Looks like a lot of counters! Have you thought about Ouze Flux or Death's Presence? Flux is just for the lols, but presence could make a really big and angry flying insect of death.
I agree. We should all only play g/x decks because they are the most objectively fun and anyone who disagrees does not know the truth about EDH. Everyone should just play their decks because interaction beyond high fiving about how many land are in play is unfun and equivalent to casting Stasis while kicking puppies. I for one will never play with anyone who casts tutors, removal spells, blue cards, things I arbitrarily decide I don't like but will probably cast myself later.
I have considered Death's Presence but most of the creatures that are sacrificed have very low power to warrant such an expensively costed spell. Most of them are Eldrazi Spawn tokens anyways. If I sacrificed other tokens they would be 1/1 Faeries, Saprolings, or Eldrazi Scions. However, I can definitely see it going in a deck that doesn't rely too much on sacrificing tokens more so that sacrificing non-token creatures.

So managed to play with a mazirek deck, still in construction but damm it was really brutal. In 2 games i used Death Cloud with him been the lone creature on the field so yeah it was game right there. In the thirds game where we had 6 people playing was interesting to note that Mazirek deck is really subtle, thee deck doesn't draw as mutch hate as the Kaalia deck because the deck doesn't feature huge threats juts some silly and weak creatures that synergizes incredibly well with Mazirek.Flesh Carver and Jarad did work in this match managed to use Jarad to sacrifice Flesh Carver and Mazirek to kill every player at one swoop.
The deck might be abit too reliant on the commander but he has a huge payoff turning your small creatures to huge threats. This guy is really strong
For some reason I didn't see your post before until now, lol.
Death Cloud does merit testing in this deck and I've included it for the moment (swapped out Hangarback Walker). I feel that it'll be broken since this is a token deck as well. I'll more than likely have more creatures in play so I can cast an epic Death Cloud while at least keeping Mazirek and my mana rocks while getting rid of opponents' creatures and lands. That's basically an automatic win since Mazirek will one-shot one opponent that same turn and the other opponents the next turns while they drop a land or two or maybe none. Super brutal.

Why are you running Karoos and Panoramas? If your manabase is on a budget that's fine, but ZEN/KTK fetchlands have got to be way better than the ETB tapped fetchlands like Panoramas and Evolving Wilds. Also, with no way in the deck to generate value off bouncelands they are much worse than any playable dual. I would go:
I would also try to make room for Gaea's Cradle, which seems broken, Shizo, Death's Storehouse, which is amazing, and Yavimaya Hollow, which is Swarmyard for any creature. Also, there are some dual lands that are just more powerful than what you are running. Perhaps:
I don't see how Reliquary Tower is useful when you have so little draw- if you've combo'd off with Smothering Abomination or Harvester of Souls and drawn 20 cards, you don't actually need them to win, you just need wrath protection, which Yavimaya Hollow gives you. Temple of the False God looks like the next worst land, and Command Beacon is a must-have for such a powerful and expensive general. The other replacements are just strictly better (Cemetery is a good dual and should probably still be in the list, but Command Tower is just better, so if you're only running the duals you're running, Command Tower wins).
I would have i had it XD.Smallpox is still powerfull
Damn, having Mazirek gain 24 +1/+1 counters is nothing to scoff at. It would seems that this general shines best when there are more players playing. Small Pox is slowly creeping its way into the deck. I know that Death Cloud is incredibly broken. It follows that Pox would be as well. These should be definite includes. Barter in Blood is a card that could be tested as well. I'd have to see how to permanently include Death Cloud and Pox because I don't want to keep Hangarback Walker and Hooded Hydra out. They have been so amazing in more ways that one and people hold on to their wraths while their on the table until they have ways to deal with them first. So I'd have to see what to cut.
On a sidenote, besides the obvious inclusion of the enemy-colored fetchlands that should've been reprinted in these decks, a new-bordered Pox reprint with new art would've been so nice and clutch for this deck. Such a shame.

You, sir, are 100% correct. I can't call this deck competitive and have some lackluster fetches. I was basically writing the list of cards currently in my possession but for those out there who want to build the deck, the fetches are an automatic include. Gaea's Cradle not so much so because though the deck could be a bit of a mana hog, but there aren't that many big plays that really require having it.
As for the fetches you hit the nail on the head. For the other changes, I'd remove a Forest for the Command Tower instead of Gaea's Cradle so I'd still be able to keep Woodland Cemetery. If Oath of the Gatewatch brings enemy-colored tango lands, then I'll swap out a Swamp for it (since it's tutorable with the fetches).
I'll post the findings soon since I haven't had much time to play MtG (whether in real life or Cockatrice), but those land changes are gonna definitely be made. I'll eventually add those fetches with time since I haven't seen lands be that expensive since the commencement of the legacy format where all the ABUR dual lands basically quadrupled in price.

It looks like Mazirek is shapping up to be a powerful voltron general with a lot of stax options. I've been reviewing a lot of lists and look at options as well... a token route just seems slightly weaker when you don't have access to white. Have you considered rite of consumption? Get a big bug, swing, kill a player, sac to rite, kill another player, and laugh.
I agree. We should all only play g/x decks because they are the most objectively fun and anyone who disagrees does not know the truth about EDH. Well, the reason I play the token route is to always have sac fodder. It may seem slow but I haven't run into any problems with it. I think that having lots of tokens helps even better to take advantage of cards like Pox and Death Cloud. They're also chump blockers and most of the tokens produced have built in sacrifice outlets. I also run Primal Vigor and Doubling Season not only for the +1/+1 counter doubling but to also take advantage of the token doubling. I haven't been disappointed at all with this route. It may not run W but G is the best token color anyways - always has been.

Tokens are must have, specially From Beyond and Awakening Zone because they have multi purpose in the deck like sacrifice foddders, ramp, chum blocker and an army that gets benefits from the counters.
BTW Inspiring Call saved my ass in that match by saving my Mazirek against a wrath XD.Drawing cards was also nice.
Yeah, I'm seriously considering adding Inspiring Call and Wail of the Nim, as well just to up the probability to 4% of getting a card to save my ass from a wrath.
My YouTube Channel: The Commander Tavern - a channel I just started where I'll post deck techs and gameplays. Please support by checking it out. Maybe you'll like its content and subscribe! Thanks!
I'd like to say that the deck is running like a charm. When it's going the going is good. But a lot of the times it stalls. I'm considering add sacrifice to ramp (creatures like Sakura-Tribe Elder and Burnished Hart - which I originally removed to underperforming, but if I add them it won't be to substitute the mana dorks - those stay) and eggs (cards like Conjurer's Bauble, Conch Horn, Commander's Sphere, etc.). Eggs give me a card draw plus a sac trigger for Mazirek. If I include Glissa, the Traitor I can recur artifacts as well since most of the time my opponents are sacrificing creatures anyways. This opens a lot of doors but this would mean I would have to redesign the deck a bit. Here's the current decklist. It's OK, but nowhere near where I want it to be. I'd like to incorporate ways to make it be more efficient at drawing 'cause I'm having an empty hand too often.
Anyone experienced with Glissa Eggs that can help out? Maybe a Mazirek Eggs would be more broken since broken eggs pumps Mazirek and all your creatures. Some eggs I'm considering:
My, oh my! I just started tinkering with the massive changes and boy, oh boy, Mazirek Eggs was a difference between night and day! Egg update is great, I've been doing something similar. I figure I'd mention Salvaging Station is abuseable here and same with Karn, Silver Golem. Karn makes enemy rocks creatures for edicts and combos with station. Not the best adds, but I figured I'd mention for brew purposes. Pentavus and the other creatures with the same idea go infinite with Maz and allows you to also play Krark-Clan Ironworks
Thanks! And yeah, Mazirek Eggs is definitely the way to go with this commander.
Mazirek + Pentavus + Krark-Clan Ironworks is a nice infinite combo. I may look deeper into that. It may be harder to pull off than Mazirek + creature with persist + sac outlet, but it's a good thing to note for anyone interested in this strategy. Thanks for bringing it to light!
My YouTube Channel: The Commander Tavern - a channel I just started where I'll post deck techs and gameplays. Please support by checking it out. Maybe you'll like its content and subscribe! Thanks!
In Vintage, Workshops players use Arcbound Ravager in conjunction with Triskelion and Hangerback Walker to "Fireball" opponents out of the game. I think that Arcbound Ravager could become a good sacrifice outlet for some of your eggs and the synergy with Pentavus/Triskelion is good for your deck.
Since you want to run eggs, Salvaging Station! With Karn, he turns your eggs into creatures so that would trigger Station.
That's the bulk of what I run. There are some pretty zany interactions, like using Swiftfoot Boots giving a Karn animated Cauldron of Souls haste so it can go gravestorm with one of the mana sac outlets or the crazy interactions with janky cards like Dross Scorpion and Hornet's Nest. I just noticed the lack of Blood Artist and co. so I'm assuming youre veering away from combo, which is the primary focus of mine. I have yet to post a list yet because I've been recently trying enchantress stax out, but without stuff like Arcbound Ravager or Krark-Clan Ironworks it's been a little more klunky.
Well, I didn't realize that I had taken out Zulaport Cutthroat and Blood Artist until you mentioned them in another thread but I found them a home again. Any of them are essential to combo off the automatic win of Mazirek + creature with persis + sac outlet.
So far the deck's pretty brutal and there's so much awesome synergy to list them all at the moment. I can recall a couple of broken things that have happened in play recently:
Imprinting Mimic Vat with either Fleshbag Marauder or Merciless Executioner is always a beautiful thing. Meren of Clan Nel Toth + at least 5 experience counters + Sidisi, Undead Vizier in graveyard means I can put it into play each upkeep and have it exploit itself each turn in order to get a free tutor each turn.
The amount of Saproling tokens produced by Mycoloth during each of my upkeeps can reach ridiculous proportions and it becomes even more evil when Smokestack keeps getting fatter.
The amount of +1/+1 counters produced by Hardened Scales + Primal Vigor + Doubling Season + Corpsejack Menace all in play when you declare Kalonian Hydra as an attacker is a wondrous thing.

With Primal Vigor and Doubling SeasonSnake Basket can be pretty ridiculous. I will consider it indeed. The snakes also enter the battlefield with the counters on it due to Mazirek's ability so that's also a plus. Thanks for the suggestion!

Figured I'd bring this here rather than bother to make a new thread. I took apart my enchantress as soon as I made it. This is a list of ways to win through Blood Artist and co. I know it isn't your plan A, but I wanted to leave this somewhere constructive. The artifact thing is so close to what you already have you may even find one you like without going full on combo. As a side note, I know Krark-Clan Ironworks sounds redundant, but that effect is so powerful here, have the extra pieces isn't too bad, and landing it and an altar can sometimes lead to more mana than if you had one or the other. But again, this is more so for just anyone who checks here for Mazirek
Thanks!! That's some sweet infinity tech that will be of a lot of use to future Mazirek players. A lot of them are very situational and difficult to pull off, though (requiring too many cards).
I think the key to an infinite gravestorm Mazirek would be to see which of all these elements are either good on their own or the most common factor of all the infinite combos (I have some of my own I thought I posted but will do so now). For example, I see that Arcbound Reclaimer is a must for the simple fact that you can recycle eggs as well. Given infinite mana, you could sac the egg, in response to the ability, use Arcbound Reclaimer's ability, and topdeck the egg that you'll eventually draw due to its own ability. Doing this with Disciple of the Vault in play is an automatic GG. I've been considering adding Disciple of the Vault as a cheap, tertiary redundancy to Blood Artist (the other being Zulaport Cutthroat). However, the deck still produces a ton of tokens and the main things being sacrificed are creature tokens. That's not to say that an entirely devoted eggs deck wouldn't be able to include it.
At the moment, my deck isn't completely devoted to eggs or to tokens; it's a combination of both. I want to take full advantage of Primal Vigor and Doubling Season and to do so would be to include token producers. These things have saved my hide so much that I'm hesitant on going full-on eggs.
Here're the infinity combos I've found that are relatively easy to pull off and allow for lots of other things, only requiring Mazirek, a sac outlet, and a creature with persist.
If you notice from my latest list, most of these cards are missing. That's because I've found them to be subpar on their own. However, key pieces like Blood Artist and Zulaport Cutthroat did their job throughout the matches without relying too heavily on the infinite or quasi-infinite engines. The cantripping eggs I included also speed the deck along whethere Mazirek is even out or not. It helps me to burn through the deck a lot quicker. That's not to say personal preferences or meta calls could be made when one is tinkering with his/her own Mazirek build.
Additionally, the deck has enough synergy that players who hate infinite combos can still get a pretty brutal deck and never reach infinity or beyond. If I ever give sufficient attention to this deck to be able to prepare a primer-fashion thread, I will try to include 3 versions to this build: devoted to eggs (with infinity/artifacts), avoiding infinity (tokens/stax/eggs), and my current build which is eggs/tokens/stax hybrid with infinity combos.
I also considered adding Lotus Petal or Lotus Bloom thanks to Salvaging Station. Having so many death triggers means that - with careful use of the stack - I could generate infinite colored mana with those artifacts alone. They'd also trigger artifact destruction for cards like Disciple of the Vault. Also, with opponents' creatures' death triggers, Glissa, the Traitor would send me those eggs to my hand to cast for free afterwards, also increasing my storm count as well as my gravestorm count or put them directly into play with Salvaging Station and continue the process of infinite mana. There are just so many things to do with Mazirek!
Things I would seriously consider finding space for (for not simply being situational - again, these cards being used for any version of the deck):
I could see Karn, Silver Golem, Cauldron of Souls, Clock of Omens, Dross Scorpion etc. being used for a more artifact devoted eggs build but it would be a trade-off between artifact use and token production. Testing would have to be done in order to determine which is the most efficient way of running Mazirek. When I come around to polishing the main post in primer-fashion, I will give you credit for your artifact interactions findings, Welgo. By the way, do you have an updated version of your list you'd like to share here for comparison?

I would also try to make room for Gaea's Cradle, which seems broken, Shizo, Death's Storehouse, which is amazing, and Yavimaya Hollow, which is Swarmyard for any creature. Also, there are some dual lands that are just more powerful than what you are running. Perhaps:

I don't see how Reliquary Tower is useful when you have so little draw- if you've combo'd off with Smothering Abomination or Harvester of Souls and drawn 20 cards, you don't actually need them to win, you just need wrath protection, which Yavimaya Hollow gives you. The only real weaknesses to this deck that I've found is merely two creatures: Sigarda, Host of Herons and even more so, Angel of Jubilation. Suppression Field is also a pain because almost all of our sacrifice outlets are free.

I also added Pentavus and Salvaging Station. As for Krark-Clan Ironworks, Ashnod's Altar pretty much does the same thing with the artifact creature tokens produced by Hangarback Walker (gotta find a place for it) and Pentavus, so if I were to add Krark-Clan Ironworks it would be for redundancy. Even then, I can sac any creature to Ashnod's Altar but Krark-Clan Ironworks requires the card to be an artifact. So it's still a maybe for me.

Indefinite Persist Sac Engine:
Mazirek + creature with persist + sac outlet = infinite sac triggers / infinite gravestorm count
Specific sac outlets:
- Ashnod's Altar = infinite colorless mana
- Phyrexian Altar = infinite colored mana
- Viscera Seer = topdeck any card in your library
Combos with the engine:
- Blood Artist or Falkenrath Noble or Zulaport Cutthroat = automatic win
- Harvester of Souls or Smothering Abomination = draw all the cards
Synergy with the engine:
- Gyre Sage = indefinite G when tapping
- Black Market = indefinite B at the beginning of your first main phase
- sufficient G + Evolutionary Leap = put all creatures from your library into your hand
- sufficient B + Attrition = kill all nonblack creatures
- sufficient G and B + Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord = automatic win
- It That Betrays + Dictate of Erebos or Grave Pact = steal all the creatures
- Mycoloth = indefinite Saproling tokens at the beginning of your upkeep
- all your creatures are basically infinity/infinity
- automatic game-ending Bitter Ordeal
I tried Cauldron of Souls and it would always get blown up or stolen and anything I'd need it for would go to crap. So I preferred simply including Wrap in Vigor, Golgari Charm, and Inspiring Call instead.
