i had the Exsang in for a while i only used it for combo because my deck isnt really a big mana deck. i ended up cutting. but it is defiantly powerful and is a staple for a reason

Just finished reading through this whole thread (very impressive) and I wanted to chime in a bit on the extort mechanic, since that's the main reason why I build my Orzhov deck for EDH. I put a couple of extort guys in my Chainer deck at first, and they really pulled their weight. In an average game of EDH, I have at least three opponents, so a three-point life swing for one mana is always worth it. Toss in any of the other life-drain combos (Vizkopa Guildmage, Sanguine Bond, others), and I think it will be worth it. My Orzhov deck is probably going to have 5 or 6 extort guys when it's all finished, and they will all be worth it.
I'm also running three Pestilence effects as well...gotta do something with all that life I stole, and they double as board sweepers. My Orzhov deck is in the sig below if anyone's interested.

Also, I have found out Angelic Overseer in Teysa is a sweet replacement for Baneslayer Angel if you want a pretty angel but your friends are complaining Baneslayer is OP. i run enough humans for her to be decent.
I use Vish Kal now as a secondary commander, mainly because I have one altered to look like Horatio.
So I'm playing more combo teysa, this deck is designed to win through jester's cap(no matter what three cards you remove I still can go infinite) through grave hate (I can combo around it or remove the hate) through counterspells (slightly more difficult but there's a lot of recursion for creatures and sun Titan for everything else)
And I have these combo's
Yosei lock (yosei Nim deathmantle and a sac)
Teysa darkest hour creature and blasting station
Teysa phyrexian altar nether traitor (not a win just infinite any color mana and infinite sac)
Sun Titan angelic renewal infinite sacs
Revillark karmic guide and any sac
So I was both dropping this list for comments to see what every thinks of my list and allow you to see other possible card choices you could use

Also how is Elesh Norn working out? is she mainly just killing peoples bores or just pushing your over the top? also i see your mana base is missing a Cabal Coffers and a Fetid Heath.if your running clone lands you GOTTA run the coffers amiright? Very nice list otherwise. how do you use your single target removal spells? do you use them instantly to assess the threat or do you like holding on them and try to use Teysa or do you let the threat attack other people first. i always found it was "up to me" to have the answer one of the main reason i took out swords and path. Very nice list otherwise

- i played a heavy combo version before and it is insanely powerful especially when your opps have never seen Darkest Hour happen. i play with the same 5-10 people and i still have to show them the loop lol. i ended up playing without it so people would get off my back. what does your meta look like? are the other players cutthorat? relaxed? what decks they playing?
- one card that comes to mind that you might want is Exsanguinate. even if you cant get infinite mana it is still ridic.
- deck also NEEDS a serious Skullclamp might feel cliche but b/w lacks a lot of good draw mechanincs
- i would also try to cut down on the targeted removal and instead replace it with more effective Xplayer cards like Grave Pact or Martyr's Bond
- Tidehallow Sculler seems very underwhelming even if he is "abused" .may i suggest Sadistic Hypnotist.also doubles as another sac outlet.
- that is also a lot of board wipes. is that a meta call ? id start cutting from there if it isnt.(martial coup does both of what you want) other then that its a pretty legit list.

One guy runs a Kaalia with a ton of demons and dragons, so he's the one doing most of the complaining (figures...). I find Baneslayer very balanced, but sometimes she bites me in the ass (Rite of Replication....).
I have pics of Vish Kal coming soon, I'm not at my home for the next 2 weeks and I have nothing but my cell and laptop.
The three (foil, I might add :P) Lilianas are there because she's my favorite planeswalker, along with Elspeth (story-wise, too; I read the books). The original one is a Vampiric Tutor, mainly because I don't own the instant, or a discard outlet when my reanimation engines are running, and her ultimate is something to behold. The dark realms one is a repeatable swamp fetch, really useful by itself, but now that I have a big general I can pump him for lethal general damage, or kill a creature (Avacyn is a very popular target). Plus, her ult is a cabal coffers on steroids. The Veil is mainly a Cruel Edict, that can help get rid of opponents' cards. Plus she's recurrable with Sun Titan, which by itself is really cool. Her ult is the most hilarious, because you separate your opponent's pile in two colors when they are running multicolor, or a land and their creatures or all other lands. It's just so cruel and fun.
Elesh Norn pumps my dudes, and kills many annoying things (Kaalia and Edric being 2/2...). Thanks to her pump ability, I've attacked with a 27/27 Vish and like 5 3/3 (elspeth and sorin in play, pooping tokens everywhere) to win me the game. She's mainly there as a finisher, to just kill people off.
Fetid Heath is coming soon, but I've not seen any in my local card shops, and the only one available is a foil one, which I find the price tag unjustified for just that land. Cabal Coffers is not played anymore because it was always a target for land removal, I was getting too screwed tempo-wise to have fun with it, so I stopped playing it and put it in my demon deck. Plus at two colors it's a very risky card to use. You never want to draw it the first 7 turns.
Actually, most of the clone lands are there to kill others' legendary lands, or copy my own Cabal Coffers (I lend my demon deck to newer players).
I only run 3 removal spells that I remember, and Mortify is there to destroy mainly enchantments, but can help kill a problem creature for me to reanimate. The two white exiles are there mostly for Avacyn, Kaalia and Craterhoof Behemoth, and I hold them until a very important creature is played, in order for it never to be played again. The main reason they are there too is because I have the promo Path (Rebecca Guay's art is amazing), and Swords is my favorite card in all of white. They are to be removed, I just really like to play them. The face your opponents make when they forget you actually run those cards is priceless, because they expect teysa to do the work.
I swapped the cycling lands for a Volrath's Stronghold and the other is there in Fetid Heath's place for the moment.

My meta is fairly cut throat, and they all go for the combo deck, which is why I have 6( I think) board wipes, I often have to tutor for them, just to not die. It's also the only way to deal with uril before he kills me, especially when I have merciless eviction, and hallowed burial.
The 4 spot (unmake mortify path and swords) have been ways to get zur and riku off the field before they do dirty things to me.

I know but I still don't like infinite combos to be honest I replaced the combo pieces with flavor inclusions. We don't have many combo decks in our meta, we have a few but I'd like to keep it like that, I prefer stax anyway.

i am actually working on a stax build myself. i will have two different versions running aside from each other . need to get my hands on a Smokestack
I wish I had The Abyss... stupid reserved list is like a cancer to the game.
Descent into madness is a cheaper alternative to smokestack (plus I have it in foiiil haha), and it is extremely powerful. If you can churn out tokens and the engine gets going, nothing will resist. People dismiss it because of the existence of smokestack, but that's because the latter is purely game breaking. It's like comparing Necropotence to Yawgmoth's Bargain. About the same function, but we all kow Bargain is much better than Necro (strictly EDH speaking, notwithstanding legacy etc.).
The day I have smokestack on board with It That Betrays will be the day I will acknowledge Stax as a fun strategy. I'm still trying to get that achievement.
Also no that sounds like awesome synergy, I don't have D tutor in my list mainly because I traded mine, I have vamp tutor though, I don't want to be tutor heavy, and with all my 2 drops shred memory does a good job. I bought the abyss for like 80 bucks, total steal.
My partner was playing with his general Sheoldred, but had Braids out making our opponenets and us sac one. Which was great synergy and appreciated since I don't have a Braids yet
We were playing Bruna and Geist and they withdrew by the 6th turn due to I was able to keep playing lands making Bloodghast come back, making an Eldrazi token and spirit, and able to discard both players hands constantly. VERY nasty way of dealing with opponents.
I'd call the synergy it does not thing game breaking on its own and is able to be stopped after it started

That's fine I was merely pointing out what I would take for the combo to actually go not suggesting you should run it. I enjoy my combo deck in EDH cause I don't play combo elsewhere EDH is hallowed ground of magic where you still do things for fun as opposed to standard are legacy where winning is first and fun is second (I enjoy the competition but in EDH I can get infinite mana play diabolic revelation for my deck and play every card in it that's fun for fun's sake.) So do what's fun/ fun for all

Who cares about a 4/4 body (not to mention she's a cripple) on a card that was supposed to be a token-generator engine. For 7 mana. Brrrrr....
i kinda agree. im going to give it a few days to soak in .she caters herself to a voltron/beatdown deck and comes equipped with a No Mercy so there is no swing back. i just think the whole token part is ridiculous because who would willingly attack into that to lose their creatures unless it was lethal. and she is crippled for pete sacks. so why is she a 4/4 ughhhhh none of this makes sense lol. im going to build around her eventually. just was expecting a bit more.
a 3/3 or even a 2/2 for 4 wouldve been nice

Cabal Coffers is not played anymore because it was always a target for land removal, I was getting too screwed tempo-wise to have fun with it, so I stopped playing it and put it in my demon deck. Plus at two colors it's a very risky card to use. You never want to draw it the first 7 turns.
Actually, most of the clone lands are there to kill others' legendary lands, or copy my own Cabal Coffers (I lend my demon deck to newer players).
I only run 3 removal spells that I remember, and Mortify is there to destroy mainly enchantments, but can help kill a problem creature for me to reanimate. The two white exiles are there mostly for Avacyn, Kaalia and Craterhoof Behemoth, and I hold them until a very important creature is played, in order for it never to be played again. The main reason they are there too is because I have the promo Path (Rebecca Guay's art is amazing), and Swords is my favorite card in all of white. They are to be removed, I just really like to play them. The face your opponents make when they forget you actually run those cards is priceless, because they expect teysa to do the work.
I swapped the cycling lands for a Volrath's Stronghold and the other is there in Fetid Heath's place for the moment.
I really want to try a "Blood for blood" theme with Vish Kal, with like Grave Pact, Martyr's Bond, Butcher of Malakir. A shame Balance is banned, it would've fit right in.
Also, Y U no Kokusho? Straight up kill people instead of locking them from the game? From experience, I can tell people enjoy kokusho more than yosei.

Ummm Phyrexian Altar, or Ashnod's Altar, Nim Deathmantle, and any guy that brings dudes you can recur = pretty much anway to go infinite with mana and win the game?
Tidehollow can be cut I was just suprised when I was at about 96 cards for the first draft and he actually worked.
My meta is fairly cut throat, and they all go for the combo deck, which is why I have 6( I think) board wipes, I often have to tutor for them, just to not die. It's also the only way to deal with uril before he kills me, especially when I have merciless eviction, and hallowed burial.
The 4 spot (unmake mortify path and swords) have been ways to get zur and riku off the field before they do dirty things to me.

holy moly. you got uril. zur and wanderer? man that sucks lol especially if their competitively built . that seems like a good cut. i think youll be happy with the decision.

Ya my meta is rough zur is rare but Uril and wanderer are pains that's the reason for all the wrath's as it hurts both deck that are there the most as well as karrthyus and zedruu.

I know but I still don't like infinite combos to be honest I replaced the combo pieces with flavor inclusions. We don't have many combo decks in our meta, we have a few but I'd like to keep it like that, I prefer stax anyway.

Descent into madness is a cheaper alternative to smokestack (plus I have it in foiiil haha), and it is extremely powerful. If you can churn out tokens and the engine gets going, nothing will resist. People dismiss it because of the existence of smokestack, but that's because the latter is purely game breaking. It's like comparing Necropotence to Yawgmoth's Bargain. About the same function, but we all kow Bargain is much better than Necro (strictly EDH speaking, notwithstanding legacy etc.).
About combos, would you say Volrath's Stronghold, Xiahou Dun, the One Eyed and Demonic Tutor is a combo? My friends do but I'm pretty sure that's in the realm of great synergy.
The day I have smokestack on board with It That Betrays will be the day I will acknowledge Stax as a fun strategy. I'm still trying to get that achievement.

Also no that sounds like awesome synergy, I don't have D tutor in my list mainly because I traded mine, I have vamp tutor though, I don't want to be tutor heavy, and with all my 2 drops shred memory does a good job. I bought the abyss for like 80 bucks, total steal.

I had Teysa, Pawn of Ulamog, Sadistic Hypnotist, and Bloodghast out.
My partner was playing with his general Sheoldred, but had Braids out making our opponenets and us sac one. Which was great synergy and appreciated since I don't have a Braids yet
We were playing Bruna and Geist and they withdrew by the 6th turn due to I was able to keep playing lands making Bloodghast come back, making an Eldrazi token and spirit, and able to discard both players hands constantly. VERY nasty way of dealing with opponents.

That's fine I was merely pointing out what I would take for the combo to actually go not suggesting you should run it. I enjoy my combo deck in EDH cause I don't play combo elsewhere EDH is hallowed ground of magic where you still do things for fun as opposed to standard are legacy where winning is first and fun is second (I enjoy the competition but in EDH I can get infinite mana play diabolic revelation for my deck and play every card in it that's fun for fun's sake.) So do what's fun/ fun for all

very nice. ogre is ridic because he works off your opps creatures too so when they sac you get a rat. i love the moments like that
i kinda agree. im going to give it a few days to soak in .she caters herself to a voltron/beatdown deck and comes equipped with a No Mercy so there is no swing back. i just think the whole token part is ridiculous because who would willingly attack into that to lose their creatures unless it was lethal. and she is crippled for pete sacks. so why is she a 4/4 ughhhhh none of this makes sense lol. im going to build around her eventually. just was expecting a bit more.
a 3/3 or even a 2/2 for 4 wouldve been nice
