What is the reasoning behind having Scute Mob in the deck? He doesn't give his ability to the Kraj and it doesn't appear you have any cards that can exploit his +1/+1 counters in any way. Just asking.

I'm going to go out on a very thin, very shaky limb here and guess that it's so we can graft +1/+1 counters off of him and put them on other creatures.
But I'm new to EDH, and new to Kraj (but LOVING him), so I may be wrong, sorry.
There's no real super secret reasoning behind Scute Mob, he just looked fun. I wanted to live the dream of landing Scute Mob with a Doubling Season in play and then Rite of Replication-ing it. So far I've only got it once.
On a seperate note M11 is shaping up pretty good for us so far with the new Survival Bear, Fauna Shaman, and Mitotic Slime. I'm looking forward to them immensely.
I love this general, but I am looking for something competitive. Momir Vig is great, but resolving all of those triggers every time you play a creature spell gets old for me and my opponents. How would you go about making this deck competitive? Care to spoil me with a Primer?
I need some clarification. If a card says "gives X +1/+1", does that count as the Kraj counter? Or if it says it gives +x/+x can that count? Or does he only get the abilities of creatures that specifically have counters? What if your opponent refuses to use counters, and uses dice? I know its semantics, but how does the language of Kraj work?

Dice can represent counters and are relevant to kraj. Creatures that have +1/+1 or +x/+x from effects other than +1/+1 counters are not relevant to kraj's ability

Ok but to extrapolate that, the vast majority of "bonus" card language simply says "This creature 'gets' +1/+1 for each XYZ"....so is that a counter? I mean, you use a counter (dice, the little cardboard ones from long ago, etc) to keep track..........
So am I to understand your answer means the only time Kraj gets their abilities is if there is some language using the word "counter" involved? So a creature that "gets +1/+1" won't apply, but a creature that "puts a +1/+1 counter" will? It seems to me the vast majority is the former, rather than the latter...
Only when the term "counter" is used does it become relevant, regardless of whatever other instances of bonus power/toughness your playgroup uses counters for as a reminder.
You'll note that it's really not that tricky for kraj to put ciumters on creatures as his ability used the term "country". You should also note that the only counters it cares about are +1/+1 counters. You can use +1/+1 counters from other sources, however, such as sources with grafting or effects like Decree of Savagery or Blade of the Bloodchief.
As specific as the ability is, there's still countless ways to abuse kraj.
Ok I'm starting to follow you. But...if an enemy creature has +2/+2 counter from something, say an equipment, and I somehow get him a -1/-1 from one of my cards, does that mean he has a +1/+1 counter now? Sorry if I seem daft, I'm just trying to figure out my options here for the opposing creatures.
here's something silly/awesome- Joraga treespeaker and pila-pala allow kraj to give you infinite mana ( tap for GG, untap for 1 of any color, repeat). With this, you can then put arbitrary amounts of +1/+1 counters on all your creatures, and win quite rapidly.
why mitotic slime? no +1/+1 counters, no activated abilities....
I also run a kraj deck and have seen other kraj players talking about this but lack to see how or why.

Ok i'll try and clear this up for you. Cards that say like "this creature gets plus +1/+1 for each color" or something, are temporary. Because you can remove the enchantment or whatever, that gives it that ability. Now, when something says "put a +1/+1 counter on target creature", those are permanent. They stay until the creature dies or an effect specifically says to remove them. Kraj only has abilities of the permanent counters. Dice, carboard, etc. are just ways to represent the pumps. If you have a guy that has a +1/+1 counter on him, and another guy that gets plus +1/+1 from a constant effect, and you use the same kind of dice for both, Kraj is still only gonna get the one with the counter. Dice and cardboard have nothing to do with his effect. So, things like Strength of the Tajuru will put +1/+1 counters on multiple targets, so he gets those abilities. Cards like glorious anthem will not allow Kraj to get the abilities.

I also agree with you. I have no idea how that would help. Unless people are confusing it's ability with an activated one. Or if it really is activated and im just dense.
Is it possible to have Ib Halfheart, Goblin Tactician sacrifice two Plains to create two 1/1 black Lizard tokens? Yes. And until you have tried doing so, how can you judge the level of efficiency that doing so holds?

1. It's just good, in green.
2. It's an Ooze, like Kraj, so if you were to add, let's say, Coat of Arms, this guy is making Kraj bigger, and Bigger, and BIGGER.
Not every single card in this deck synergizes with Kraj, it's just a good way to keep getting chump blockers, at the least.
I like the Slime not because it has incredible synergy with Kraj, but because it creates card advantage while "dodging" removal, something this deck generally struggles with. It is just an overall solid card. It does, however, have great synergy with Doubling Season...which seems quite fun.
One of the things I generally look for when updating this deck are cards that work well with at least 1 of the 3 following cards: Experiment Kraj (obv.), Doubling Season, and Rite of Replication. Mitotic Slime is great with 2 of them. Thus it is up for consideration.
What is the general "best stuff" in the deck? IE what should I tutor for when I can? I've been going with the Gilder Bairn for the mana-limited infinite tap/untap combo, but maybe I'm missing something. =)
Staff of Dominations got banned in EDH, mate, but I totally agree with you: it is sick. Tooth and Nail is excellent because it goes and gets two combo pieces and puts them into your hand, or mana permitting, into play.
Ask yourself this: Is a card that can go and get any of the following worth getting and including:
Wickerbough Elder and Devoted Druid - with Kraj in play, destroy any and all artifacts you want.
Experiment Kraj and a beastie - because some a-hole Spin into Myth or Hinder him to the bottom of your library
Those two things alone made him worth including for me.
Ok after testing with both Fauna Shaman and Mitotic Slime, I have come to the following personal conclusions: Fauna Shaman is simply not the right card for this deck. She's squishy, dies very easily to most sweepers, and there really isn't anything room in this deck for another tutor on a weenie's body.
Now, Mitotic Slime, fun card, but it's just been a win more card for me. The two biggest benefits I saw for it were lots of chumpy bodies, and a desirable Rite of Replication target. The Rite is win more, honestly. And having the chumps is never an issue with the absurd amount of creatures this deck runs.
So there you go, coming from someone who HAS the cards, and has tested them, I'm not completely impressed and they will be going back in the binder.
Fauna shaman seems like she'd be sick with Experiment Kraj. Turning Kraj into Survival of the Fittest seems like it would be really good. Is she really that hard to keep alive?
