Just build a Skullbriar deck focus on Equipment and counter on it. I was wondering which way to go for a good Skullbriar deck against multiplayer game. Is it enought strong to win against combo or aggro deck ?
In my group people play a lot of clean board like damnation, wrath, etc. and also counterspells.
If I can't get enough mana or combo cards I think skullbriar is weak. What do you think ?
Skullbriar is a bit prone to being tucked / bounced if you are relying heavily on him. While you can try to do things like have sac outlets something like a Spell Crumple / Hinder still catches him, sends him to the bottom and requires you to tutor into him and replay him as a 1/1. I like him a lot and I wish he was a bit more versatile but it just seems as though there are too many ways for him to go wrong. Also depending upon how many maze effects are in your group it can be a problem. I have seen him get mazed from players it wasnt swinging at to keep him from getting free counters.
I would love to give you a great tip for playing him correctly but sadly I think there is just a little something missing to make him really good. I would love to have seen some evasion / counter protection or something on him but that might be too much to have asked for considering his cost.
Also, I think I am going to bump this to just the regular commander area. You tend to get a bit of a better discussion going there. People expect more decklists in the actual multiplayer area.
Mark Globus has a very nice Skullbrair deck for multiplayer use (duh, he designed it) that basically pretends to be G/B yardstuff with a very nice backup plan in beating face with skullbriar.
I'd probably go along this route, use Skullbrair as the backup plan, with maybe 10ish cards dedicated to making him awesome (like rancor and some equipment) and then beat face with him.

Tantarus: It didn't make the gaka greifer level, so it should be fine

That does sound like the most successful route to go. I have seen him as Plan A a few times and it never seems to work out so great.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.

Hum can't find his deck list on the Internet. However what king of yardstuff ? Like animate cards ? Flashback ?

My first idea was to pump Skullbriar to get him a lot of counter with Spikes, creatures like Vigor, spells like Increasing Savagery , Rancor, etc and equipments like Swords... With this way Skullbriar is my guy. Will try one more game in multi with this to give a last try.
Maybe I'll give a try with your idea Gaka : use Skullbriar as a backup plan and get others creatures to put pressure on my opponents.
EDH, on the other hand, is more like a monster truck rally. It's more about the spectacle than the race, the games go long, and it's not usually clear who's in the lead until there's only one truck left.*
Single player EDH is like two guys smacking each other with pillows... until one of them pulls out a shotgun.
My brother is enjoying him as the general for a zombie tribal deck, cards like Ghoultree and the plentiful lords they have, like Lord of the Undead, and Undead Warchief. In this route, Skullbriar, the Walking Grave is a nifty tool to apply early pressure, but at the same time it isn't a frustrating game over in the event he gets tucked(though I like to do that as he gets rather annoying anyway)
Cards like Zombie Apocalypse and Ghoulcaller's Chant with Coffin Queen and Living Death to make sure the zombies keep shambling their way towards their opponent. And then while a bit gimmicky, you have Endless Ranks of the Dead to pump out more guys(insane with Grave Titan BTW). Of course you also get Call to the Grave which barely hurts you, and keeps other guys stuff off the board...especially nasty versus voltron decks.
Such a small mana investment for a hasty beatstick is also good at sniping planeswalkers as needed as well.
Not sure why yall are worried about him getting tucked in hand or library, you choose the zone between the original zone ie:hand or the always available command zone
903.9. If a commander would be exiled from anywhere or put into its owner’s hand, graveyard, or library from anywhere, its owner may put it into the command zone instead. This replacement effect may apply more than once to the same event. This is an exception to rule 614.5.

This wasn’t always the case. Since this thread is ~7 years old, that was how that mechanic worked “back in the day”.
