Reflecting Pool works well with Vivid lands. Vesuva is very powerful in this format. It can duplicate a nonbasic land or work as a Strip Mine vs Legendary lands. It also combos with Flagstones.
Nice Miraculous Recovery, I never know that card existed!!!
I made a Brion deck of my own a few weeks ago. I took some advice from this deck. Your should check it out too. I will put up my own deck here in a few days, as I am still play testing it.
An important advice though, a large amount of your creatures are small (under 4 P/T), you should put in some bigger creatures with more powerful abilities
Also, I don't think the giant sub-theme is worth it.
I just got into EDH, and it's crazy fun. I made this deck two weeks ago (some inspirations from this deck), and I have been play testing it. It stands pretty well and fun in multiplayer games.
It's been really fun playing this deck. I just built it, and I couldn't get my hands on land tax, enlightened tutor, swords, serra avatar, sneak attack. Other than that, any suggestions?
Just made my Brion, took some inspiration from you, if you want to take a look. I would actually suggest some more artifact mana acceleration to play those big spells consistently.
To all: The giant sub-theme isn't really the main focus, but it is effective nonetheless. Some of my best creatures are Giants, as they can tutor up something, kill stuff, or do other nifty, relevant things. I'll keep them in there because of how effective they can be.
Bizzaro Bike: Grab The Reins is a good card, instant too. I'll give New Belenia a shot.
Ahkeeyu: No Pool. It's way off my budget and it doesn't really work well with a 2 color deck. I can see it for the Tri-Color dragons, but not for Brion. Vesuva is "eh".
Dr. Awesome: Insurrection...It's big, but I'll consider it for sure. There will be a multiplayer EDH tourny at my store in the future, so I'll be sure to pick up a copy for it.
charles_cool: Thanks for the list and such. Actually, I did some editing in my deck and I happened to put some cards you mentioned: Archon of Justice and Threaten. The other cards don't really suit me well because of a few things: They are just there to beat and thats it; no reuseable effects; or are not relevant. Reverse the Sands is a great card in EDH, but I always find myself ahead in life thanks to Lifelinking power in my deck.
Some of my creature's may not have bigger bodies, but the effects is what I want from them. Besides, Pratically all of my equips minus the Greaves pump up Power tremendously. And Stonehewer Giant makes sure it happens. Smaller creatures like Wispmare is used because I can tutor it. Some creatures like Boros Swiftblade is there for taking advantage of equipments.
Bigger can be better sometimes, but I like to see my creatures make themselves useful by answering certain threats like Control Magic or Umezawa's Jitte.
I did use that deck as part of my blueprints too, by the way.
scarlet_blade12: Just a few thoughts: big creatures are there as finishers, you can't rely on Brion being alive all the time. In fact, in my play group of around 8 players, there is essentially one wrath effect every other turn, after a few wrath, Brion is basically impossible to cast. You need some alternatives, like big dragons or flying dudes as back-up plan.
Reverse the Sands is there mostly to save your teammates, and deal tremendous unexpected to your enemy.
The Harbingers are slow, and they are also card disadvantage, you may want to at least reconsider them.
Btw, my play group may have a different deck style, so my advice might not work so well in your play group. ;):D

Glad you found some inspiration in the deck charles - it has done really well in my group (which is actually rather large, so I've been able to test against almost any type of EDH deck), and it's a LOT of fun to play :D. I have considered adding a Gilded Lotus, but I never seem to have mana issues since I added Land Tax; in fact, I found that I didn't even need Thawing Glaciers anymore, so I dropped that for a Temple of the False God. (besides, I can't find anything else to take out.....the list is pretty tight as it is)
On a completely irrelevant note, I just got the pro tour Promo Eternal Dragon, so now everyspell in the deck is foil (and promo version where available), except for Land Tax, Shattering Pulse, and Allay; which were never printed in a foil version. As for the lands, all I need to foil is the Windswept Heath, and I'd like to get a promo Bloodstained Mire, and the 15 unhinged mountains (they're regular unhinged currently, and the 10 unhinged Plains are already foil) Also, the Plateau can't be foiled; it's a German Black-Bordered Unlimited Copy, so there are no white-bordered cards in the deck.
Thanks for the credit there charles, I like your list so far! It's funny because I see a number of things that have been in my deck in the past.....so let me offer a little advise. In general, it looks a little light on creatures. I found that I needed as many creatures as possible that had a large impact on the game state on their own, without relying on another card. For your deck I'd suggest Exalted Angel, Battlegrace Angel, Archon of Justice, Akroma, Angel of Wrath, and Bogardan Hellkite, and I have to second Dr.Awesome on the MOAR LOXODON WARHAMMER!!!!
I like the Thunderblust......I might have to steal that one from you
EDIT:
also, you reeeeaaally need Anger in this deck....most of the time, your creatures won't last more than a few turns, so it's best to get the most use out of them.
I found skullclamp very helpful, and it can be tutored out by Stonehewer Giant. Mind's eye is a good draw engine. I also like Knollspine Dragon, especially when it's under the red hideaway land (Hi, I steal your fatty, deal 10+ damage to you, then draw a full hand):D:D:D
Another fun card, Reverse the Sands, it is just fun to mess up people's life in multi-player games, and it saves my teammate often
Congrats on the FOILS, I can't believe you actually got all of them... If the new Vault this summer prints landtax, you can get that too
just made a few changes to my deck (the most recent decklist is updated in the first post of the thread)
First of all, I put Kiki-Jiki back in the deck. He's just too good not to use.
I also added a new card - Phyrexian Processor - I can't believe I didn't have this card before! I haven't had a chance to test it yet, but it seems like it will work REALLY well with Brion; cast Processor, pay whatever life your opponent is at, make a token and fling it with Brion FTW! (oh, and gain back the life that you paid!)

Wow... that's awesome. This card is perfect for this deck.
Well, I just got 12 foil Unhinged Mountains for this deck, putting the total number of foils at 92!! All I need now are 2 more foil Unhinged Plains (I already have 10), foil Bloodstained Mire and Windswept Heath (ugh...probably wait till they rotate from extended....hopefully they'll drop in price) and a foil Rugged Prairie. The only cards I can't foil are the Plateau (German Black Bordered Revised instead), Catastrophe (too good not to run) and Land Tax (which I hope will be in the FTV: Exiled box set this August)
Also, I just added Goblin Bombardment to the deck (foil DCI copy of course :D)
......Now I can infinite combo with Reveillark/Karmic Guide, or just have a great sac outlet to make my Threatens into kill spells!

That's awesome. Sucks you can't foil some cards. I think Wizards should just run a FTV of the lands and foil them all. Of course it would ruin the secondary market, it would make your dream a reality.
I've actually been working on duplicating your list myself and so far have picked up about 15 cards to run in it. I just gotta proxy up the list and run it to see how I like it. Don't want to spend a lot of time/money acquiring cards for a deck I end up not enjoying.

Thanks! Good luck putting together the deck. If you like to beat face, and gain life while doing it, then I'm sure you'll like this deck! The large number of answers help to ensure that you'll be in a better position than most everyone else. R/W doesn't have much in the way of card drawing, so your card advantage usually comes from 2 for 1's in the form of sweepers, or even the old "threaten, swing, and fling!" (not technically CA, but it makes a lowly threaten go a lot further) If you have trouble rounding up some of the cards, you could consider taking out the "Reveillark set" for some other creatures. Don't short yourself on creatures trying to fit in other cool stuff though....that's a mistake I made in the past with this deck.
The most crucial parts of the deck (besides the fatties) are:
1) The artifact set - I can't tell you how fun a turn 2 attacking Brion can be, and it's all facilitated by artifacts (turn 1 mountain, sol ring, lightning greaves - turn 2, plains, Brion, equip greaves, turn sideways) not to mention the Phyrexian Processor..... with Brion out, it's a thing of beauty.
2) The Threaten set - Brion Stoutarm turns them into creature removal that deals damage, and gains life....nuff' said. Oh, and there has been a recent errata on Insurrection.....now the text box just says "Win the game."
3) Removal - White is the best removal color, thus, it's one of this deck's greatest strengths.
4) Lastly, a personal favorite trick of mine that works really well in EDH is Reiterate / Wild Ricochet . You may just reiterate a Demonic Tutor, or you could live the dream, and wild ricochet a Time Stretch FTW! (interesting card interaction: If you use sunforger to search out and play reiterate, you have the option to pay the buyback cost and put it back in your hand!)
Yea, sort of. I used to have it in this deck, but it got dropped for other good stuff. Seemed like I would either get it when I wasn't gaining life, or vice-versa. I actually only have 3 cards in the deck that gain life besides Brion. Good alternate card for sure though!
As far as card draw goes I would think you could use Phyrexian Vault for when you threaten multiples and can't sac them all to Brion or if he's not out and Skullclamp. Threaten, equip Skullclamp, attack, fling, draw 2 and do 1 extra damage. Sounds good to me.
Flagstones of Trokair.
Eternal Dragon.
i am a fan of New Benalia.
My Type 4 stack (Cube Tutor link)

Loxodon Warhammer was in, but I felt my deck is too artifact heavy, that sometimes mass artifact removal really hurt me. Maybe I will put it back
I do like Bogardon Hellkite a lot
