I fail to see how that card actually helps the deck. I guess it lets mana dorks attack, but thats really it.
It's cheap to cast and is himself unblockable. This makes all those 1-drop landwalkers be able to hit if they's no one around with that basic land type (as well as the 1/X flyers when opponents have flyers to block).

SonofaBith - Wizards was so excited about making the packaging for Modern Masters 2 recyclable, they decided to make most of the rares and all but 1 of the UC's recycle-bin ready too. Convenient!
Only if you can upgrade another Flying Man. Most of mine are either relevant in some other way like being a rogue or faerie or aren't just a plain Flying Men. I could probably replace Jace's Phantasm though, and the minimal value that Artificer's Assistant could provide is better than nothing.

Please put the colors of your suggestion in mana symbols prior to your suggestion in color-wheel order. To do this, put any of W, U, B, R, G, and/or C, whatever is applicable, with the word 'mana' inside [square bracets] before and the word '/mana' inside [square bracets] after the mana.
Anyone going to play Karn's Temporal Sundering? Seems like a marginal upgrade for those of us running the 6 mana extra turn with awaken.

I can't say I'm pleased to see you and must warn you I may have to do something about it.

Artificer's Assistant seems to be tempting and might give it a minor try, but with having straight up unblockables, rogues, green evasive 1/1s and to a lesser extend faeries, it's probably having a tough fit in the taking turn builds. I can see it perform a tad bit better with the anthem builds.
With Karn's Temporal Sundering it's a tough call in whether or not to cut something else for an additional warp or to just replace one. With Tetsuko being a shoe in new addition I'm leaning towards the latter for my deck. I'll probably replace Part the Waterveil, as I rarely cast it with Awaken. Temporal Sundering is slightly more restrictive to cast but it always has an upside when cast, which Part doesn't have.

Artificer's Assistant is great if you run all the moxes instead of running as many lands.
Its a really nice option to have bc some 1cc foils are expensive for non-Edric reasons. Galerider Sliver and Jace's phantasm fall further down the list of playables.
And Moxes are very sweet. Budget being the only reason to fore-go using them.
Nexus of Fate is probably the only card from M19 that's worthwhile to consider. I like Mistcaller a lot as well, but the fact that it doesn't have evasion is a definite problem. It just depends on how many Yisan, Kaalia, or 'yard based strategies there are in your meta.

You should be more enthusiastic. because Nexus of Fate is about as awesome a card you can possibly hope for. I would play it over Temporal Mastery.
You shouldn't expect to get many- if any cards- for Edric with each new set since this isn't a goodstuff deck. And even when you get a new card(s), it's stuff like Slither Blade. Which means, you're actively hoping for them to print straight garbage for EDH for it to translate well into Edric.
Haha, fair enough. Nexus of Fate is some sweet anti-mill tech that synergizes with our decklist. And even if it gets countered, you'll still be able to draw it back. Too bad it's a Buy-a-Box promo and mostly sold out...
Took a 4 year hiatus from EDH. Only deck that was still relevant is this. Holy crap Mox Diamond went up in price. I updated it with some new cards I found like Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive.
Genesis Chamber's main purpose is to fuel if plan A doesn't go off. I've come back from games well past turn 9 and pulled a win. I've been unable to win any late game without it. People often use the tokens to draw off my opponents instead of holding blockers. That said, this deck needs to pull ahead before turn 5 and have a counter ready on 6 at the latest.

Welcome back, when I saw you post it brought me back to old times lol.
You will also find that essentially all of the good reserve list cards have jumped a good bit. Lots of the "used to be $200 - $300" cards are now $800 - $1000.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
@Naethyn
Welcome back, comrade. Edric has been a mainstay of EDH for quite a while, as his strategy is unique and particularly effective against most Commander decks. I mean, who's really going to block a 1/1 flyer coming at you on T3?
I have my own personal list that I maintain in my signature. It's relatively updated and while not as perfectly streamlined as it could be, I find it consistent and effective enough to win games. Check it out for some ideas there.
The real reason I play Edric is so that I can out-draw anyone at the table. The sheer amount of card advantage that he can generate alongside his dorky and hilarious Flying Men/Slither Blade package makes him a total win for when I want to troll the Animar player in my group.
