I'm okay with it coming off the banlist, but then there's so relatively few cards that are banned compared to the total cardpool available, so I'm not feeling constrained at all in the way I build my decks because I can't use the card.
The reason why I think it would be okay for our playgroup to unban it is that whenever someone drops a card that can you take you far ahead within one round of play (Consecrated Sphinx is a similar offender), that player goes into Archenemy mode, and typically every other player will invest resources to trim that player's board state down as soon as they can. That being said, for this to work you need a meta that is very heavy on removal and disruption, which is a meta not everyone enjoys, I believe.
If people are sick of reading about stuff just stop taking part. You have 100% control over what you read. Simic Ascendancy isn't going to get banned just because you didn't tell someone to shut up on the internet.
Rest of the table: "Now that you've played Prophet of Kruphix, we're going full archenemy mode!"
Prophet player, untapping every turn with a hand full of cards and a ton of Blue mana: "You can go ahead and try."
Or more realistically..... you put pressure on that player all game and don't let them get into a situation where they have all counterspells and full hp. If you get into situations where the player with prophet is sitting that comfy you probably had lost the game before prophet resolved and just didn't know it.
If someone is playing UG ramp, draw, counterspell prophet you need to be pressuring them all game (not just after they play prophet).

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.

This line only really works for an established group, you don't tend to know those details about an opponent's deck beforehand in pickup games or online settings, and I would argue that games fitting either of those criteria make up a meaningful portion of EDH play.
Doesn't that line of thinking just negate the need for any banlist?
Yes, but that's because some play groups actually don't need a banlist at all, or only need an extremely restricted one.

The Meaning of Life: "M-hmm. Well, it's nothing very special. Uh, try and be nice to people, avoid eating fat, read a good book every now and then, get some walking in, and try and live together in peace and harmony with people of all creeds and nations"
Onering's 4 simple steps that let you solve any problem with Magic's gameplay
Whether its blue players countering your spells, red players burning you out, or combo, if you have a problem with an aspect of Magic's gameplay, you can fix it!
Step 1: Identify the problem. What aspect of Magic don't you like? Step 2: Find out how others deal with the problem. How do players deal with this aspect of the game when they run into it? Step 3: Do what those players do. Step 4: No more problem. Bonus: You are now better at Magic. Enjoy those extra wins!

I have been a part of a group with an alternate ban list, they can be very good in a closed group.
