I've been using Sydri as more of an "aggro stax" general. being able to lockdown the board with things like Counterbalance top, smokestack and thopter sword with standstill and other stax elements the damage starts to add up for every turn your opponent isn't doing anything. It's still in it's testing phases, but it's been promising.
Have you guys played some more games with sydri recently? I keep getting destroyed by Jeleva these past days. I just never have a chance to establish any synergy with my commander.
I'm in the same boat as you. I recently built a Sydri deck and played a few games against my Intet deck and found that the deck just doesn't have an aggressive enough board presence. The problem is the deck relies on Sydri, who though cheap, gets bounced a lot, and even when you have her in play, it still takes time to set up any sort of play with here. My deck isn't really running combos, and it takes too long to fish around for all the cards that I need to make the deck have any board presence what so ever. I think the deck calls for a stronger balance between artifacts and creatures, so i boosted by creature count, but now I worry about the curve, since it's hard to ramp in these colors, and once again, it takes too long to set up the board state I need to start cheating creatures into play.
The deck tends to have explosive openings, like 3 mana turn 1, and then it keeps growing, but then I'm emptying my hand too early with cheap spells and I'm not finding any draw cards to big impact cards fast enough.
Yeah, this is probably the biggest problem for me. The deck has the potential to come out pretty fast with a lot of mana rocks and such, but it doesn't really have a good way to go about winning the game, so I end up just making myself into a threat and then getting beat down and killed without really ever having a chance at winning.
I already have Forge + Disk in here, but I've never gotten it online. Scourglass is annoying because you can only use it during your upkeep. All is Dust is probably something I should look into getting for this deck at some point. Mimic Vat is a pretty strong card, but I'm not running a lot of creatures, so most of the time I would have to rely on opposing creatures. The cards like Champion, Plating, and Ravager seem kind of weak for a 40 life multiplayer format, but Blightsteel is definitely on my list of things to get, as is Tezzeret.
I have a Karn deck, and though I really like Sydri, I was afraid there would be too much similarity if I built an EDH deck around her. This list is really cool, though. I like the Cog theme, and having the chance to use Tezzeret is nice as well. Maybe I'll give it a try.
[CARD]
Tiskelavus[/CARD] could be another Triskelion for you, though not as powerful. Leonin Bladetrap is a pretty hilarious combat trick in this deck, too. Also, Goblin Cannon (this feels a little too mean, though.) Any of the Masticores work with deathtouch, too.
I like your playgroup. Mine has similar feelings towards land destruction and infinite/ lockdown combos. I really don't get why people build decks like that. If it were a tournament I would have no problem with "mean" strategies, but... okay, enough rant. Anyway, cool deck.
Triskelavus is so much weaker than Triskelion because it requires me to give Lifelink and Deathtouch to each of the tokens individually, rather than just to on creature. I think it's too mana intensive to make the cut. Leonin Bladetrap is a cool card, but once again very mana intensive. I don't think Goblin Cannon is too mean, especially since you only get it for one turn and then its gone. I think Masticore himself would work the best of the three since he can deal damage to stuff at will without having to worry about cards in graveyards or only during the upkeep like Molten-Tail Masticore and Razormane Masticore.

Hmm... that's sounds like it could be kind of interesting. Do you have your list posted anywhere?

I played a 6-player game with her yesterday and I managed to survive for quite a while because I was able to reuse Expedition Map about 10 times with Salvaging Station to set up Academy Ruins and the UrzaTron lands as well as a bunch of other utility lands, and then I got Spine of Ish Sah going with Thopter Foundry which was allowing me to kill off problem permanents as they came down. Eventually though, a Purphoros, God of the Forge came out and the Prossh player ended up killing off the rest of the table over a couple turns.

I think I want to add Heap Doll to pair up with Salvaging Station since it let's me hate on graveyards exactly how I want to so I can get rid of what needs to go and leave everything else. It's also repeatable and instant speed. I'm dumb.

I think the problem I see with artifact decks is we often get caught up in the machinations and as you point out have trouble sealing the deal. You're busy playing games with your cogs and wheels while someone is just casting Tooth and Nail for the win.
Some ideas:
Yeah, lockdown will do it. Then you can play with your robots in peace and quiet.
Vela the Night-Clad likes artifact-creatures leaving the battlefield, which brings to mind some more creature swarm.
Pentavus can make and sac creatures all day long, or at least as long as you have 2 mana. Makes me want to see a Grave Pact in here since you can make things creatures and then sac them. I think I might animate my own Mana Crypt to kill an Eldrazi. Pentavus not only works with Vela, but brings up another option, Cathar's Crusade. Yeah, that's good with Triskelion too. Lots of ways to go down this road, but there's synergy aplenty without going strictly combo. That indestructible pooper of myr tokens might help. And speaking of myr, Myr Battlesphere can end games pretty quickly.
Oh, and swords. I'm a swords junkie, but they're definitely good here.

What type of lockdown pieces would you suggest? I guess I've never built a deck like that and I'm not sure how to go about doing it.
Vela seems kind of cool, and I guess I could consider it, but I'm not sure if it is the best thing since I don't have many creatures naturally. Same goes for Grave Pact and Cathar's Crusade.
Pentavus and Myr Battlesphere do seem like pretty good options though for sure, and Grave Pact / Cathar's Crusade go very well with them.
As for Swords, I have them all, but I just figured they wouldn't go well in this deck since I don't have many creatures to attach them to.
Edit*
and the swords…even if they just go on the commander they have nice bonus effects…commander damage ftw!
Some of the cards in the first list are definitely things I want to get, especially Akroma's Memorial and Mind's Eye. The second list doesn't apply so much to me because I'm not planning on going to combos anytime soon. As for Swords, you really think they are good enough in a list with less than 15 creatures? I'd be worried that I don't have a lot of consistent targets to attach them to in a build like this.
--
Making some more changes. Meekstone and Crawlspace haven't really been helpful since I don't see too many really aggressive decks and they just haven't done a lot overall. Mirrorworks is very mana intensive and I haven't really been able to get much value out of it. I also feel like I have way too much mana in the deck as I have been ending up with 20 or more mana in a lot of games recently, when I would have wanted more spells to cast instead. If I'm going to cut some mana, should I cut mana rocks, cost reducers, or land searchers first? Let me know what you guys think:
I don't build lockdown decks often. I did one with Erayo, Soratami Ascendant which would probably work pretty well with casting a bunch of cheap artifacts now that I consider it.
One nice thing about your General is that if you cast her post wrath, any artifacts you have out can then be a significant creature presence.
As far as swords, animating one sword and then equipping another sword to it sounds plenty good to me. Fun too.
I dont think you should be cutting on mana rocks because they are nice at ramping, dodging removal and surviving wrath effects. They can do serious damage post wrath too. Personally i would cut on cost reducers because they usually get targeted as soon as they enter the battlefield.
Im not sold on the sword idea yet because even when animated they will be 3/3's and most of the time dealt with easily no?
Let us know how arcum dagsson and mind's eye work out!
I understand you aren't going for infinite combo but with your general on board Mikaeus becomes anti-artifact removal tech. and helps you profit from board wipes.
This may seem silly but it could be a pretty novel, if risky, line of play: Mikaeus and Sydri onboard. Float mana from your rocks, cast wrath, turn rocks into people, wrath resolves, rocks come back in to play untapped with +1/+1 counters on them. =)
Janky? Yes. Unusual? Definitely. Anyhow, goofy idea is goofy.

The problem is that Mikaeus has an extremely easy infinite combo with Triskelion. Running something like that in my deck would make me too tempted to pull it off if I got the chance. I think Triskelion fits better in this deck, so Mikaeus will probably have to stay out.
Overall your build has been an inspiration for me to actually build this deck and thank you for that. It just seems that its either explosive or not. In the next coming days I hope to post it and get your input.

That is definitely a cool interaction with Disciple of Bolas and Spine, but it is a really narrow use, and Disciple would be pretty useless if I don't have Spine out, especially considering my low creature count, so I'm not sure I could put him in just for that synergy. The wellsprings are cool too, but again, I don't have a lot of sac outlets, and running them just for Disciple of Bolas is a bit too narrow for my liking.

I'm running him anyway for card advantage. And with your general, any aritifact can become a creature, so if I dont need something that bad on my board, but i need cards or life, boom. I'll be testing it,I'm still throwing the deck together. Seems to be pretty dang synergistic.
