I am wanting to build an extremely degenerate deck. I don't care if it is not fun to pilot, as I only plan to use it against people j would not have fun playing against anyway (damn spikes) I want to make it so no one gets to play anything and no one gets to have fun. Basically I want it to make the fun police seem pretty chill.
But I need help to construct this evil abomination.
Jhoira worked for a while, but I got bored and I try to play all of my decks. Since I have been going against a lot of spikes and combo players, I'm salty and want some revenge.
Sou d very dependent on tutors to make sure you get Flash and hulk in hand. And hope not draw a combo price.
The deck runs multiple win conditions and is in the best colors for tutoring. It's resilient, fast, and a threat on multiple fronts. I'm not the best person to describe it but from my limited understanding it's pretty rigoddamndiculous.

Urza paradox engine is what I think is probably the best deck in CEDH for this purpose. Having a two card combo on a general who ramps is ridiculous.
Thrasios/Tymna is probably slightly stronger. But for pubstomping pubstompers, Urza is going to be way more savage with the stax locks and stuff. Tapping Static Orb for mana, sign me up

Probably just need to play a deck similar to theirs and practice until you get better.
I think that in the process of playing a deck of this sort, your opponents actually might have more fun. Spikes do like to play through interaction and against a deck that might beat them.
You can try, but I'm sure you're more likely to have success trying to win yourself than trying to stop everyone else from doing stuff.

Just last night, I played five games, (or more so one and a half, as three of those matches id didn't get to do anything, and one match i could not do anything until two players were gone)
So yeah, i want to return the favor, I don't get to play, you don't get to play. If I get to play my favorite deck and not have to lose a dragon every turn (Or even all every turn)
I don't mind losing it is part of the game, what i don't like is losing without even getting a chance to play.
So i am not looking for a good competitive deck, i am looking for one that does not let them play. Just so they get a feeling of what it is like on the receiving end.
i know the whole speech "Find another playgroup" I play once on a week on thursdays for four hours. (five-nine) I try to stick with casual players but people max out pods at 4, I can;t find another playgroup and i am not gonna spend all night waiting for a pod to clear up so i ca join in. So it ends up being "Don't play, or play against people who will make your deck so inefficient you can't play" I rather find another playgroup or play with my friends like i use to, but that is no longer an option. They don't live close and we all have lives which makes us busy. I already suffer form depression, i don't need to remove the one day of week where I have fun.
But when you are not going to have fun anyway, may as well make sure everyone at your table is not having fun. So that is what i want, the deck does not ave to be fun to play, because the end result is I will not be having fun either way. So instead i want a deck that does not allow anyone to have fun.
But when you are not going to have fun anyway, may as well make sure everyone at your table is not having fun.
This is just an unfortunate thread.
Let me ask you something. Are these people actively trying to make sure you're not having fun? Or are they just playing a different sort of game than you're used to? Ideally this group should be saying something along the lines of "Hey Gashnaw, I see that your deck is having trouble keeping up. Can I either loan you a deck or make some suggestions for yours?" But even if they're not offering help, that doesn't mean their intentions are bad. Meanwhile, your intentions ARE bad. And those intentions may not even work. You may get to that table with a super tuned stax deck and these cEDH players may think to themselves "Nice! More competition that will help me improve my deck and my play versus other strategies!" I know that's how I would feel. If you would like to bring a deck like this to the table and join in on their fun, ThrasTymna Scepter is indeed the best deck in the format. Urza, Najeela, and FC Sliver are great recommendations, and MetaPod is a good way to shake up a competitive scene.
However if this group is not offering help, and they're not just playing their game, but rather they are actively trying to make sure you are not having fun (as you wish to do to them), I would recommend having an adult conversation. There were two people in my college playgroup that didn't appreciate me winning as often as I did and so they would throw the book at me. They would never win, but rather use up all their removal on my things until they lost. This is ill-willed, against the spirit of edh, and against the spirit of friendly competition. Simply put, that behavior is childish. Does it suck that your playgroup is playing a different version of edh than you? Yes, but it's no different than your friends switching to Standard, or moving to a new city without a good Magic scene like I did. It sucks and, barring a conversation about power level where you all come to an agreement, or loaning them some of your low-powered decks, it's not going to change. And I get it. And I'm sorry.
But trying to prevent people from having fun is just vengeful. We're all better than that.
It probably can't stand up to full cEDH decks, but my child of alara deck blows up all nonland permanents every turn starting on turn 4-5. And then sometimes blows up most of the lands for good measure.
I think the fastest to combo deck is "Breakfast Hulk". Based around Flash + Protean Hulk, with billions of tutors to pair them up. http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/breakfast-hulk/
In this respect you can easily combo on Turn 2 or 3 with the right cards. So as far as not playing the game, if you're opponents don't have an answer games are very quick.
I think "Food Chain Tazri" is probably the next fastest to combo and I've played my friends version quite a few times and pulled out Turn 3 wins consistently and even had backup counterspells that I didn't even need to use during the combo turn. http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/food-chain-tazri/
But all these decks are complicated and there are tons of intricate interactions that you'd want to learn and master, so it's not like you can just go in and expect to dominate and win. All the decks need practice to learn what each card is capable of.
It's tough to provide specific pointers without you being very specific about exactly how you weren't able to do anything?
Did your opponents have removal for all of your threats? Did your opponents counter all of your spells? Did your mana get disrupted? Were you locked out with a stax piece?
If you want to build a deck to make others miserable, that's also tough. I mean, I like playing against stax so if you bring it against me, I'm going to have fun. And to clarify, I like playing against stax and I don't have any cEDH decks. Want to make me "feel" miserable, play Control Magic or Sower of Temptation, I don't like my cards on the other side of the table with other people tapping them.
But when you are not going to have fun anyway, may as well make sure everyone at your table is not having fun.
This is just an unfortunate thread.
Let me ask you something. Are these people actively trying to make sure you're not having fun? Or are they just playing a different sort of game than you're used to?
I dunno, would one opponent playing Horobi, Death's wail and Cauldron of souls but only removing your board count as actively not letting me have fun. Even though i am behind on lands, no mana rocks (Because they blew them up), lowest life, and while I do have Mirari's wake out, it is not helping much, as it is just allowing me to cast the empty hand i have. So i have two dragons out for defense, yet he decides to blow them up so the guy with an Aurelia, the warleader and gisela, blade of goldnight can easily attack me freely. Then about half an hour later the game ended.
But trying to prevent people from having fun is just vengeful. We're all better than that.
I would like to agree, but I am not. i am vengeful. If it was one time fine no problem, but this has happened a few weeks now. And what really annoyed me was the fact that these were the guys who complained about my jhoira deck. (granted everyone did)
But now I am playing my extremely casual, "turn things sideways" deck, no combos, just synergy, and i am the one who gets picked on.
If he used cauldron to blow up the board i would have been fine with that. but no, instead he used it just to blow up MY board. The one who was already two feet in the grave and just decided to rub some more salt in the wound before i was killed.
had it been a strong back and forth match and in the end i lost, fine no sweat. But it wasn't i was struggling the entire match to get stable footing, and when i finally did, it was gone.
You need 1 sac outlet and 1 recursion source. Get the most durable ones via tutors for the given situation. Corpse dance with boseiju is pretty impossible to stop, especially with counter backup and lftl to recur boseiju if it dies, etc.
I mean it's not invincible, but it's really hard to disrupt. You've gotta exile a lot of pieces, through counterspells and constant recursion.
But when you are not going to have fun anyway, may as well make sure everyone at your table is not having fun.

This sounds like something that your choice of deck can not solve.

Well in a more casual group it is actually a very powerful deck. Sadly i have been paired with less fun player the past couple weeks.
i am gonna go with Breakfast hulk, it seems easy to pilot and I have most of eth cards already (About 70%) so while i will not be able to buy a timetwister, i should still be abe to get most of it, and maybe throw a budget option in (Like Echo of Eons)

Did that guy win? If so, maybe he was justified in his play. If not, maybe he is still worried about your deck's power level since it sounds like you had a competitive Jhoira deck before. Play enough battlecruiser dragons and eventually the group may realize you're just a guy wanting to swing with dragons. Also, I had never heard of Horobi or Cauldron before, and I've been playing exclusively EDH since Innistrad... That doesn't sound remotely competitive, so you should be able to wipe the floor against these guys with a tuned deck lol. Maybe that's why they're scared of you, their power level is so low that perhaps they're not great at threat evaluation.

Actually I am too, haha. Maybe spiteful would have been a better word choice. Vengeful really ain't so bad
Perhaps, His deck may not have been competitive but it is still very aggravating to deal with. (And they knew what my deck was about, I have been playing the deck for nearly two years now. Sure I have tuned and upgraded it, but it is still Cattlebruiser.
Alesha who smiles at death on the other hand I believe is competitive. And even if it is not, Does spike mean you only play competitive because I thought spikes just meant hardcore.

Kind of, what is teh pricey part (I have all duals, fetches, shocks, checks, filters, really nay kind of land needed I have.
Mostly it's the lands, though, if you've got those it's not that bad. Duals are real important because of fetches, and global ruin in particular.
Decklist is in my sig - it's a little out of date but there's probably only a couple changes I'd make.

It there really enough recursion/sac outlets?
I mean it's not invincible, but it's really hard to disrupt. You've gotta exile a lot of pieces, through counterspells and constant recursion.

What I meant was nothing to do with the deck they are playing or the one you plan on playing.
