Hmmm... conisdering that Jeleva is mainly just support to the core storm/combo pieces of the deck... do you think your list can be trimmed down to fit Tiny Leaders? :)) Tetsuo Umezawa will carry the banner this time
There are lists out there for that, just google "Tiny Leaders Grixis Storm", most of the lists take out DD, and just storm out, R plays a bigger role in those decks since all the best tutors are banned.
UPDATE: I talked to Moxnix on Skype, he is in the penalty box until March(suspension), but he will be back real soon.
Yes, I would say it is one of the most competitive lists in the forums, but it is also one of the most difficult to master. If you are serious about building it, check out Mox's videos, and goldfish a lot to learn how it works.
Mox will be back in a couple of weeks to answer any further questions you may have, or he might reply on his YouTube page if you have a question.
Dig was bad for all the reasons I avoided it in the first place. However it did teach me how unneeded Tidespout tyrant was. Dig hit 8 on AN fact hits 4. Fact feeds yawg win dig sucked it dry. Dig was often far to slow ( this is the largest issue) and bad in my opening hand fact or fiction does not have this issue. I forget why I originally cut it I believe something about it being "too fair" but I was a fool I have been playing alot of games and it's not going away this time. My deck feels like it's eliminated all the under performing cards. I have uploaded a few new videos lately on my channel I highly recommend the matches against Nprawdzik2 he's a hell of a player so we have some close matches. I've been on such rage with this deck I'm playing it without even thinking. I also had some other good matches joining the competitive edh redit while I was bared here meeting better mtgo players. On paper I've been battling with this deck in full power aginst zur kahlia and azami currently and the deck feels perfect both for 1:1 and multiplayer and I promise I'll get back to massively overhauling my op and laying out all the information in my head in a way to let everyone else join in on the fun stay tuned.
I can post it for you, I work late tonight so it might not be today or Tommorrow when I get around to it. It's not very competitive tends to durdle first few turns ramping mana then plays some one sided chaos lock pieces or time warps then you cast the entire deck around turn 7/8 and kill everyone with grapeshot it's pretty fun though.
So i played some paper tonight 5 player table got 3 games in won the first won very quickly lost the 2nd 2 kahlia won game 2 someone borrowing my ephara deck won game 3 kahlia swtiched to mormir vig so i was agaisnt 4 counterspell decks and i got teamed into oblivion i had a turn 2 necro + reliqary tower off gamble with dark ritual but it gets turn 1 thoughtseized by zur and its all down hill from their. played a bunch of games on mtgo with one change to my deck and its been great so far been great every draw so far
- Seething Song
+ Red Elemental Blast
Seething song felt like the worst card in the deck for awhile now its like 3 mana mana vault that cost a colored REB kills blue for 1 mana
No nothing from the new set so far interest me for this deck. It took me a long time to identify the weakest card for my latest cut and even longer to decide on it's replacement. In the end I just needed more ways to force through my refill in the first few turns of the game. So once I'm looking at a dispel Type card I just had to weigh misdirection dispel and those type cards and in the end decided the best card I was not running that fills this role was REB though I mulled over the thought of one if the many cmc 2 counters I'm not playing for coverage I decide to concede a little but of versatility for an efficient effect that solves the problem I needed it too. Pyro has always been great and thus far it feels great if something outstanding comes out or I notice something underperforming I'll look for more changes but I'm pretty happy with how my games have been going as of late .
So I had a crazy game of 1:1 where I am Able to recover from a devastating 1:1 play thanks to a blunder from my opponent and some heart of the cards level luck .... and of course the replays bugged as hell so I could not record the game however it has some sweet lines despite being a fast game turn wise. I'll see if you can find how I finish the game at the end
I mull to 6 vs Nin the pain artist he's first to play I fairly sure he mulls as well
My hand is polluted delta island island ponder future sight vandalblast
His turn 1 is land go
I topdeck a duress and consider taking a peek but without a crypt or ring opener I decide to open island ponder since I do not wanting to open my only non blue source to a possible strip mine . I also have vandalblast so I use ponder it finds mana crypt talisman of dominance and minds desire I take mana crypt play it avoiding counters and put talisman on top of my deck. He plays land go once again. I decide I want vandalblast online but I don't want my only black source to be on a mana rock so I take a risk and go f fetchto shuffle away minds desire grabing Usea I cast duress first he mana leaks it. I play my talisman and say go.
His turn 3 is brutal he goes mana crypt over loaded vandalblast killing my mana crypt and my talisman and i have no red to kill his ... I think I'm probably done after the 6 mana swing on his turn but I don't pack it in yet
My turn 3 I topdeck a gitaxin probe I cast it for free nabbing me a vampiric tutor which gives me a little hope but that soon fades as I have no protection and I see merchant scroll glided lotus veldakin shackles. I think I'm boned he just gets a mana drain and camps behind it and I'm gonna get crushed . fortunately my opponent is insanely greedy and makes a horrible blunder giving me a window I play my island and say go. ( keep in mind I'm representing counterspell mana when he decides to casually plop out his lotus....)
He tops a land on his turn fetches and instead of grabbing drain and passing my opponent makes an insanely greedy play going gilded lotus into nin and THEN tutors his mana drain with 0 mana available ... I have a chance I vampiric tutor for yawgwin! I play mana crypt followed by my mana rock I use it to duress the mana drain out of his hand it's at this point I play polluted delta and think about how I should continue for quite a long time. Im at like 30 life with crypt in play I could put AN on top and go to 28 but he untaps with a ton of mana and can just bin his nin for counters and there is a decent chance I wiff or kill myself I eventually decide I'm still in a losing position and it's wroth playing probe because I think I have to just use Vandalblast on his lotus and not re tutor to have any chance. Probe hits Lotus Petal! Hit! Now I get to both blast his lotus and I get to tutor but it would put me at 25 life after fetching making AN very risky . I decide that the best card to tutor is black lotus(LED). I can slam future sight and now my tutor and wheels all give me winning lines and I can even possibly hit a land off the top first and possibly cast jeleva if it's wiffs on top I'm in bad shape if he tops a counter either way so I crack for volcanic put LED on top and blast his lotus away
His turn he cast a land ! He wiffed even better it's a island so he he's still on 7 mana he thinks for a long time then He plays shackles and says go this is also interesting to me as he could have dug 2 for cmc 3 counters or 3 fir cmc. 2 counters but he doesn't he plays shackles (. 4 islands in play)
I draw my LED
I cast Futuresight off mana crypt and my islands
He has 4 untapped mana I know his hands is blank with nin and shackles in play
I see mystical tutor on top I have 2 untapped mana and instantly know I have won the game in fact I could win with only 1...
Find the winning line ! I'll post my solution later.
Also uploaded a 3 game series vs LD. Damia

If in this game he had drawn a card that could be bolt but only had 3 open mana from missing his land drop and we had not exiled our blast already we could use this pile since nin is no longer a threat. so
Led
Vandalblast
Labman
Gush
Pact
If we had 1 more mana say due to Future sight hitting a land we can beat all 3
Led
Thought seize
Labman
Gush
Brainstorm
Cool card but it's not good enough here it's just an instant speed mind spring effect but slightly worse in that extra lands get binned and I have to use the first land hit or it's wasted . The fact that it's double red makes it even worse as my reds just a splash . I don't run stroke of genious and the possibility of being one card more efficient is not huge and far outweighed by it's RR in casting cost .
Yea the list is very tight and if I do find a cut for a card there is alredy a laundry list of other cards I want to play for differnt reasons . Honestly on my paper meta my largest problem is just getting teamed really hard when no one else plays combo. Like the control players let khalia steal games untouched because they refuse to tap out even turn 3-4 to counter her because they are so afraid I will instant win. The best part is kahlia has the best threat assessment at the table and lets them hold me down while he crushes the entire table lol. This is fine by me because me and him are winning the most games right now it's just kind if funny how it works out. That being said nothing in my deck feels bad right now it feels perfect and I've played it so many damn times now I feel supremely confident piloting it and rarely make mistakes. I had multiple games this week on mtgo where all 3 players see it's me team me from the word go and I got such good hands those games I still just 3v1 them. The difference is I'm so used to getting teamed at this point I'm getting much better at baiting cards out of players hands etc. Like one game I play a line that looks horrible but it's because I knew it would cause a greedy tap out and let me instantly win ( I had probed him) . It was like he had a remand was the only one on open mana I had a insant win with doomsday mana drain and hurks recall instead of draining first where he probably saves his remand I recall his mana rocks and greaves then walk my mana drain into his remand knowing I'll bait it out for the win. I had a 2v2 game I got spammed with strip mine and artifact kill by turn 8 I've crafted to mana drain demonic tutor yawgwin on only 2 mana sources that's literally all I have but I drain a huge spell and auto win from 2 mana on 3 cards. Best part is no matter how many times I play it I dknt get bored I just like it even more. I have been playing a lot of DDFT in legacy and honestly after piloting this so many times with little practice that deck felt infinatly easier I don't need any pile sheets nothing I can just see how it all works and I'm playing at a lighting fast pace now. Like u says I an working on revamping the OP but I won't apply for primer until I'm 100% satisfied and I'm quite far away from that.
How do you guys feel about copy artifact vs Everflowing chalice
I was trying to figure out what my weakest slot was and decided it's probably Everflowing chalice but I need that slot to be cmc 2 acceleration. I don't like that it cost colored but being able to cast it off a turn 1 ring is negated by copy's double efficiency. It has the possibility to copy things like gilded lotus but it also has the possibility of being dead. I like that chalice can get me free storm and hits 2 less on ad Nauseam. I'll be testing it today on mtgo but I want to know what you guys think.
Yep tested it in some games vs good players copy artifact is way better was on a tear on mtgo played some good opponents but didn't drop a game today
- everflowing chalice
+ copy artifact
was very relevant and won me games
edit: good enough that i ordered a black border beta copy instantly.
So I played a total of 12 mtgo games today went 12-0 copy artifact was always better than chalice would have been did 5 ffa games 1 2hg game 6 1v1 games 4 of them were against someone who is a good player in themeek666 so i might upload those 4 games. I dont think i recorded the best game where i Pact my own spell then swansong my own pact to build like 4 storm for minds desire off jeleva when im out of gas and barley pull out a win using the bird token to block a 8/8 rafiq when im at less than 20 life. Then i use a jeleva'd tunnel vision to go off via past in flmaes. Proportions feel perfect getting exactly what i need in most games.
Hello, I've been following your thread for a while and am considering building this deck in paper. For budget reasons there are 3 cards I won't be able to get: Mana Drain, Timetwister, and Candelabra. For replacements, I was thinking Counterbalance instead of Mana Drain, Runechanter's Pike instead of Timetwister, and Dark Confidant instead of Candelabra. Obviously there are better includes then Runechanter's Pike for multiplayer, but I play a good amount of 1v1 and getting a big graveyard doesn't seem difficult with this deck, especially considering I won't have a Timetwister.
What has been your experience playing against hatebears?
There is a significant amount of Ux aggro in my meta and I am known for playing fast combo, to the point where I'm be a good ways below 20 before turn 4 (making Ad Nauseaum tricky business most of the time). My thoughts were that given the amount of cheap draw and counterspells in the deck, getting the Pike to a +6/7 could make for a reasonable alt-win con in 1v1, the First Strike helps shut off voltron aggression, and only needing to Tendrils for 10 Storm instead of 20 in 1v1 seems like it could be good too. It has the added benefit for playgroups that are hostile to fast combo - you can keep playing Jeleva, just win through massive Runechanter's Pikes instead of not playing EDH for the night. I fully concede that it might be a bad line of thinking, especially the last reason.
You own imperial seal but not drain XD. Dark confidant is a solid replacement especially for 1:1. Of the 3 cards you losing candels hurts a little twister hurts but losing drain really sucks, there is a reason it is literally the first money card I purchased it's stupid. Nothing can really replace it's ability which can pull you back from a losing postion straight to an instant win. That being said proportion wise losing twister is your largest replacement dark confidant doesn't cover it alone in my opinion , I kind of agree with under hill losing a draw 7 would probly require adding a mana source or some form of dig. If you play aginst a lot of creatures and worry about hatebears since your missing some core slots you can always run the best wrath for this deck in toxic deluge. I don't really like drawing a wrath and I don't think it's needed but you have a few more free slots and when your first learning the deck having SB easy out like that can be useful. In fact one of the only reasons I don't use it is i tend to out race almost all creature based problems and in paper the kahlia player would litterally choose to bonk me like 50% more if I ran a dedicated wrath. One major benefit of this add is it's great vs edric who is possibly one of my single worst match ups. In the end I'm sure you could throw in any 3 cards you want and the deck would still function fairly well . I would go toxic deluge dark confidant and cantrip/ effect draw spell/ land. Candels is really fun and powerful but you will notice losing twister and drain much more. If you forgot you don't have imperial seal you really need a reach slot being down a draw 7 and a hyper efficient tutor this would also make a slot like gamble nearly uncutable.
Edit: budget section is coming when I do my next major update that section has taken me much longer than expected as differnt people have differnt budgets and it requires a lot of extra testing to get correct. So what it will look like is not only a list of replacements but a general formula for make edits to my list in general. But I refuse to post a half ass one be patient I'm working on something that should alleviate me having to answer many questions at all.
I've got the Seal already. What about Whispering Madness or Reforge the Soul as the 3rd replacement? Scroll Rack is another option I just thought of that's really good with Ad Naus and big draw effects, but it might not be enough here as it doesn't draw additional cards on its own.
Which of the three should I try to get first? Mana Drain seems like the best addition, as it's super swingy in addition to being the cheapest and most versatile (goes into every blue deck) of the three.
Get mana drain first twister second candel last. Replacing twister with a lesser wheel is not a bad idea I prefer 4 cc to 5 but honestly diminishing returns wispering madness and reforge all have benefits and issues not sure which is best. Mana drain is broken I owned it before I owned fetch lands or dual lands. It's a highly tutored card especially when your behind or losing a game. Scroll rack is a fine card but it's not a wheel I just found it to be too slow.
edit finally broke my winning streak but i was most disappointed i did not get to use the time twister doomsday pile the next turn than i was that i flooded out on mana which almsot never happens with my gas density
Cast cabal rit
Doomsday
Pile
Gush
Time twister
Mind over matter
Pact of negation
Tendrils of agony
Hunters insight into gush
Gush bouncing lands into MoM twister
Bin cards to lotus
Time twister

Gush 2 lands doomsday tendrils pact notion thief GY is twister
Bin 2 lands + thief + pact to lotus via mom
Cast tendrils kill open mana player first vulnerable at this point
Cast doomsday
Hard cast gush
Reset loop with spiral
However you can avoid weakness by not casting tendrils
Piling
Tendrils
Twister
With your re doomsday and cast tendrils
Then reset loop with twister
I am not familiar with the MODO interface. Where is the pile of cards exiled by Jeleva? Is it just the Hunter's Insight, or is your Lab Man under her as well? How about the pile with the Force in it, is that your graveyard?
I couldn't figure it out, so thanks for the write up.
I have the deck on paper now and have been playing for a couple hours a day. This feels like one of the most powerful EDH decks, by quite a margin. I haven't gotten to play any 4 player games yet but I've had no difficulty fighting through 2 people, so I'm not worried about that. I've been putting all my time into 1v1 grinding this deck - there is a 1v1 tournament with the normal banlist this weekend. I'll report back in with a small report on how the tournament went over the weekend. Notable decks that have been at this tournament / I know are going: Geist, UB Sygg, Clique, Rafiq, Kaalia, Oona. Unless there's someone who's been playing this deck in secret, I'll be the only one there with Storm. There's a chance someone is going to show up with 5c Hermit Druid - While I'm not particularly worried about it, I'm also not sure how to handle that matchup. Should I just try to race them or should I play the 'control'? Jeleva randomly winning the game against them is no joke either.
Incidentally, that last line is one of my favorite things about this deck. In most of my games where I don't have enough resources to go off, I just cast Jeleva and if they don't kill her, I win the next turn. Suspend 1 one instant or sorcery from the top X cards of all libraries and exile the rest? That's pretty good when everyone is playing singleton vintage.
There are lists out there for that, just google "Tiny Leaders Grixis Storm", most of the lists take out DD, and just storm out, R plays a bigger role in those decks since all the best tutors are banned.

So what it will look like is not only a list of replacements but a general formula for make edits to my list in general. But I refuse to post a half ass one be patient I'm working on something that should alleviate me having to answer many questions at all.

Which of the three should I try to get first? Mana Drain seems like the best addition, as it's super swingy in addition to being the cheapest and most versatile (goes into every blue deck) of the three.

Mind over matter
Pact of negation
Tendrils of agony
Hunters insight into gush
Gush bouncing lands into MoM twister
Bin cards to lotus
Time twister
Hand is
Gush 2 lands doomsday tendrils pact notion thief GY is twister
Bin 2 lands + thief + pact to lotus via mom
Cast tendrils kill open mana player first vulnerable at this point
Cast doomsday
Hard cast gush
Reset loop with spiral
However you can avoid weakness by not casting tendrils
Piling

Twister
With your re doomsday and cast tendrils
Then reset loop with twister
Now you are keeping pact in hand 100%
