Ashling. Although most versoins are the 1trickpony builds, the deck can win legitimitly on turn 2. with the partial paris mulligian you can see 35 cards on turn 1.
just dig for country side crusher and mill all your lands away.
also the deck has a all so important blow up the world effect that acts like a radical middle eastern nation.
Its my personal deck and i find it a blast to play.
A good "general slayer" and gets rid of nuisance legends like Rolfellos as well. Makes for interesting politics selectively killing generals.
Empress Galina makes for interesting politics as well. "Mine."
I've got an Empress Galina sleeved up in my auxiliary cube next to a Leyline of Singularity waiting for the day that I finally decide to build a deck around her.

Sygg, River Guide and Sygg, River Cutthroat are both pretty solid generals. When most people see River Guide, they think to themselves "Ew, tribal Merfolk." When I saw him, I thought "Holy crap, this guy is practically unblockable and can't be removed while you have mana open..." I built a goodstuff equipment deck around him, and he can get really insane really quick, especially when he is SO resistant to removal.
Sygg, River Cutthroat is a card I eventually used as my general in place of Oona, Queen of the Fae because in multiplayer games he just had so much more value. People never took him seriously, so he would just sit on the field and draw cards for me while my opponents hit one another. And unlike playing Oona, if they kill your general, it isn't a big deal, he doesn't cost much to begin with.
I think Zur the Enchanter is underused. It's common knowledge that he's very strong, but I hardly ever actually see him when I play online.
Well, Zur is just not a terribly interesting deck to play. It is very linear and honestly just not interesting at all, which is probably why a lot of people don't play him.

Hi,
I also have an Ashling deck, but it's not nearly as capable of winning on turn two. Can you please explain to me how it wins so quickly please?

Not to mention he draws hate from everyone else at the table.

T2 mill your deck swing for a bunch
if the deck is un-powerd this happens on turn 3 or 4
you could be stupid and play haste cards in it but you just dilute the combo.
most of the time it takes 1-2 swings to get there, but about 25% of the time my opening hand is a ramp,CCC, not of this world.
Not gives CCC protection in response to removal.
(this is one of thoes 1 trick pony builds)
also this version loves fling. so even if you dont get lethal you can just fling a huge ashling or CCC

I used to get wrecked in the face routinely by my bud's Sygg, River Guide deck. The first time he brought it out, I thought to myself, "Seriously?" But after getting thrashed in just a couple turns I had to reconsider his potential.
I don't think I've ever seen an Isperia the Inscrutable deck but I'm not sure why; tutoring for Reveillark and a lot of powerful, 'Larkable cards like Karmic Guide, finding Consecrated Sphinx, etc, can't be bad, right?

Isperia presents a cute strategy, but if I want to tutor for creatures with anything resembling reliability, I'd rather just add green and go Bant.
Lets just say this, mono colored non blue commanders.
People just feel like they cant play a deck without having 3+ colors these days it seems like. There are a lot of powerful commanders out there that present very strong fronts without the use of multiple colors.

I agree with this. The only problem for me is that mono-colored decks become boring much more quickly for me than multi-colored decks. Norin comes to mind as the epitome of a mono-colored deck that allows for a lot of variety, but a lot of mono-colored decks become linear and repetitive in my mind.

Hell yeah. Mono-black and Mono-Green are plenty powerful by themselves. WR and RG will smash your face in before you WTF, RB will torture you compliant, WG will smite thine unholy arse, and so on.
I don't know for you, but i've didn't see a Arcum Dagsson deck for a while. Pretty neat if you ask me.
Also, squee doesn't get the love that he's deserving. However, i tried to do a madness with it. i had hard time during match at my lsg. Original and fun, but not strong enough

I think that most new playgroups hit the tutor commanders early on and sort of burn out on them. My meta used to run like 2/7 decks as Arcum and they were like the first players to be sick of their decks.
Tutor commanders can be very very dull and boring in general. While they are good, most players are forced to blow you out of the game at every chance to keep you in line.

Totally agree with this sentiment. I had Captain Sisay as my first EDH deck, and loved it. I could win incredibly fast, answer nearly any threat, and even sustain myself late game. Sisay ruled. I still love her, especially as the Weatherlight captain. I just got tired of tutoring for rough cards like Gaddok Teeg and Hokori. People don't like recurrable Winter Orb.
Any Commander who is an engine unto itself will draw heat. Arcum, Glissa, the Traitor, Azami... they all engender ill will. I still love Sisay as a card, but give me a commander that flies beneath the radar any day.

I find it better to include Sisay, Hanna, Azami, Shirei, Zur and so forth in decks that use someone else as the commander. Build them in to use their abilities without completely building around them and you will find they don't generate the same level of hate as if you run them as your general and thus can cast them whenever needed (as opposed to showing up only when you manage to draw or tutor for them) or keep recasting them.
Personally, I just hate Arcum. He's one of the most predictable, and thus one of the most boring, generals to play against. He's tough, of course, but he doesn't tend to make for very fun, social games.
I will use my powers to necro this tread as it is very informational and with many new sets basicly innistrad and up.
Sooooo... i would like to say that i feel like Odric, Lunarch Marshal is heavily underplayed. Althought he is mono white (weak color) A token strat or even beating people down with angles is very underrated in edh.
he also seems extremely fun to build
side note (feel like i am going to get called out on this one)
