One expensive deck Guerte! I know there is no replacing Bazaar of Baghdad and Mishra's Workshop but my playgroup does not allow proxies of very strong cards of such. What would you advice for the replacement of both and would it affect the deck a lot not running both of these?
While Bazaar/Workshop do wonders for the deck, they aren't really necessary to run an effective list. You can use any of the other Sol lands (Temple of the False God, Shrine of the Forsaken Gods, City of Traitors, Crystal Vein, etc.) as a replacement for the Workshop. There isn't really a good replacement for Bazaar, but a close second will be Geier Reach Sanitarium from Eldritch Moon, which I will be testing out and most likely will be added to the deck.
The full spoiler for Eldritch Moon is up, and after taking a look at it, there is only one card that would be good in this deck.
Geier Reach Sanitarium: This card is very similar to Mikokoro, Center of the Sea in that it allows you to pay two mana for everyone to draw a card. But what makes this better than Mikokoro is that everyone also has to discard. It's another way for us to get a card in the graveyard at instant speed for later recursion.
Greetings Guerte! So any updates on the Eldritch Moon set? How's Geier Reach Sanitarium treating you?
One more thing, I've come across this deck on tappedout and though it's a little less competitive than yours, its strategy is more straightforward graveyard recursion if I may say. Here, http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/13-11-14-Gfl-daretti/ can you comment on this my friend?
Some notable cards though: Arcbound Ravager (this will create a big problem when not answered), Koth of the Hammer (pseudo gauntlet of might) isn't he better than Chandra?, Jester's Cap (for control), Comet Storm (added instant removal, finisher maybe), Kurkesh, (pseudo RoB effect), Rings of 3 wishes (sometimes paying the ability is cheaper than sacrificing 3 artifacts), Myr Turbine, (this could be food for Kuldotha).
It's like I want to put this 2 decks together to create a mono red deck that is recursive and more redundant for consistency.
I will appreciate your insights my friend.
Phyrexia's Core has been lackluster in this deck. The only function it ever takes on is being another colorless land. Haven't used its sac effect in quite a while, if ever. Geier Reach Sanitarium fills the role of colorless land just as good, but has the added functionality of being able to draw cards and discard things for later recursion, which is a valuable ability to have, especially at instant speed.
Geier Reach Sanitarium has been working wonderfully for the deck. It is an inclusion I am happy to make!
As far as the deck you shared is concerned, everyone is going to play their own style of deck. That really isn't my style; I prefer to play with the cards I run, hence why I run them. Run the cards you like; it doesn't have to be a carbon copy of one or the other.
Arcbound Ravager: Not a big fan of sacking artifacts unless I have Daretti's emblem out, so I don't run this guy.
Koth of the Hammer: Chandra is better in my opinion. She has it all: creature-making, one-sided Wheel effect that nets us a card, and a board wipe, all in one.
Jester's Cap: I typically don't worry about removing control or combo pieces. Takes the fun out of the game.
Comet Storm: It used to be in my list, but was cut out for other things. Still can be a viable card and win condition.
Kurkesh: Don't like the card. It's limited to artifacts, while Rings is all activated abilities.
Three Wishes: Haven't had the need to run more tutors. Gamble and Forgemaster have been working fine for me.
Myr Turbine: It could be a viable option, but I feel like it's better suited for an Arcum deck.

read your primer - awesome! Still have to wrap my head around the winning combos, bt will do that later on!
I will get the red Daretti Deck from C14 and I upgraded my Meren and Ezuri EDHs with 20-50$ I want to do the same with Daretti.
can you think of some smart choices to improve the preconstructed deck?
Fast mana rocks are always a good addition. All it takes is testing and tweaking to find the right combination of cards.
Trouble is I can't find anything I feel good about taking out. Maybe that answers the question
He's definitely going to make a good inclusion. I'm in the process now of updating my list and testing. Once I have good results, I will post my changes.
I can't believe I forgot to do my Kaladesh update!!
I took out High Market and Mirrorpool as I felt they were both underperforming, and with some lands from Kaladesh, were in need of replacing. Decided to drop 2 more Mountains, as the deck can run just fine with only a couple red sources, and Utility lands are at a premium (not exactly sure what that means, but it sounds cool). The rest of the cut cards were essentially removed to make room for the new stuff, and I felt these were safe cuts.
Homeward Path is in here as Bribery insurance. Inventors' Fair is a tutor that doesn't take up a valuable spell slot. Shrine of the Forsaken Gods is another Sol Land that still lets us tap for one in the early game. Sequestered Stash fills our graveyard, and brings back an artifact to the top of our deck. Quicksmith Genius is Daretti 2.0, albeit on a smaller scale, but just as good. Combustible Gearhulk is my new favorite toy! Big beater and either gets us cards in hand or cards in graveyard for future use. Thopter Assembly was added back in to help against flyers. Cathartic Reunion/Tormenting Voice were added for more guaranteed card draw (and also the discard portion).
I'm happy to say that a single of today, we have achieved official Primer status!
I know I probably will never get as close in popularity as Vash's Primer, but I will continue to change and develop my list and Primer so you all have another place to come to for your Daretti inquiries.
Thank you all for posting here, and I hope to continue with this thread for a long time!
Working on my Daretti list. I use much more stax/MLD strats. I see you have a minimal amount. Do you not like the strategy or do you think this is a better list?
Working on my Daretti list. I use much more stax/MLD strats. I see you have a minimal amount. Do you not like the strategy or do you think this is a better list?
I'm not a fan of the Stax strategy. I'm more of a fan of playing an actual game with a lot of interactions instead of shutting everyone else completely out. Stax is probably the more competitive version of Daretti, but when I play him, I want to have fun doing so, and playing with the cards that I have chosen is fun for me.
Not knocking Stax or what you want to play, I just prefer to play this version. That's what's nice about this game: everyone can play what they like! Lol.
So if you want to know anything else about my list, feel free to ask. I would love to discuss!
Well, I'm a little late in getting this review done, but it's better late than never, right?
With Kaladesh, we got some pretty good cards in Combustible Gearhulk and Quicksmith Genius that seemed to be made specifically for Daretti. I had high hopes for something that could take him to the next level, but unfortunately, I feel like that didn't happen.
We only get three cards that could possibly see play in Daretti, and only two will likely make the list, so let's take a look:
Pia's Revolution: This gem right here I feel can be bonkers for the deck. Anytime we weld something away, we will either get it back to our hand, thus gaining card advantage, or we will burn our opponent's in the face, which will help us get closer to winning, or help us keep Planeswalkers under control. I would definitely use caution with this, as it is our opponent's that get to choose what happens, so if we want something in the 'yard, we can't have this out. Other than that, I feel it is a solid card for the deck.
Scrap Trawler: A much better Myr Retriever/Junk Diver. Not only does it trigger up it dying, but any other artifact as well. If we get rid of our biggest artifacts, we can bring back almost any other artifact, or even another mana rock to help us cast our bigger stuff. I do see a good future with this card.
Treasure Keeper: This guy has some synergy with our ability to weld things, but with it being restricted to CMC 3 or less, we don't get to "Cascade" into any of our business artifacts, so I feel like he's a bit subpar and not worth the inclusion.
Sorry for the delay in getting this update out. Life happens and I've been dealing with some issues with my house, so it's been occupying all my time and mental energy.
But, now I have gotten some time to go through the deck and see what I can take out and what I can put in. These updates have *NOT* been tested yet, and are basically "theorycrafting" per say. Hopefully these changes will make the deck better, or at the very least, more fun for us. So, let us get on with the changes.
I decided to try something a little different with these updates. Instead of hiding behind Stax effects to protect Daretti, I wanted to try and make it a little more explosive. So I took out the Orbs/Omens synergy as well as Arbiter in order to make room for some new stuff. Gauntlet was removed as we really don't need the extra mana when we run a bunch of rocks, and can also weld back our bigger stuff. I haven't needed Recoup in a long time, so that was a safe cut. Fire Diamond was a safe cut since we don't really want our rocks to come in tapped and unable to be used until next turn.
Fellwar is back in as it is a rock that comes into play untapped, and can possibly make red if we need (if someone can produce red). Chain Veil is also back in and will hopefully synergize well with Paradox. As far as Paradox goes, I'm not too sure it's a good fit in here yet, as our deck isn't built to abuse it like some other decks, but being able to reuse Veil, Bridge, and other effects may prove to be useful. Planar Bridge is another one I'm not too sure on yet. We can grab any permanent and put it directly into play, which could prove vital for when we are in a pinch, or when we need a combo piece. We can abuse its effect with Paradox and enough rocks/spells to put a bunch of things into play, or infinite mana plus Rings/Key to do the same, but get all of our permanents. Heart of Kiran can make for a decent blocker and can be crewed with Daretti in a pinch. Pia's Revolution is like a mini Combustible so synergizes very well with the deck. Trawler is a better Junk Diver/Myr Retriever as it works with all of our artifacts.
Just wanted to say what a great list this is....please keep updating it.
Thank you very much. I really appreciate that. I definitely plan on keeping it up to date.
I played a game online vs Rashmi last night and it was really crazy. They didn't do much at the beginning, so I was able to rush for Daretti's emblem. I got The Chain Veil out and was able to cycle between his +2/-2 abilities to get some goodies in the yard. I was able to Scrap Mastery into a good board state, but eventually got Cyclonic Rifted. Not once. Not twice. But three times.
Well, I tried some new cards and had high hopes for them, but unfortunately they didn't work out. Revolution just didn't do what I had hoped it would be good for. Turns out I do care if I want something to stay in the graveyard, so it got the cut. Kiran, for the most part, just sat there on defense, so I wasn't getting very much use out of it, and there are far better defense cards to run. Fellwar is the least impactful rock I run, and I needed to cut something to make room for the third card.
I'm putting pack both Orbs and Omens to help control the board more and slow others down in order to get to Daretti's Ultimate and take over the game. In fact, I really missed running these and am sort of glad the other cards didn't work out.
No new real updates. Deck has been running well for me. Planar Bridge is too sweet in this deck, especially when you can tutor out Ugin, the Spirit Dragon and wipe out the other player's board without hurting yours.
Can't wait for Amonkhet to come out so I can update my Mountains to those fancy new ones!
Thank you for all you do. What do you think of Scarecrone? It Coulter slow you to recur important Artifact Creatures.
I used to run it, and I do think it's a good card. However, I ran tight on space in the deck and thought it was a safe cut since there aren't too many creatures in the deck compared to others.
