any reason for not running Grave Pact and Savra, Queen of the Golgari? looks like a great way to further control the board and get value off Sacrifice effects
I know what you're thinking, Wow that is some value! Don't really have straight ooze combo, but I have made some concessions (Blood Pet, Devoted Druid) to get the most out of the occasional Gitrog Monster fueled deck spin. Lots of ways to get there but I usually Essence Harvest with Lord of Extinction or drain "slowly" with Blood Artist+Sac outlets. Not really into Gaea's Cradle, seems like still had all deez.
Defending Krosan Wayfarer and Elvish Pioneer is hard but the high density of creatures helps mitigate my need for sweepers and lets me go deeper in my gameplan. That being said I often take those two cards out for the occasional hate card depending on how much i am getting screwed by the same strategy.
A little off topic, but you brought up some very obscure cards I had forgotten about that are pretty solid as early sacrifice outlets and mana producers/fetchers:
Farmhand is a reverse Dawntreader Elk. He comes down turn 1 instead of 2, and can fetch lands turn 2, as opposed to turn 3. He will most likely replace Devoted Druid in my list. I've not been a huge fan of the druid, given how slow it is compared to our other, more flexible mana dorks some people run Deathrite Shaman or Birds of Paradise.
Wayfarer/Pioneer, while he requires a land in hand to be useful, he is still a 1 drop that can generate a counter. Obviously Wayfarer is preferred given it allows you to throw down any land, rather than just a basic land.
Now these arent particularly fantastic, but they are solid one drops who can generate counters much like Viscera Seer or Spore Frog.

Not a big fan of Lotleth Troll. I get that he gets bigger and you fuel your graveyard (possibly with reanimation targets), but he's just such a dinky threat, and I don't think you are deep enough in reanimation (i.e., no Reanimate, Dance of the Dead, Necromancy or Exhume) to justify its inclusion.
Sure, when Meren is on the battlefield and your opponents are just letting you do things, then it's great, since you can pitch something like Reclamation Sage or Eternal Witness or similar and then just recur it end-of-turn for pure value. But outside of this scenario, Lotleth Troll doesn't do much but be a bear. I think it's safe to let Fauna Shaman and Survival of the Fittest do the heavy lifting here in terms of putting stuff in the graveyard, since their abilities at least doesn't result in card disadvantage.
In that slot, I think I like Evolutionary Leap. It's a bit more mana-hungry, but it also assures that as long as you have G, you can save a creature from getting exiled or unprofitably dying and net a card in hand.
I'd also like to see a Diabolic Intent in there somewhere. Maybe over Overwhelming Stampede, since that card can lead to some unfortunate situations (Have Terastodon in play along with a bunch of bears and other small creatures. Cast Overwhelming Stampede. They path Terastodon in response. Your creatures get +2/+2 or whatever. No good attacks. Pass turn.)
I play Lotleth Troll because of the free discard, loops with Golgari Grave-Troll for Gitrog mills. Diabolic Intent would be fine if I was having issues with consistency, but I see where you are coming from Overwhelming Stampede is almost always a dead draw, may be replacing it with Woodfall Primus. I have bypassed Triskelion mostly because I don't want to be a complete jerk with Necrotic Ooze? If I have three instant speed sac-outlets already (not including High Market and Phyrexian Tower) do I really need Evolutionary leap to protect from "exile" effects? The deck does play Riftsweeper? Have tested Evolutionary Leap but I have not had a lot of success with the randomness of it.
Evolutionary Leap nets you a card in hand. Your other sac outlets, with the exception of Greater Good, don't. For me, that's enough to warrant its inclusion, but I can see why someone might be only lukewarm on the card.

Playing with proxied cards at sanctioned events is good, actually.
You should be really playing fetches to go with your duals.
If this is at me, unfortunately I only have access to so many fetch lands, and I prefer to use them for 3+ color decks (in this case, Marath, Sliver Wueen, and Sharuum), so they're likely a long ways off, especially at the price the Zendikar fetches are currently sitting at.
any reason for not running Grave Pact and Savra, Queen of the Golgari? looks like a great way to further control the board and get value off Sacrifice effects
I'm not a huge fan of Savra, because it's a conditional sacrifice effect, but I do agree that most people should at least run either Grave Pact or Dictate of Erebos, if not both.
I've been playtesting this list and finding it is a little slow during the first few turns. Obviously I need to add more ramp/ lower the curve, but I'm too attached to all the cards in the list and need another set of eyes to point out the flaws. Maybe it has enough ramp and its all in my head.
Would love some suggestions!

The following I have cut, and reasons why: Puppeteer Clique too dependent on your opponents having anything of value to grab, graveyard hate, etc. It was too situational and even when it would work for me, it more often than not didnt. Depends on your meta Black Market at 5CMC, its worthless unless you have a way to dump the mana, ie, exsanguinate Sepulchral Primordial same as clique for me Champion of Stray Souls You're paying 11 mana to hopefully get some big effect off. Might as well run Living Death which doesnt come with the added clause of resolving the creature, then having the targets in play/the yard. Havoc Demon Hits most relevant things. How does he work for you? Greenwarden of Murasa I didnt enjoy his mana cost for his effect, especially since you need to exile him for his second effect. Mitotic Slime Run Wurmcoil Engine instead. It can kill things and gain you life. I dont like vanilla creatures unless they're tokens produced off of enchantments
To gromgrom and Airithne, what would u say is the main difference between your decks? Both seem very good decks and seem to play similarly. Any specific differences that I might have missed?

gromgrom vs deck is a bit more stay and has better combo potential than my own list, which relies heavily on controlling what I have to early on and grinding out life drain later on in the game almost completely (I have some combo potential, but it's more difficult to pull off).
Otherwise, I'd wager they function similarly, as a lot of our deck runs similar cards.
I will say that my goal this weekend is to sit down and update my decks, so my list in the OP is probably going to change up a bit. ^.^

Gonna agree, ours are incredibly similar. I'd say mine plays a little more attrition based with meaner stax elements where Air's is a more fair 75% deck that can be played at more tables without any salt Not that one is better than the other. I'm in the process of making mine more combo-y and consistent, and improving my early game.
Plus, some things work for Air that dont work for me, and vice versa. It wouldn't be fun if we shared exactly the same ideas and preferences on each card!

Savra is a creature that does nothing on its own. While she definitely works with Meren, I prefer creatures that do something immediately. Enchantments like Grave Pact are different, as they are less likely to be removed.
Thanks to both your answers, going to take a much closer look tomorrow. and yes, i completely agree that one of the major pulls of EDH is how 1 commander can be built differently

True, I rely soley on just regular etb creatures to control the board as things pop up, rather than taking the preventative route, though I wouldn't say this deck gets no salt. it's a nifty little control deck, considering the colors.
Mitotic slime is honestly just for fodder. It is also a new addition, but I'm hoping it will produce an abundance of tokens for it's mana cost. Maybe replace it with Grave Titan?
I finally got my hands to a Vampiric Tutor and a Birthing Pod. Any suggestions what to cut for them? The deck link is at my sig.
How has Nantuko Husk worked for you? It doesn't have an ETB effect, but I understand how sac outlet is handy and can make it hard for others during combat steps. Does Stronghold Assassin do good work for you, or does it get removed before it can tap and/or you play against a lot of black decks?
You have two curve topper creatures at 8, though I always love Terastadon. However, Woodfall Primus combos with Mike, so that one isn't going anywhere I assume.
I saw you aren't running Buried Alive. It does work in this deck, either by finding combo pieces or to find your value creatures to recur.

Drop any of the following, imo: Carnage Altar Incredibly mana intensive for a sac outlet that only cantrips. Verdant Confluence is really only useful if you return something twice, imo. Dont see much use in fetching more lands unless youre using the Monster Stronghold Assassin Pretty slow for his ability, but could be useful. The problem I have with tap creatures like him, Hell's Caretaker and Fauna Shaman is usually they're removed before they get to do anything. Or they get 1-2 activation off, but dont really pull their weight like an enchantment would. (Attrition / Survivial of the Fittest)
Also, this is a good find Overeager Apprentice. He really helps enable certain reanimation strategies. Or just generates an exp counter on his own while filling the yard!

I've recently moved my single Altar of Dementia to a mono black Chainer deck I'm trying so I thought to replace it with something similar. To be honest, I didn't draw it yet but I wasn't excited to put it in the first place. Verdant Confluence is another card that I rarely see so I guess I can try swapping it off as well.
I like Overeager Apprentice so much, since it's a two for one card. I think that Airithne disagrees with me
I would like to use the frog so badly but I don't think that it fits in my current deck list. Did you try it?

I havent had a chance to play in a few weeks, but I hope this weekend. I havent picked up the frog yet. I, personally, am not going to use it unless I pick up Bloodghast and include a loam package including Crucible of Worlds, to help abuse Ghast and Frog. I wouldnt want just the frog. He's, at worst, a Smothering Abomination that hits your land base, and requires you to be up on the recovery to maintain parity while taking advantage of the CA provided.
Has anyone else tried the Frog? What support did you have for it?
edit: I also havent picked up or tried the Altar yet. I kind of want to. I really hate pitching cards, but I need more sacrifice outlets in my build. I dont consistently have one out, which slows down the deck considerably. I'll play with my current changes, then see if I cant drop some underperforming creature
Hey guys back again with my new and improved deck. Are there any tweaks I can make before I pull the trigger on the deck? I feel like getting green mana is a bit harder and the land base could use an overhaul but I simply don't know what to change. What do you guys think about Liliana of the Veil? This is a multiplayer deck. Oh, and I was also contemplating the removal of smothering abomination. Any suggestions/pros cons?

Other than that, I'd maybe take a look at what you plan on going up against in your meta, and see if you need to make any adjustments on what kinds of cards you'll need to deal with.
I was just referring to the OP list that has 36 lands
I never added more because I didn't feel the need to even with the switch to vancouver. This deck doesn't need a huge amount of mana in the early game and can ramp fairly well with Meren. I added my spare Mana Crypt to this deck instead, because an early Meren was higher on my list of priorities.
pattern of rebirth is a pretty crazy good card you're not running. The OP list is missing it, too.
My biggest problems with Pattern are that it's very slow (like gromgrom said), and that it in our colors, we don't have a way to use it as well as something like Boonweaver Giant. Any way that we could, like Eternal Witness, for example, is significantly slower, so I pulled it out of the deck early on. It's a great card if it's something you can consistently make it work, but I wasn't a fan of it for my own list.
A little off topic, but you brought up some very obscure cards I had forgotten about that are pretty solid as early sacrifice outlets and mana producers/fetchers:

I have Devoted Druid in there actually for the Necrotic Ooze combo, and completely agree it is a lackluster dork. (eg. Mikaues, the Unhallowed + Necrotic Ooze (with Devoted Druid in the graveyard to remove the +1/+1 and the likes of Blood Pet is infinite black)
