I was pondering a new deck yesterday and thought that a UBG deck could work.
Basic Skeleton---Needs utility
4 Mind Funeral - Pseudo-Pump spell as well as alt-mill
4 Nemisis of Reason - Big bodied pumper as well as mill alt win
2-4 Lord of Extinction- Could get ridiculously huge after attaking with a Nemisis or get atleast a 4 p/t bonus from a worst case scenario Mind funeral
Basically Im guessing this deck will lean towards the UB with counter back up to protect the lord.
Sideboard could have creature hate of some sort...
seems like there are better ways to win than milling to make a lord bigger. It is a very vulnerable critter, and i seriously doubt it will ever make contact with all the token decks and removal in the format.
If you are trying to focus on mill, then I would suggest Memory Sluice. 1 Black, +5/+5 to the Lord. If you are not focusing on mill, drop the Nemesis down to 2 or maybe completely. I would suggest a lot of counter support, Countersquall, etc. and maybe put a few things that can give the Lord shroud.

How can we truly be free, if we are held in the bondage of clothing?

The problem here is that how will you attack with Lord of Extinction. If he's a crazy 19/19 vanilla. a faerie token will block the guy. What's your tactic to deal with that?
I myself am playing mill with zombies; Nemesis mills for 10, Necromancer's Covenant on the next turn pulls up at least 4-5 zombie tokens 2/2 with lifelink; not counting the buff from Death Baron. When this happens, I use Lich Lord of Unx to utilize his UUBB trigger: opponent mills for 5++ and loses 5++ life.
When I played against it, Mind's Funeral, Memory Erosion and Nemesis proved to be a lethal combo. The Lord doesn't even have to do anything, it puts pressure on a player who is watching all their removal dissapear into their graveyard. Nemesis is the same way. It comes in late, and unless you remove it, it mills for 10 on the attack even if you kill it (with... Progenitus?!?!) which after six turns of Erosion and a couple of Funerals can be half your remaining deck.
It's a fragile midrange combo, but with counters and removal to back it up, it can be effective.
Psychologically speaking I agree; quite amusing how lots of removals go to waste while a big vanilla keeps smiling on the board. Well, maybe splashing Behemoth Sledge couldn't hurt? I mean, Rites of Consumption is pretty obvious (if I met an LOE on board, I'd kept ready for counter if theres shenanigans) while Behemoth Sledge can be kept on the board for 3mana, while distracting the opponent equipping it to another, and when LOE goes to the board, the next turn, he's as good as dead. (10/10++ lifelink trample)
Well, maybe you can play Noble Hierarchs as main one drops. Splash some white into that build for a 4cc deck with VERY VERY light splash of white. With Noble Hierarchs, playing white could be quite easy, and this way, you can play Tidehollow Sculler.
T1 - Noble Hierarch
T2 - Tidehollow Sculler (taking removal) (if you play Sledge first, Noble's gonna die)
T3 - Behemoth's Sledge
T4 - Nemesis of Reason
T5 - Attacks! Mills! Lord of Extinction
T6 - 13/13 (bad luck number) Lifelink Trample with an open mana for counter shenanigans.
The mana curve should be heavy on BG with medium ranged splash of blue for counter spells while keeping only a handful of Fetid Heath and Caves of Koilos (1 each) and 1 Arcane Sanctum and 4 Reflecting Pools. Thats already 7 mana source + 4 Noble Hierarch. Should go heavy on GB
How's that?
If it's Lord of Extinction we're talking about, then Behemoth Sledge is clearly weaker than Loxodon Warhammer. The only reason to play the Sledge over the Warhammer is the additional toughness, and let's face it, if your deck is geared towards making LoE huge (one Mind Funeral usually puts him well out of burn + block range) then the extra fat on him is meaningless, as well the white splash IS a drawback.

I appreciate the posts... I agree that while the most lethal looking threat in the deck would be the Lord... an opponent could easily drop their attention from other things like the mill and such...
I would probably use Warhammer over the sledge removing the splash...trying to keep the deck semi budget:D
what about Font of mythos here?? I dont know if it would really work here....very splashable though :p...helps the mill and pumps my hand full of removal, mill and counters

I've been working on a deck like this and it really seems like combining two decks that don't necessarily work together. LoE gets huge through milling, true. But dedicating slots to protecting it and getting it through take away from the mill theme, and having a lot of cards that mill take away from creature protection. I'm thinking adding LoE as a 1- or 2-of to a dedicated BU mill deck is OK. Or building a BGx deck around LoE, Maelstrom Pulse, etc. and maybe a Mind Funeral thrown in will be OK, too. But not both.
BTW, Mage Slayer is LoE's best friend in a chump-block environment.

Mind Stone does the trick, keeps you two-color, and allows you to smooth your manabase.

A friend of mine built a deck like this.
Countersquall, Broken Ambitions, Mind Shatter, Memory Erosion, heck, you could even throw in Extractor Demon.

We should love mill with Nemesis :d.
Quillspike does it with Rite of Consumption and Loxodon Warhammer.

How's that?
Dont go 4 colors, just run thoughtseize, or negate that will stop removal.
Also maybe go a counter heavy deck with soul manipulations, and slave of bolas.
Maelstrom Pulse, Infest, and Cryptic Command.
Also, it might be janky, but why not Primal Rage?
this is interesting
not sure what to say
