Dont hate me but no ha none yet. They canelled last Thursday so cross fingers this Thursday. I will test out the new cards ans direction. Added cards yall suggested, trinisphere, winter orb, tangle wire. Cant wait to try them out. While waiting to play ill try to keep getting cards for strategies y'all suggested. I admit I did blow some money on a new commander deck I created so you know yea that money could have pimped out the ghave deck, but competitive Wurms man.
Ad nauseum is something I would definitely add. Earthcraft is a bit pricey but almost definitely worth the money. Would like to see the combo you ran across.
Generous patron could work real well. Especially with gravepact or dictate to make them sac the creature with the +1/+1.
Hah! Found the link for the Ghave Combo list I saw. Behold the Glory. Lerker is a great cEDH deckbuilder, so I would trust his card choices implicitly.
So finally an update. I actually had a night of defeat ha. It isn't usually that way my friend made a Uril, the Miststalker deck kind of like a boggles modern deck. That thing not even trying to went off around turn 6 and killed with commander damage. Im not sure if you are familiar with Bogles in modern but it can be quite a pain. The usual excuse but if it were 1 or 2 more turns both games would have been mine.
1st match my field:
Cathars' Crusadeturn 3 Ghave, Guru of Sporesturn 5, next turn he hit me with the Uril, the Miststalker Flying, vigilance, trample. I couldn't stop it. I was going to flash in Dictate of erebos but i didn't have enough mana to use ghaves effect twice. The reason it looks like i had a *****ty field is because the other guy had a Rat with an exile from graveyard effect and a sword of feast and famine and attacked me right off the bat discarding things.
Honestly i played *****ty and kept a hand with Blade of selves, Cathars' Crusade, Dictate of erebos, Regrowth, and 3 lands. A perfect combo against a bogles type deck since i can sac and they can't stop it.... but hard to do with no ramp or land
Blade of selves<--- yes blade was in there it was a 3 player match i can sac the ***** out of everything after the do damage and before they exile... to my knowledge. Sue me ha
Opponents turn he buffed and killed me yet again with flying
for fun i Used March of multidtudes making 1 million tokens, chord of calling, and pulled Mycoloth and made mycoloth a 2 million/ 2 million and lost to flying commander damage with double strike.
Hope this all made sense end of the night i had two possible infinite combos in both games in the starting hand not enough mana to play it. I played horribly.
Devoted druid, Vizier of remedies = infinite mana combo.
I am still ordering cards to go in it.
I played modern also and got a turn 2 win. Hydras for the win
Generally speaking, and particularly for cEDH, you almost always auto-ship an opening hand if it doesn't have an early mana source or 2. 2 is preferable honestly.
When playing against the Uril deck, it might not be a bad idea to consider Rampage of the Clans. While you might flood his board with tokens, you can at least stop the Uril from being a flying death monster of doom.
I strongly recommend you check out the Laboratory Maniacs' YouTube channel here. I think it will give you a great guide on how to effectively play cEDH from a sequencing standpoint as well as evaluating opening hands. It's critical that you have either interaction or fast mana in your opening hand so that you don't die.
Thank you for the feedback i will check that channel out this weekend. I have a modern deck im playing at FNM. Then ill focus my attention back on Ghave.
Rampage of the clans is perfect i don't see the downside to them getting tokens if the commander isn't about to kill me. Ghave is a beast ill just make tokens... or someone will wipe the field that would be funny.
Not quite sure i know what auto-shipping is but i get the jist of what you mean.
I've been playing Ghave for a while now, and I find that in a cedh environment [[Ad Nauseam]] works best for Ghave. The easiest, cheapest way to assemble a Ghave win is Earthcraft+Ghave+Young Wolf+ Blood Artist. In cedh, most decks have 1 or 2 essential winning combos. Having too many dilute the deck. If you focus your deck around 1 or 2 combos, it's much more consistent
@ThatFrenchGuy
Welcome to the cEDH forums! In an effort to help build the knowledge pool for Ghave, do you mind sharing a list for Ghave that utilizes Ad Naus? I agree that keeping it low to the ground and focusing in on 1-2 combo lines is ideal, but it would be great to have someone more qualified than myself offer suggestions on how to improve Ghave.

This guy is the connoisseur of Ghave, and his list is great.
I have one similiar, and you could definitely run a stax type build with adnaus/Earthcraft. In Ghave, you need to utilize stax pieces anyways because Ghave is a slower midrange combo deck. So, stax is ideal. I wouldn't go full out stax, but having specific cards are great.
Cool I will take a look. I am currently buying stax cards... (Slowly) ha ... That benjameenbear suggested. The deck is already working better. Its coming together.
I've updated my list. Ive thought about going heavy on stax, and it works well with Ghave. A good card is Smokestack while using cards like Bitterblossom and Awakening Zone, as well as Ghave's ability for sac fodder. Great stuff haha.
Hi! I played Ghave a lot back in the day (2012-14) and he was such a kill on sight Commander that I ended up getting targeted a lot. Justifiably
I wanted to bring him back because I loved the deck so much. I'm hoping people are less scared of him now, and also that my improved deckbuilding can mitigate some heavy targeting. It seems like some people have continued with the midrange gameplan, and some people like Lerker have gone even faster, leaning into an early Ad Nauseam.
I wanted to go the opposite direction. My list is much closer to Lerker and imoc's Meta Pod deck, which is great because it shuts down fast combo in cEDH metas and aims to win through combat first, while still having the option to combo when the stars align.

2nd match my field
Deathrite shaman, Psychotrope Thallid, Llanowar elves, 3 forest 1 swamp, 1 plains. I had March of multidtudes, Green sun's zenith, chord of calling, congregation at dawn in hand.
Used Green sun's zenith to pull Devoted druid, congregation at dawn to pull Vizier of Remedies, Birds of paradise, and tendershoot dryad. Saced a token to draw from phsycotrope, drew my birds played both.
Opponents turn he buffed and killed me yet again with flying

Would you put this combo in a stax type deck?
