Weatherlight, Jhoira's Familiar and Zhalfrin void have all tested well. Karn can be good - but I'd not rush out for one if you don't already have one.
For battlebond, the only card we're really talking about is Victory Chimes. Is it any good? It might be good enough to make the cut. I'm trying it out (as soon as I can get one)
The list on the front page is my most recent 'official' version. I'll test out newer cards and once I've had enough games to feel like the new cards a fit, they'll get a home in the deck and I'll update the list.
I don't see Coveted Jewel as being an inclusion. Here's why:
It's going to get you targeted the moment you cast it - because most Karn builds don't focus on attacking and once you cast this, to really get value from it, you're going to want to attack to regain it over and over. It certainly will shake a table up and get everyone attacking.
Absolutely love this primer and it has helped tremendously when I build Karn. Karn is very dear to me as he was the first legend I ever owned. I have built him every which way including super jank creatureless animate with Karn beatdown, which is very good against board wipes incidentally.
I haven't read every post but there is one card Golem Artisan that has done wonders for me that I think is insane with Karn. Golem artisan doesn't look like much as it is a pretty bad card in general but it fixes a hiccup that Karn has when trying to combo off being summoning sick animated artifacts. Giving animated artifacts haste to combo off that turn, and serving as a win condition itself with an infinite mana engine by swinging with giant artifacts with flying and trample and whatever power and toughness.
Alright so it suffers from being a 5 mana 3/3 with it's win con being combat based, making it a worse walking ballista but the haste enabling can sneak out a win a turn faster and doesn't draw any hate.
Golem Artisan is a flavorful awesome card for Karn in my opinion so if you haven't given him a shot already I highly recommend it.
It's been 6 months since my last update - I'm still playing this deck a bit, but I've scaled down from 10 to 5 decks and I believe this is the only deck I still own that plays infinite combos. I came into the possession of a playset of Mox Diamonds so I included one in here but in no way is it necessary. In Ravnica, there's nothing worth including - the only card that I could see anyone considering including is Screaming Shield as a win condition if you have infinite mana - but it's awful.
As a reminder, the current configuration of the deck is very modular - include any combo packages you like and season to yours and your group's liking.
Oh how fun that this thread is still somewhat alive :)Its been a long time since @Burntgerbil
Yes, i've moved on from Karn. Not sure if i mentioned it here. I got tired of my board getting blown up and me not getting to be able to get back into the game. So i started playing Kozilek instead which later turned into the new kozilek since the old brought so much hate. Now im switching between the two. A card thats been a mainstay for quite some time (but took a leave after i retired him) is my Karn, Silver Golem! He's still pretty darn good to play and animate my manarocks with and attack for a bunch. Or i can just animate 0 mana artifacts and equipments.
And i did manage to get that Mishras Workshop, but its a good proxy (also a tabernacle). Just as i was about to get it. It just shot up in price.
Which are some of the best creatures in the deck. We get mana generation, token creation, card filtering, recursion, and combo pieces with this dude. I think he'll fly below the radar more often than the Weatherlight will - even though I hate to see it go.
Dear, thank you for your ideas for the Karn deck, I am looking forward to how you will change the list now that the paradox is prohibited, as well as an update with all the cards that have come out from spark.
Thanks in advance for your response and don't leave this deck
This thing is still my baby - after a decade, we're still going strong! I don't play it as often as some other decks - primarily because my main playgroup knows it pretty well. I'd have cards in test spots for awhile - but haven't updated the main list in a long time (paradox engine was still in the list!)
Nesting Grounds is in specifically to be able to yank the charge counter off of Blast Zone to hit all tokens. Cute but probably not reasonably useful.
I want to reiterate that out of all of the Commander decks that I've played, this one benefits from valuable cards the least. This is a fun-to-play pile and if I were new to the deck, I'd appreciate the advice to upgrade my manabases (shocks & fetches) as well as staples before considering getting something as ridiculous as a Mox Diamond solely for this deck. Enjoy yourselves out there and I hope this deck gives you as much fun as it still gives me!

I’ve been wanting to build a Karn deck for a while and like what I’m seeing though I would make some small changes.

Who needs Colours?
My most played EDH deck:
X Kozilek, the Great Distortion
UBR Nekusar, the Mindrazer
War of the spark looks alright! So far, I'll be testing at least these couple of cards:
I'm hoping we get a few more new gems in WOTS and Modern Horizons.
Haha, yeah, making all of those mana rocks swing is so good. He can create quite the boardstate. Can swing for so much damage.
And yes, I will also probably test/get all of those cards!

Additionally, I've reluctantly replaced Skyship Weatherlight with Scrapyard Recombiner.
There's not a ton of uses for modular - but it's tap ability seems pretty great. Currently the list of Constructs I'm running are:

These are some of the best cards I've added (with the hunch that they'd remain permanently) in a looong time.
I'm not sure about the lands - they'll be tested for a bit before I figure out if they stay in or not.
Thanks in advance for your response and don't leave this deck
My fear is that I won't be able to really test these cards for quite some time into the future, though.
