalkers in Eldraine: Rowan Kenrith, Will Kenrith and a new planeswalker. Karn can't be here.
Has he confirmed for the main set-story or for the whole set? I mean would he consider something done for a suplemental product that is not tecnically in the main set/ the thing he worked in R&D as part of the set? The thing with Brawl decks is they can have planeswalkers and if they are done like the commander decks then the team developing the main set is not the same as the team making the set. And we have confirmation that there will be 7 new cards for each deck, it would be kinda meh if maro said there will be 3 walkers in the main set and some more in the brawl decks... Better wait and see in Gavin Verhey's article or if maro answears that there will be no new planeswalker in the brawl decks.
And While i m at it.
Why and what would karn be doing in Eldraine a very Fairy Tail - darker take on Disney movies - meets King Arthur legend world? ha i have a answear for you...
Well lets be quick and get into the rabbit's hole...
Well if they are making a world about fairy tails why not make some homage to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland while we are at it? What could karn be looking into Eldraine and why i m talking about Alice? Well, what if Karn is looking for powerfull planeswalkers to invade and destroy new phyrexia? Who he could call? The gatewatch? Maybe and probably. But we know Karn has acess to some memories of Urza. If only Urza had fought Phyrexia once... But he did... If only Urza had recruited some powerfull planeswalkers.... But he did... If only they were alive today... Well Teferi is alive and there is another planeswalker that didn't die on screen and did not even appeared.... Yes! What if Karn is looking for Parcher the walker Urza was gonna recruit but as soon as another walker was called for the job Urza dismissed the idea of Parcher on the Titans... Well we only saw his name being called once and it was followed by the thoughts of how crazy or lunatic he was... Well there is a character in Alice with similar features and it is the Mad Hatter ( named Hatta). My theory: We will see Karn looking for Parcher who was the lord/protector of the plane in the past and why the plane looks crazy in comparison to other planes we have seen soo far.
well we ll probably learn more on the set this week as they will make one article on brawl and the new brawl decks. Probably some new arts for legendary creatures or planeswalkers (each deck will have 7 new cards not found on the draft pack). It would not surprise people if they made new planeswalkers and new legendary creatures exclusive to those decks and the $20 boosters (also did they used that karn art on Vryn? hummmmmmmmmmm).
People speculated that this Karn was in Vryn or in a place with Thran architecture but looking at a arthusian set maybe karn is in a ruin of somekind of structure with archs-archways... Maybe karn would not fit well in the main set but could very well appear in the plane on a suplemental product (and before people complain about cash grab on the brawl decks... They have done this for years in the commander decks, if one card indeed sees play in standard they can ban it or print it on the reward-FNM boosters, and they will also be on the $20 boosters soo the cards will not be on a scarcity even if they see competitive play)
I want to belive Karn in Eldraine ! (and a artifact-colorless or close based brawl deck)(they could realy go over the top and make a Wizard of Oz reference lol)
Hell, I rarely see people complain about not having enough kick-ass Asian male protagonist, like, do we have any after Toshiro Umezawa? Hopefully they will come when the time comes.
Sarkhan?
The emphasis is on "kick-ass". Spineless dragon bootlicker doesn't count.
Well Sarkhan and Jiang Yanggu, Wildcrafter are as close to a Asian Kick-ass character as Toshi was. I mean, Toshiro was very skilled but he had real limits on what he could do. He defeated group of people with still mischief and inteligence. He was more of a very resourcefull guy than anything, he had trouble fighting more than 4 somewhat skilled warriors (even non mages) he most of times used alies to cover fights he couldn't win alone. When Kiku and Marrow-Gnawer came after hin with 7 other soldiers he outsmarted them using the eviroment and some kami that had no business with hin and any of the others.
Sarkhan uses dragons to fight when he realy needs but for example in khans he was almost alone and fought his way to the nexus, also in zendikar he was guarding the chamber of the eye of ugin hedron network and he did most of this job alone and not summoning many dragons (but transforming into one).
Jiang Yanggu is more like a Jack Chan green mage with a magic dog that he can make grow with his magic, think he would fit into a martial artist kinda of Assian male Kickass character.
I didn't read the Imperror trilogy to know much about Tetsuo Umezawa but i guess he would fit more into the kickass assian male hole way better than Toshi would.
Well i have to admit, this set feels fresh. It is Innistrad but instead of gotic horror it is Grimms' Fairytales (french-german folklore i guess)( It is not all that new as we saw something similar in Shrek and others but in mtg it is new, and looks like it have a way darker tone than Shrek). It is nice to see old walkers introduced in suplemental products(battlebond) making a come back (tho we only see Rowan, that key art looks badass hope her card is strong). The invite art with Faes was not looking good but now i have to admit that i really want to see more from this set.
I like the art on the mono b booster, looks like a The Queen of Hearts for this plane(but probably is a random common or uncommon ) but with the Brawl decks maybe that art being used on a legendary is a possibility :D.
Oh yeah brawl decks and brawl in arena lol they finaly got it. Brawl in arena will probably make the command crowd go nuts in arena and Brawl decks will be a nice introduction to commander and also a easy product for stablished commander players (another considering the commander decks). They finaly gave the format the suport it needed (time for the revival lol)
On Eldraine i think it is strage that they only revealed Rowan with out Will and also her outfit that looks like a "Little Red Riding Hood" reference and if that is true i wonder if we will get Werewolfs in the set (they don't need to be dfc Greater WerewolfLesser WerewolfTreacherous Werewolf ) and if this is true then maybe Will is cursed to be one in his homeplane (for why he is not in the keyart, but it could also be that he was kidnaped and Rowan is on a rescue mission)
Realy want to see the story of the set like that it looks to be introducing the fairytales direct into magic with minor adaptions (from what we saw soo far)
I mean do we really want another fairy tale plane...?
...You were just asking for Lorwyn-Shadowmoor but you don't want another fairytale-esque plane?
I mean i would also dislike another Aetherpunk plane with rebels fighting for the right to use aether.
If they alread have a very stablished plane that fits the criteria we expect them to go back or change alot of it to make it worth a new plane for the theme. From what we were told this looks alot with something we could see in Lorwyn-Shadowmoor soo unless they show me very wrong tomorrow i will keep thinking about it. But anyway if they show a really unique plane desing it will not change the assumption i had with this "leak" and how litle information we had. It is too soon to call things up i admit but i ll keep thinking for now that another fae fairytale plane is not needed if they could do it in lorwyn-shadowmoor.
I kind would like more 4 color and maybe houses for them, but i think it is kinda hard to fit 4 colors in a unifying theme. We could even think about a tribal theme with FaeUBWG VampireBWUR Bird-AvenWURG(this one is very flaw) maybe a Beast race GRBU idk what would fit in blueless. Gosh i hope it is not 100% tribal or even 60% + tribal (i didn't liked ixalan, i like how the set plays with others but in limited and a new meta a set focused heavily on tribal kinda sucks)
Look it is Lorwyn + Conspiracy + Eldrazi together "we heard you guys like those" have fun
>_>
Where is our viking world? Where is Return to New Phyrexia? Where is our return to Theros? Where is our return to kamigawa? Where is our return to actual Lorwyn-Shadowmoor?
I mean do we really want another fairy tale plane...?
