Hello folks, it's time to build a new deck. I have a deck built around a silly little card called Aetherplasm and frankly, it desperately needs an update. Let's see what you guys can come up with:
1. Build For a Casual Multiplayer Setting
2. Legacy B/R: The exception is that Balance, Mental Misstep, Skullclamp, Sol Ring, and Worldgorger Dragon are legal.
3. Explain all additions. [Better have a better explanation than "tech removal" and such.]
4. No single cards over 10$
5. Follow forums rules.
Adding 2x Grozoth...when he's swapped out with Aetherplasm the search effect lets us get other good bombs. I do realize that if not many other creatures end up being CMC 9 he'll be almost dead though, so I understand completely if he gets removed.
And the raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming,
And the lamp-light o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted - Nevermore!
Even if the author is silenced, the performance is stopped, the story will not end.
Whether it's a comedy or a tragedy, if there is cheering, the story will continue on.
Just like the many lives.
For the us who are still in it and still in the journey, send warm blessings.
- We will continue to walk down this path until eternity.
1.) It's great to cheat in with the 'plasm
2.) Has a huge butt so it's most likely gonna survive whatever it's blocking
3.) Possibly castable late game
4.) Has one of my favorite artworks ever
Voting out:
-2 Grozoth: Requires that all/most of our bombs have a CMC of 9. Other than the just added Leviathan and Grozoth itself, we don't have any.
-2 Jareth: Don't see a need to add a second color into the decklist just yet, but this could become viable again if we decided to go W/U.
OK, sticking with the possible Grozoth combo, I'm adding one Bringer of the Blue Dawn. Aside from being a nice 5/5 beater, it gives us cards to stock our hands, further increasing Aetherplasm's effectiveness.
I don't really see the point of Capsize as opposed to, say, Boomerang, or Vapor Snag. That said, I don't really understand the meaning of "tempo". I'll tentatively vote for one to be removed.
2 Soul Foundry-- who ever said that Tokens couldn't trigger the ability. that said, at the cost of one 'plasm, we can have a near endless supply.
I vote to remove Senior Overkill, seriously. if we're gonna use cheap tricks to sneak creatures in play, we can be more inventive than Senior Overkill.
I aslo second the removal of Jareth, no need to add any other colors- especially if we're gonna try to cheap them into play.

Tempo is the speed at which you can drop threats or deal with your opponents threats. For example, if you use vapor snag on an opponents t1 birds of paradise, they might never see the practical use of playing it again. Alternatively, bouncing a high costed creature not only delays that card, but it dramatically slows them down if you can bounce it repeatedly.
I chose Capsize because, even though it costs one more that boomerang, we can potentially soft lock the opponents out of a major threat.

aside from alluring siren blocks, we have no way to interact with fast aggro or utility creatures. voting to add 3x swords to plowshares just in case. would also be great if we had something to protect the plasm from spot removal.
Adding three Siren's Calls. While it's a one-shot spell, it's not vulnerable to removal (unlike Alluring Siren) and can be used to kill off enemy utility creatures.
We already have some white cards, so one copy of Gideon Jura would be perfect inclusion. And he's just under 10$
can you please explain your addition better than "perfect inclusion/playing white" because with that logic, and we're playing blue MacDaddy Gamebreaker is another 'perfect inclusion'.
anywho- adding 2 Equilibrium. since, odds are we're gonna be recasting the 'plasm over and over again, why not utilitize that aspect? we play a 'plasm- bounce one of thier creatures, or bounce one of our things back so the 'plasm has dropbait.
voting against Myojin- kinda pointless in the deck. it's not gonna be indestructible, nor will be able to use it's ability to drop alot of creature.

-1 Myjoin: Doesn't get his counter if he's cheated into play. So he's really just a big vanilla creature if used that way.
-4 Spire Golem: This is just to try and get some trimming going. The Golem isn't a bad card, but we could run one of Rdn's suggestions or something like Raven Familiar. A cheap creature that can hold down the fort and give us a bit of value.
I'll consider another addition after we've slimmed down the deck and opened up a few spots.
I would like a little more filter/early defense, As such, 2x Sea Gate Oracle. I debate between Wall of Omens and Sea Gate Oracle, but I pick oracle because it digs two deep and has 1 power - which can be potentially be relevant
Vote Against;
all Blightsteel Colossus (-3; out) - A little sad to vote against this, but if people don't feel it fits into the deck we might as well as drop it. Senior Overkill is just sooo good though
1 Capsize (-3 for -1) - I know I added the card, but if we really only want to see two of them oh well.
Even if the author is silenced, the performance is stopped, the story will not end.
Whether it's a comedy or a tragedy, if there is cheering, the story will continue on.

I actually do feel that Gideon is pretty good in the deck, I'd have added two to be honest, because we want to see him and wouldn't potentially dislike a second one in our hand.

imo, the Colossi were horribly overpowered since people were of course gonna do everything in their power to cheap him into play.
If you weren't running bounce, and one of these guys hit the field- you may as well just swipe...
I also feel that Infect is one of the most blasphemous acts WotC has done in the past few sets (others being Proliferate, Mythic Rares, Eldrazi, and changing the card face).
At leasts with the Darksteel Colossus, you could atleast chump block to prevent as much Trample damage- then atleast regenerate the chumps.
Infect not so much. the creatures are screwed and so are you since R&D didn't give us a Leeches equivalent (not counting Phyrexian Unlife).
and honestly, since we're cheaping creatures into play- why not be a little more creative that the "obvious" choices?
I actually do feel that Gideon is pretty good in the deck, I'd have added two to be honest, because we want to see him and wouldn't potentially dislike a second one in our hand.
-Forces them to attack, so we can block with 'plasm.
-Can tank damage for some time until we stabilize.
-Can destroy tapped creatures.
-Can become 6/6 dude immune to wrath effects and sorcery removal.
His ability to force attack is really useful in our deck, especially because it's repeatable, other 3 are just great utilities to have. He protects us, deals with tapped creatures, can swing and enables blocks with Aetherplasm, all in one nice package. Is that enough?
yea. you should realize i was just messing with you. i know Gideon had a great synergy with the deck, i'm just trying to get you into the groove of thuroughly explaining your additions-- than being lazy like a lot of other people and saying "perfect inclusion"-- as it's in the rules to explain your additions.
welcome the game.

Yes, I kinda got it, and I agree that choices should be justified. Still proposing to exchange Sea Gate Oracle with Court Hussar.
But if you cheat in a Court Hussar it immediately dies before it has a chance to do damage. At least with the Sea Gate Oracle if you cheat it into play there is a chance it might live to block again.

Hi,
I vote to remove the Spire Golem too.
Three mana is expensive for a 2/4 flying.
I've added one Plumeveil.
Because it fits our colours and because it fits the theme: attack into something and get punished.
Because it has flash, it has some synergy with our counters too...
