MTG Salvation

As you can see, pretty standard Doran deck. However, it stalls out after turn 5 or so. Playing against a Scion of the Ur-Dragon deck, I always seem to come out strong, and *poof*, fall down.

Please lend me a hand. Look over and gaps I may have, be it with the beaters, fat-pants, etc., and let me know how I can improve this puppy. I do wish to keep it aggro and quick, but I am willing to make some sacrifices.

Doran was born to be a EDH General, and this deck shows it!!!

You need removal, though. That would be why "Poof" happens.

If you could do your thing, all the while getting rid of any pesky crap coming from them, it would really help. You've got some, but you need a whole lot more!!!

Faith's Fetters and friends would be great. (Prison Term is Amazing!!!)
Maybe more black stuff like Shriekmaw and/or Terror?

Why is Charging Paladin teh nuts? 'Cause it's only three mana? Beefiness trumps speed in EDH.

With Doran, he is a 5/5 swinging on turn 4.

When you start at 40, swinging for 5 on turn 4 is not all that impressive, especially in multiplayer games. So Charging Paladin is not all that great. This kind of a deck needs to drop just a few heavy hitters to win the game. It should start out by building mana and controlling the game via board sweeps and then drop 2-3 hard to deal with fatties that should take home the game.

I don't think that warhammer would make the cut... in this case it reads "pay 3 mana to equip: gains trample and lifelink." and clamp wouldn't either... it gives -1/-1, and your creatures have a huge amount of toughness, eliminating the crazy clamp-draw stuff most of the time. My friend's Doran EDH runs vindicate, garruk wildspeaker, tarmogoyf and most importantly, solidarity. Oh and exalted angel is insane to like that other guy just said.

Angelic Proctector + Lightning Greaves. Now THAT is teh nuts.

While that is true, I like this deck since it comes out swinging early, and by turn 5/6, has the opponent on the ropes. I was aiming to make a quick tempo-ed aggro deck, and not worry about uber-high beatsticks.

Moreover, I know it takes many swings to drop someone from 40 to 0, but only 3 or 4 swings with a pumped Doran to get the magic 21 damage in.

But I do appreciate your advice.

I see what you mean about the Hammer, although the trample ability is what I was going for. I may wind up cutting it for a tool-box type of spell. And I agree with you about the clamp... I wasn't really thinking! Lastly, I do not have vindicate, garruk wildspeaker, tarmogoyf, and my finances say NO! to buying some. But good ideas.

In my experience, *poof* happens when you can't keep up tempo, card advantage, or answer-wise. My main criticism of your list is that it plays too many vanilla creatures. Big creatures are good, but I think you should be playing stuff like Ohran Viper, cards the Azbander mentioned, more wrath effects, and cards that let you draw more, like phyrexian arena, necropotence, ambition's cost, etc.

It seems like with Doran, speed probably isn't a problem for you, you can probably always drop a threat, but if you get wrathed you're probably down a lot of cards, so draw would help. Also if Scion of the Ur-Dragon attacks and drops Nicol Bolas or something into the GY it would be sweet to respond with a vindicate, or a putrify or something.

You could probably use more answers; Path to Exile, Condemn, Terror, Devouring Light, Wing Shards, etc.

Also, Guardian of Vitu-Ghazi and Autochthon Wurm are things to think about, as they can Convoke.

Unless you have more than one creature, you can't go infinite, because Greaves gives shroud.

Forgotten Ancient, Slagwurm Armor, Life//Death, and Pernicious Deed are all solid. Timber Protector might be of use too.

Definitely needs plenty more removal.

Oblation (I hear this card is THE BEST REMOVAL IN EDH, mostly because it obliterates generals which can be devastating)
