All are good choices, your heavier amount of artifact guys certainly helps with the eye. If you do include it (and feel safe from Strip Mines) surely Expedition Map wouldn't be a bad direction, although list is getting tight I' sure. Also Precurser Golem could be tutored for, so another thing in it's favour.
I also play Weiss Schwarz, Chaos, Vanguard and Wixoss.

Thinking more about the Eye of Ugin though... I sort of talked myself out of it because I feel like it would be too much like Citanul Flute which we also decided wasnt good enough. If the Eye tapped for mana then it would be a different story but I dont like it enuogh to think that it would somehow perform exceptionally well...
DECK CHANGE
On the other hand I did notice Winding Canyons... I think it could be a great add to the list as it would be like a land giving us some surprise factor or dropping Marton in at end of opponent's turns which would be totally bad ass... I think the Canyons will go in my list and I will bring in Homeward Path as well and I will see how they go. If I feel like I am cutting too far into my basic count I can easily take out one of them probably the Maze...
Lands are often different to spells, they don't take up slots. It is debatable though that Eye of Ugin since it doesn't tap for mana takes up a slot too. The logic that if flute isn't good enough, nor is the Eye though does make sense.
The Winding Canyons is very clever and I'm surprised it wasn't worked out sooner, it is one of the most underplayed cards in format. HP is also a good idea, but I would run it OR High Market.
When I was playing a situation came up where Crucible would've been a very powerful play (With Strip Mine and variants). Have you ever thought about using it too?

Honestly I dont get really Strip Mine happy in my meta... I include them for the Cabal Coffers / Cradle effects / stupid things like Emeria / Valukut and occasionally if a maze or something really screws with me. However I don't find that I use them that often. The best use for that sort of thing is with a commander like Azusa, Lost but Seeking where you get to abuse it several times per turn. I would more likely just load up on myre strip mine effects over using Crucible of Worlds unless mass LD is a real issue. I would rather give up some colored land for more nonbasic land hate in a mono colored deck.
DECK CHANGE
EDIT: I totally misread Keldon Necropolis earlier as well... I think I might try to get that in as well. For some reason I thought it was a ETB tapped land that saced itself to do 2 damage... I think I like it a lot more now... Hummm do I add it in or cut something for it.... I think I will pull the Maze for it for now.
EDIT 2: I cut Spinerock Knoll and Temple of the False Gods out of my list after some discussion on landbase and how many nonbasics to use. This deck has a lot of things that it wants basics for so unless the ability on it is powerful I think I am better without it. The temple sucks when I have a mana double effect up plus it sucks in the opening hand and the Knoll is hard to trigger myself so I cut it.
The Temple can be bad, although the Knoll is always more an option for a free spell than a must use, so I like idea of it. Buried Ruin is a great idea, although I'm not sure on Terrain Generator, there is often little spare mana if on curve, so opportunity may not come up to use it.

Marton ran quite well last night. I only did one game with him as I was running Xira Arien a bit last night as she finally came in the mail.
Still in the game I did play I dropped Gauntlet of Power on turn 4. 4/5 of the players at the table had red in their colors but I was the only mono colored red commander. Geist of Saint Traft was amusing as he just started opening a can of woop ass on the combo player right out of the gates so I sort of sat back and throw some stuff arround watching my Meekstone in hand the whole time which could have stopped it but it was too amusing to stop. Brion Stoutarm ended up strapping up his commander with 10 power worth of infect and killed Geist of Saint Traft in one shot, guess that is what happens when you have no other creatures really in your deck.
I managed to drop Godo out and fetched up Nim Deathmantle with him. I managed to block someone else's attack as well with Godo and strap him to the deathmantle to go get my skullclamp. Ahhhh I don't know why people don't pay more attention to cards in EDH lol.
I dropped Marton + Insurrection on turn 8 or so. Brion unequiped his sunforger and dropped a Swords to Plowshares on my commander. I responded by equiping his commander up and killing him with 10 infect from his own commander lol. I also killed the combo player off in the Insurrection so it just left this really bad B/R deck that I dont even remember what commander he was running. I toyed with him for a few turns using Memory Jar + Goblin Welder to just lolz draw. I then ran him over with a storm of flying indestructable 17/17+ creatures.
Ohhh ya and Kiki-Jiki made it into my Mimic Vat which was loads of fun The game went well and I am anticipating people paying a bit more attention to my board soon. I am winning far too many games with this deck and people seriously shouldnt be allowing me to untap with a Gauntlet in play even if they are getting a bonus from it too...
I dont really have anything in particular that I am keeping an eye on currently. The deck is working well... If I could I am interested in adding a few cards but nothing in particular is sticking out too strongly as something I dont like.
I got 2 more games in this weekend. Sadly they didnt pan out nearly as nicely:
Game 1: This was just sort of a matter of running out of resources. I got like 0 card draw in the whole game and really no big threats. I managed to spawn 6 creatures off of my Orochi Hatchery before it was answered but then I just didn't have much for threats. Unfortunately I was forced to throw away Kiki-Jiki from my opening hand due to having 3 colorless lands and no red mana production. I did manage to drop Anger and sac him to kill Mayael who was setting up like a champ behind his Lurking Predators + Sylvan Library + Mayael in play so he was sort of lolzing his ass off till I swung everything at him and killed him. Unfortunately it took like all of my resources to do it and then I just sat there dead in the water as my opponents picked me off from there. Just a matter of luck of the draw with no good card draw and a lot of drawing land after land.
Game 2: This one was a different situation I had lolz mana rocks as I flipped a turn one Mana Vault into a Worn Powerstone. Unfortunately even with aggressive mulligan I only had one land and it took me forever to get started and an opposing token deck dropped a Aura Shards and managed to take out like 5 mana stones of mine by the end of the game.... it was really frustrating.
Omnath gave the damn game to Rhys as well as he kept tapping his stupid Patron of the Orochi. Rhys went from 4 tokens in one turn cycle to killing the whole table. We even told Omnath to cut it out off but he just felt like being an ass and killing us all.... The irony here was that I had Warp World that I really wanted to kill him with but sadly I didn't have any mana.... damn Aura Shards.
Well... not a whole lot I can do about either situation. The first one came from just drawing dead and the second situation came from Aura Shards which I really cant do a whole lot about.... It does make me think about adding something like Karn Liberated or something of the sort to this list though.
EDIT: also I found a tidbit on a wikki about the Order of Stromgald and I found it interesting enough to change this thread's name to The Order of Stromgald. I didnt want to be confused with the word Horde in the title to have people think that this was some sort of Horde mode deck so I swapped it. I will see if I cant flush up a larger bit of background on The Order of Stromgald to be added to the OP...
Aura Shards has always been miserable for this deck to deal with, but we are playing red, so can't do too much. Karn is option, but at it's cost it may be too late at times. Gamble has a lot of work to do against some opponents, at least All is Dust was there as option for both games. I've found games with no good token generator are pretty miserable too. Warp World is the way back in the game, but one needs to survive until then and keep some board presence up.
I also play Weiss Schwarz, Chaos, Vanguard and Wixoss.

Ya I think it was just sort of an unfortunate situation where like the only person who really was in a situation to deal with it happened to not care about it and it really hindered both me and a Nin player so he just got to take it to the bank kicking us to the curb with the damn thing.
As much as I would love to devote more removal to it I dont think we can afford to do so. I think it is just going to be one of those plague cards that will randomly be the boggie man for this deck. Thats what happens with mono R though... Anyways the deck is working out quite well still. I did manage to cast off Kozilek again the other day but sadly it was in the game where following that play I lost all my artifacts to a token swarm and I got dropped to the curb. Ohhh well you win some and you loose some.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
I finally ordered the last of the proxies to cover this list. I should have 30 Snow lands for the list finally.... It sort of irritated me spending $30 on the whole snow lands deal for this deck but I am happy to have it covered now. I also filled in a few other utility lands as well as the Dragon Mage and Myr Incubator which I had both still had proxied up.
Looking forward to playing some more games with Marton tomorrow.
Also... I have most everything I can think of to put in a primer included in here now... I want to do more testing with the list and work over some of the OP a bit yet but I changed the name of the thread to [Primer WIP] currently which I plan on eventually updating to a full blown primer when I feel that the deck is sitting well. I want to let it test and work out a few more kinks over the next month or two yet before I want to move it to a full on Primer though.
I don't think Siege of Towers has been mentioned for this deck yet. It's not the fastest thing out there, and it is rather skewed for the late game, but it could nonetheless give a huge creature boost. Just a thought.
Emmara is like the worst parts of Legends and Homelands got pregnant, aborted the fetus, tossed it in the trashcan, set it on fire and wrapped the corpse in a Dragon's Maze pack wrapper.

It is an interesting thought... The biggest downside is that it is sorcery speed so you cant really use it as a surprise at EOT to make a big play... It is really rather risky to be honest and usually I would be more for just flipping Ib Halfheart, Goblin Tactician as his tokens don't require mana to create so I can tap those lands for mana to do one thing then blow them up to make some tokens.
If it was instant speed or cost less to do and wasn't permanent I would be more for considering it. However I feel like it is something that easily would consume most of my turn just to do that for a reasonable number then I might get cleared out by a wrath...
Well... I got arround to poking into Gaka's Norin primer I decided there are a few things I might be interested in running in here:
Grip of Chaos This card is hilarious and we have almost so little targeting in this deck in comparison to other decks. More importantly though this protects my good artifacts from being easily removed and it makes Marton a nightmare to try to deal with if I give him haste. Best of all removing the Grip is a total ***** as it will redirect a lot of enchantment removal to random targets as well so an enchant wrath effect is the only nice way to really do it.
Confusion in the Ranks this is a token based deck and while it jacks with marton I am assuming this will be sort of short lived. This card lets us steal lots of amusing things though and I find it funny... Still I am a lot less sure on this one as it looks more fun than productive. We have enough tokens that I would happily trade arround though that it would be a lot of fun. We cant cast Marton while this is running rampant though. It is high in my consideration for now and something I would like to test.
Helm of Posession this lets us sac a token to steal a Titan or sphinx... that seems plenty powerful enough to warrant inclusion. I currently dont run like any theft unless you want to consider Mimic Vat so it would be sort of nice to run.
Things I am considering potentially cutting for the above:
Hoarding Dragon cute but he can easily backfire so I no longer target my prime targets else a Swords answer them both. He isnt bad at retrieving some halfway decent targets but I dislike how much of a threat it is to go get the really powerful stuff.
Thopter Assembly Really slow and really bad but there just arent that many options for explosive token production in mono R.
Darksteel Plate it is slow to equip and any spot removal sneeks past it and honestly most of the time when I use Marton he has haste so this is sort of moot. It is wrath protection but I strongly dislike slow playing him.
Goblin Bombardment sort of cute as a sac outlet in a Insurection or to ping utility guys away but it doesnt work that well usually. The things that I am afraid of will take more tokens than I usually have.
Myr Incubator it is cool and big but it is slow to use. I have a lot of finishers already but it is faily good especially if I chain it together into a Warp World or something.
Out of the lot of them I was thinking Grip of Chaos in for Darksteel Plate. The plate unfortunately doesn't serve very good protection from spot removal whereas the Grip does.
I would still like to figure out something to swap out for the Helm of Posession as well to give it a shot. I will try to think about it a bit more and figure out what I could cut for it.
I know and he is awfully cute... unfortunately I just dont envision him actually doing much productive. I would love to include him in the list but my token production is sort of sparatic and large scale. I dont operate with a bunch of guys at all times on purpose. I use large explosive token production primarily going into my all in assault. The Warlord is cute but unfortunately far from competative even if this is a mono R deck. I have on occasion considered building a deck for him though just because I could obtain a Alpha / Beta copy for under $5. But still... That would be a much more casual deck than this. While this is mono red it is still fairly competative for being mono red. Keldon Warlord is almost strictly casual.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
Played another game with Marton last night. It was great as I got to sit in the shadows just building up. My hand totally sucked and I kept peeling lands but when I got a Hording Dragon + Goblin Bombardment in play on turn 6 or so. I tutored for Mind's Eye as someone had a stupid Consecrated Sphinx that stuck a whole turn rotation and was still in play and literally lasted all game without being answered... Somehow nobody had a single answer it was stupid. I sat back and drew cards until I hit a Gauntlet of Power at which point I started drawing a ton of cards. Mayel managed to kill Teferi and stop his reign of card drawing using an Avenger of Zendikar and then pumping them by like 4 the next turn swinging in for over 35 to kill him. Memeoplasm tried setting up to protect himself with a Spike Weaver to stop Mayel from killing him the following turn but stupidly tapped out in his turn so he couldn't activate it... interesting tactics, anyways it rolled around to my turn.
I dropped Urabrask the Hidden + Emrakul's Hatcher + Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker + Marton Stromgald all in the same turn... ya I had mana with like 10 lands and Gaunlet of Power in play lol. (I did just draw like 8 cards last turn off of my Mind's Eye when Teferi dropped his Jin.) I used Kiki to copy the hatcher and then I swung in to kill both Mayel and Memeoplasm. U/W Syg was still alive but was hardly doing anything so I left him for last. He had little to nothing to do and next turn Marton came back and killed him with a huge army.
The game was good and due to all of the Consecrated Sphinx bull I got to hide and lie low until I was able to strike. Thanks Teferi for bringing down all the hate in your direction lol. And also not winning the game with drawing well over half of your deck... I think he needs to work on that one a bit.
DECK CHANGE
Also I am going through with swapping Darksteel Plate out for Grip of Chaos. Grip feels like tons of fun and we have sooooo little targeting in here I feel it will be worth it to keep opponents off of our good targets. The biggest thing though is it makes it damn near impossible to target Marton with a spot kill when I go to attack so that is really nice.

I understand logic behind it, but it goes both ways (at least in my version) it also costs a lot. I think plate has justified itself IMO, but see how it works for you. It is pushing it more in direction of control as opposed to combo.
With me, assuming I'm not severely stalled, deck plays out as you described in an attack that kills a half dead person, or going for the big game and 'going off' with Myr Incubator or Ib Halfheart, Goblin Tactician.
When I played last week, the incubator plan failed (due to a fog of all things), but ib plan didn't.

I understand the cost issues however it also keeps opponents from easily targeting other high profile cards of ours such as the mana doublers, kiki jiki, marton, and well... it makes all of our tokens sort of protection for other targets.
I just find that more and more I bring Marton in with haste and the plate doesn't really do much in that situation. Generally speaking the plate is an inferior tactic for me. The first time I cast Marton in the game last night he killed 2 opponents on like turn 10. The second time he was cast he ended the game.

I'm more aggressive I suppose, I will cast him even without win, but enough to batter one person. His first death can often be without any real damage, next he is cast it is meaningful though.
It seems like deck is becoming control if held back that much, but I suspect the game you quote is an anomally.

Actually I will hold back and build resources quite often. I tend to build tokens in play long before I will drop Marton in. Tokens are sort of annoying to try to get past from an attacker's perspective. Who really wants to swing with a 6/6 to kill a 1/1 token that I spawned 4 of when I cast something else. In the case last night someone else was pulling down flack for having like 12-15 mana available and drawing like 10 cards a turn. Luckily that player was sort of new to his deck and doesn't have it tuned as he should and thus has a problem sealing the deal. He was also bringing down a lot of flack from Mayel due to his resources so he was eating a kozilek every turn loosing 4-5 permenants a turn.
Part of what I do in the early turns is build a defense in play with chumps and ramp mana / draw cards if I can. That is what I was doing last night and I managed to get enough ramp to literally just dump a game ending board state in play with haste and kill opponents. I tend to try to cycle my hand as much as possible until I can reach some way to end the game. I dont play marton out unless I can kill multiple people. Playing Marton then dropping Insurrection is another popular way I will play. Some of my own plays come down to how much more ramp I run though. I go for really big turns fueled off of mana doublers and Mana Geyser
I use my list as sort of a surprise attack style of deck.
EDIT: the reason I dont cast Marton in the earlier turns is it makes it harder for me to be as explosive with him later on. If I had cast him twice already when I am sitting at say 12 mana then he will eat up a lot of that mana to be cast. If I had not cast him yet at that point on the other hand I can cast him and then Insurrection trying to kill everyone in one shot. Keeping his mana low for the big plays is important in my mind otherwise it becomes much harder to make the big plays. Plus if you horde him for some time it will make people use resources on other strategies. In the situation last night Sygg had just used a Hinder on Memeoplasm's Survival of the Fittest 2 turns before me and no longer had the ability to counter. If I had played earlier the chances of me eating that Hinder would have been likely.
I stumbled across Haze of Rage as I was looking at some mono red stuff and I thought it was interesting... I dont know how viable it is though but for 10 mana you can buff your creatures +6/+0 which is sort of cute... I don't know if I can honestly invest in this though just because of how expensive it is to build up but of course I would love to dump 20 mana into something like this and give my guys +15/+0 but I think that might be a bit unrealistic. Tears of Rage seems to do this same effect for less mana. Still I found it interesting so I thought I would mention it and possibly put it on the wishlist.

It's certaily interesting, but I'm not sure how often you'll have that much mana spare. It has same quandry as Reiterate, do you ever want to rebuy it or just win on the spot? I can't see a horde surviving to use it twice.

I agree if you start playing with this thing people are going to want to wrath you at that point. Still I thought it was sort of a cute plaything for a token strategy. I do plenty often enough hit 10-20 mana. Mana Geyser alone often pops for 20+ mana for me. The mana doublers also often get me into stupid mana areas however I often have better things to be doing at that point.
It probably wont end up in the list but it is a synergistic card that should probably be on the wishlist and have some thought at the least. Probably not quite up to par to make the list though.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
Ok real quick I wanted to make a change to the list to bring a newly brought to my attention card the other day into this deck so here is the change I am going with:
DECK CHANGE
Hoarding Dragon -> Moggcatcher The Hoarding Dragon has been pissing me off due to the lack of sac outlets in this deck. I have goten stuck with him in play or had him exiled a few too many times and I dont like allowing creature hate to also exile the artifact that I really need. So in this case I am taking the Moggcatcher who can tutor for a bunch of different goblins in this list for me instead. I like that he can pull thim in at instant speed for a low mana cost and give me some card advantage off of this. I had too much worry on Hoarding Dragon about picking my target then on more than one occasion by the time he would die I wanted something else.
GAME REPORT
I also had a game on Friday that went well. I started off unsure how it was going to go as Riku cast his commander on turn 2, and double ramped Cultivate on turn 3... Luckily he was mostly out of steam after that and when he tried making 2 clones of Primeval Titan nin shot him down by poping an Oblivion Stone. I got set back up starting with a Gauntlet of Power and started dropping a few dudes into play.
Riku followed up with a Blightsteel Colosus that gave me a bit of a scare but I just dumped more guys at the board as well as Vicious Shadows to keep people from stupidly wrathing with a one shot wonder in play. The blightsteel went elsewhere and killed Rhys who hadn't had time to set back up since the board wipe and the turn came back to me. I played Marton and declared attacks which Nin was forced to respond with a Chaos Warp on him which didn't go to the Shadows luckily. I passed turn to Nin who was forced to run through his whole hand and pop off another Oblivion Stone thanks to his Academy Ruins. He was sitting with one card in hand as his Oblivion Stone went off which the shadows killed the other two players saving us both from the Infect monster.
From here I dropped a Caged Sun that I drew and pushed around some Wurmcoil Engine tokens I was left with. At the end of turn I utilized by Buried Ruin to bring back a Myr Incubator which got ditched earlier to Kalia's Dragon Mage and dropped + poped it for like 17 dudes which had haste thanks to Anger and I swung in for the last 18 or so life he had with my tokens.
The game went well without too much of an issue overall. I was happy with how the deck performed without Marton in the picture. He was still important and would have won me the game when he came down however I was forced to plan B which still payed out.

It sounds like a good game.
There is a risk with Hoarding Dragon, but it won't always be exiled. Alternatively just don't search for a key piece like Myr Incubator with it if you feel he will just lose it for the deck. One alternative would be to up the sacrifice outlets, such as with Tooth and Claw, but I havent had too much issue with the dragon yet.

Ok I havent done an update for this deck in a while. The deck is still working fairly good. The only real complaint I have to date is I wish I had even more card draw. I had a game the other day where this deck went like critically bad and dropped on me but it was like everyone conspiring against me or something. Elesh Norn was one of the opposed commanders. I got foged twice from killing Elesh Norn (once from the elfball deck.... wtf bad players?) Blazing Archon came down on Mayel's board which was total BS. And Elesh Norn came down and murder sauced my board that literally would have killed everyone for like 4 turns except I ran into a Tumble Magenet + fogs... really lame.
I think I will just chalk that game up to a wtf bad luck though. Overall I have been considering cutting my control for some other options. I dont have enough answers to rely on them and I feel like this sort of deck is better focused on being aggressive as I cannot afford to trade 1 for 1 with opponents threats in mono red. Going forward I was doing a bit of thinking in along these lines:
CUTS: Chaos Warp its good but I cant afford to 1 for 1 in mono R. It is nice but more threats might be better or stealing the threats or whatever.
All Is Dust yes it is a non artifact wrath but honestly I cant think of a lot of times where creatures in play are hurting me. On occasion there are enchantments that are problems but that is what I have Insurrection, Warp World, and my Shadows to just go arround it.
Steel Hellkite I dont know if I have really ever used it to do anything productive however it is in the deck as a bribery target and if I just drop it into play what if someone steals, rezes, threatens it. I havent felt I need it so I think it is a situation where it is safer to just cut it and move to the next thing.
IN CONSIDERATION: Helm of Possession cool as it gives me a sac outlet and psudo permenant theft. I would love love love to steal some C Sphinxes and or Primetimes with this. I think this needs to make it into my list for some face time.
Confusion in the Ranks I think this is more hilarious than anything. It makes it sort of hard to use Marton however in a token based deck it is nice to trade a token into a fatty. I think it is worth playing with a bit and trying out at the very minimum.
War's Toll this is nice as it jacks with people's mana so that they will have a hard time countering / blowing up my important things at instant speed. This deck has very few instant speed responses anyways so I don't really need my mana. Plus if I am swinging it is with everything. It screws with opponents defenses as well which is cute. Is it just a cute card though... I dont know.
Faithless Looting (DKA SPOILED CARD) some great filter. Generally with this deck I need to just dig dig dig to the things I was looking for. Later on it can be great to ditch some lands into this and keep some power cards. Obviously it isn't even released yet but I already mostly know I want it in here.

CUTS:
Chaos Warp its good but I cant afford to 1 for 1 in mono R.
IN CONSIDERATION:
Helm of Possession cool as it gives me a sac outlet and psudo permenant theft.
