Recently, I got a hold of one of my favorite cards: Tolarian Academy. I really, really love this card, and want to play it with my friends. However, there is no denying its inherent brokeness, and I don't want to be playing something super powerful with players who only play in a strictly casual setting. How should I build my deck in order to play my favorite card without outclassing my friends? I only have one, so that helps. I could include less ways to tutor it and less powerful payloads for the massive amounts of mana, but what else should I do?

You should start a thread to discuss deckbuilding.
I don't know why that would be too long of something to post here in Casual, but I don't think you'd get the best type of response to that.
A couple thousand cards can produce an absurd number of decks, and no one here can narrow in on your interests for you. Instead, I suggest looking through your cards and choosing some that you like or a theme that you find, then make a thread asking on how to improve that.
From there you can either trade to get the cards people suggest, find cards that fill similar roles in your collection, or figure out an entirely new approach.
Definitely give us something a little more narrow to start with.
I just got started with the MTG games after getting a random pack of playing cards. The thing is, I have no idea how this game works, like whether cards can be used to "counter" or "compliment" another card on the deck?
So which subforum can I use to ask newbie questions or card specific questions?
The Magic Ruling forum is the place to ask about how specific cards interact with each other or the rules of the game. It is also a great resource to search if you want to see what other people have asked regarding a certain card.
Casual is a pretty good place to discuss any random deck idea. You can also check out the Casual Primers if you want to see some builds of common deck types.
Hello, I made a Horde deck and I wanted to make a post with the decklist, special rules for playing it, and to seek advice from others who've played around with Horde decks to make it better. Would "Casual & Multiplayer Formats" be the right place for such a post? I assume yes, but I want to be sure and what I should be careful about before making the post.
Thank you!

This existing tutorial thread in Casual Primers is now pinned, and I will be putting together a post similar to the one for Pauper.
